Tirpitz players and obsession with torps
Ubertron_X replied to anonym_OQ8SFxmDxroh's topic in General Discussion
Old but gold: -
Different classes, I know, but please: Silver ship North Carolina (North Carolina class): 19% torpedo protection Premium ship Alabama (South Dakota class): 49% torpedo protection Premium ship Massachusetts (South Dakota class): 46% torpedo protection Historic reasons....
-
Just regrinding US BB line, all fine until I re-discovered that for no obvious reason the North Carolina only has 19% torpedo protection. Colorado a tier earlier has 37% and even the "I am so bad vs torpedos that I need to have hydro" Bismarck has 22%.

According to Sub_Octavian, "something" is hidden in the new anniversary-port. Can we find it?

I did take a (not overly long) look yesterday in order to find some easter eggs but failed so far... -

Can we talk about the blatant lie that is Smolensk?

Yeah these statistics are really disgusting. So I suggest to nerf Colbert hard and buff Moskva hard. Top 3 need to belong to the motherland! -

I have absolutely and positively no doubts about Russian CVs making it into the game... -
Can you do basic math and simple reasoning? Well, if you can do the later this would tell you that the reward for top 50%, top 25% and top 10% wont be zero. And if you now do the basic math you know that the correct answer must be 1200 tokens.

What ships should I be working towards?
Ubertron_X replied to Purnylla's topic in General Discussion
One other thing of note, I don't know how exactly the "recruiting system" works nowadays and if you are eligible at all, however it may be worthwhile getting an invite by an experienced player in order to receive free goods and even premium ships once you reach certain milestones! https://worldofwarships.eu/en/content/recruiting_station/ -
What ships should I be working towards?
Ubertron_X replied to Purnylla's topic in General Discussion
Well from top of my head: * Japanese T4 BB Ishizuchi (available via doubloons from the tech tree; limited range, suitably fast and otherwise a very fun ship, 10 guns). * American T5 BB Texas (good AA, 10 guns, very slow) or Russian T5 BB October Revolution (12 guns, limited repairs, still slow; both shop or via tech tree) * UK T6 BB Warspite (tech tre via doubloons; few (8) but accurate guns but beware the very slow gun traverse, also slow) or American T6 BB West Virginia (shop, few (8) big guns but slow) or French T6 BB Dunkerque (fast, all forward guns (8)) I can't quite recommend the T6 Mutsu (no experience) or T6 Prinz Eitel Friedrich (horrible guns). Whatever you do don't by now but wait a couple of days! There will be a aniversary upcomming and it usually has huge discounts for low level ships (up to 50%) and moderate discounts for higher ships (30% up to T7 or 15% for T8). -

Hi there! Having played WoT before (30k battles) before I changed to WoWs I am quite sure that T5 is not the sweet spot in the later. Comparing earnings, xp gain and matchmaking I think the sweet spot is more like T6 with a strong tendency to T7. A maximum of T7 also protects you from the dreaded T10 matchmaking. However please don't try to rush to the top. Up until T4 you will get protected matchmaking, i.e. you will not see higher ships than T5. Once you go to T5 you will experience normal matchmaking and can meet up to T7. Take all ship classes (destroyer, cruiser, battleship and even carriers) for a spin to get a grip of the mechanics. Even if you don't like a class it will at least provide an idea how you will need to play against it. Take your time and bring at least one branch each to T5 before moving on. If you want durability you should probably go for battleships. While heavy cruisers can be very sturdy too, they are harder to play and almost absent in the lower tiers. Destroyers are there for the ninja stuff (scouting, smoke, throwing stars and death attacks) and carriers are here to steal your jam and making others life as miserable as possible (and carriers also play radically different). Regarding premium ships, if you plan to invest it is the German T7 battleship Scharnhorst that is generally considered a very good deal. It is fast, tough, has decent anti-air, lots of fast firing albeit small caliber guns (which can be a problem versus some cruisers and other battleships), handles very good and even features short-range torpedoes. And at T7 it will provide decent earnings in silver and XP. Keep in mind that a premium ship will accept any captain, no matter if he is specialised for destroyer, cruiser, battleship or even carrier (this is a difference to WoT where a light tank crew could only transfer into a premium light tank), so always choose your premium ships for the nations that you want to play. So if you go for the Scharnhorst I would recommend to take a look at the German tech tree, who has decent destroyers and cruisers, excellent battleships, however no carriers. Otherwise I would suggest to take a look at the Japanese tech tree, who have very good destroyers, good cruisers, good battleships (from T5 onward) and also good carriers. -
How long after you unlock a tier x that you start to dream about another ship?
Ubertron_X replied to kapnobathrac's topic in General Discussion
@OP exactly 0 seconds. Having all T10 silver ships apart from CVs, newer lines (Russian BB T9 almost there, French DD T8) and regrinds (American BB T7), I feel totally not obliged to play T10. Apart from legendary module and commander XP there is few incentive in playing those ships, as every ship is horribly strong, combat distances are usually very far and games are thus often quite static. Which always is a little awkward when it comes to (T10) clan battles: "Do you have ship xyz with a 19 point commander? Sure I have! Do you also have the legendary module? Unfortunately, no. Do you feel comfortable in playing the ship? Weeeelll... I guess..." -
Blame Churchill...

There seems to be something wrong with our bloody posts today...
-
Well if you don't want a big and meaningless slugfest I found it best not to go into in full force. Just contest it with lets say 3 to 4 ships playing it safe, secure the flanks, get into crossfiring positions and win as superior numbers will slowly but continuously push your opponent out.

What if I told you that I hate standard more?

Arkansas a reason for tier IV too.

Number of FreeXP ships that players actually use in "Random" battles...
Ubertron_X replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
A very valid reason. However after I noticed that e.g. I did not play my Nagato (dont question me having fun) for a very long time because I also have Duke of York, Nelson, Hood and Scharnhorst I simply decided that it is time to say goodby. The ability to accept any captain is a huge boon for premium ships and one of the prime reasons why I decided to get rid of all my silver ships. Having finished almost every line (except CVs and the newest ones, not bragging) the last thing "to do" is to train my captains and premium ships work so much better for this.
