  4. Dito. On the other hand living by the old "the bomber always gets through" philosophy freed up a lot of captain points for more useful skills. Just wondering how effective the new skills will be.

  8. Well for me ARP Takao just clicked right from the start. Brutal HE alpha with a reload that fits the "shoot once and then dodge 5 BB's for 20 seconds" cruiser meta, very usuable torps and stealth (can stealth torp even with the camo being "worse" compared to the Atago), its a rather fast ship and also quite durable if angled correctly and on top of that has some heals on T8 already. However I have to admit that I failed to play her much lately as I am occupied training some German captains in Prinz Eugen / Tirpitz as well as a couple of special captains for other nations (Halsey, Kutusov, Ovechkin clones etc). Last two captain points will likely go into adrenaline rush.
  9. Well, not defending the recent abundancy of events / grindfests you need to understand that WG needs to cater for a very diverse playerbase. Some people want to play as competivite as possible, some people are satisfied when they can just play a couple of random games and some people want to play co-op primarily. And as all those groups want their own events and special prices it is not easy for any company to not create the feeling of letting people behind (as can be seen here in the forum when is comes to exclusive rewards like steel etc). The problem is that for players that are interested in all modes or that are completionists by nature this can be very overwhelming and tiring. Regarding OPs question I am still quite happy with the game when it comes to playing just a couple of random games for fun and recreation, however I am also wary about a couple of critical developments, like the more or less failed CV rework or the research bureau. Usually online game companies defend themselves by stating that the people that are doing a major rework or new art style are not those who service the product, i.e. the ressources for maintaining and improving the base game are usually quite limited. However what WG seems to fail to understand is that the majority of the playerbase is primarily interested in improving the existing product and not in the creation of new content. And for World of Warships this means that the playerbase wants to see sufficient ressources diverted to balacing of ship lines, new maps and better/fairer matchmaking.

    For what it is worth 1 BB can't crossfire, 2 can. At least thats what they say. However personally I'd say crossfire from a Stalingrad is no less devastating.

    Will you Reset in The Research Bureau

    Having fully researched every single tech tree apart from carriers (US T6, RN T6, IJN T8) and Russian BB's (currently at T9) and with enough credits and free exp to accelerate any grind I would have been tempted to reset one line (or maybe two) as I have to admit that there is few things "left to do" apart from grinding another set of 19 skill point captains. However I will never ever reset like 5 lines...
  12. Update: Got the T5 and T6 out of normal containers, now out of containers because I am either missing the required ships (French DD T7+ or other nations) or because I can't be bothered grinding containers with CVs.

    Too many specuuuuuul snowflakes out there that launch 4, 6 or 8 kilometer torpedoes at 12+ km. Not counting those that launch torps into a brawl, which can be a high-risk, high-pink move...

    Dunno. T6 looks like top of the line with competitive camo (!), reload booster for the first time and very usable torps. T9 however will be outspotted by 1.2 to 1.7km which is huge and while the torps are fast stealth dropping is almost out of question due to range. So I guess somewhere in between the tiers the line switches from DD hunters to BB harrassers.

    If attack delay has already been discarded, how about removing the passive spotting ability from planes? No more, I am spotted at 8km but I can't see any ship so there must be a DD nearby, would surely help DDs, wouldn't it?

    Isn't there a delay for starting CV planes already? Or was this cancelled? On the other hand DDs could simply start to learn not to outrun their AA cover once a CV is present in the match? Or start to learn when to press "p"?

    Grind ships

    Hill and Benham actually were the first ships I ever purposely skipped, mostly because of away holidays but in large parts also because of the stupid event grind. The ARP ships all all nice actually (Kongo, Myoko and Atago) and it is a shame that their paint is not upgraded to at least regular paint (-3% +4%).

    So about Epicenter

    Well in my book the games modes list like this: Domination > Epicenter > Standard. Epicenter is some odd duck however, because when played as advertised (promoting aggressive gameplay) the match would probably degenerate into a huge slugfest with the winner being deceided very early on. And as nobody wants to die early on people rather tend to play Epicenter like a "Superdomination" game with just one cap, i.e. stick to the order of battle, which is DD knife fight over some obscure area, backed up by CA, backed up by BB. Flanking can help your team win, however in contrary to Domination it is not promoted and I have also seen many games lost because either the flanking force gets shot to pieces or it takes too long to get into position and its firepower is missing while the enemy is doing a (random) decisive center push. The resulting sitzkrieg is usually decided by the side that has the DDs that better manage to evade the enemy threats (hydro, radar, torps, shells).
