Hey WG i cant spot ant IT BBs? Why?
Ubertron_X replied to _Conan_Librarian_'s topic in General Discussion
The problem being that their specialty SAP ammunition - probably because of the bad sigma - currently seems to be a huge liability, at least as far as my own experiences are concerned. Tried a couple of games using SAP only, aiming for superstructures or lightly armoured targets mostly, tried a couple of games using AP only and tried a couple of games with situational use of SAP in case a lightly armoured and juicy target showed up. Still got the most consistent games using AP only which raises the question why Italian BBs have SAP in the first place as it does not help versus DDs and you also can't spam it onto superstructures as often and accurate like the Italian cruisers can. And even when the perfect opportunity does present itself (SAP loaded vs light cruiser broadside at low range) the guns and ammunition often seem to fail to get the job done, at least at a consistent rate. -
Why are people saying secondaries are dead, I've never understood it
Ubertron_X replied to Lemasive's topic in General Discussion
I can imagine a time limited fun mode (like space battles or bath tub) where BBs are allowed to manually aim their secondaries. Probably would be a nice surprise for any DD trying to torp rush or making an attempt at gunboating. So your Haragumo has 8 guns, eh? Let me answer with my Kurfürsts 14 guns... -
Id rather meant an equivalent regarding the amout of negativity and whine threads they are being able to produce...

CVs are the WoWs equivalent of artillery in WoT and I think you can't disable the later either...

What will happen to those that will left missing 1 CotS conatiner?
Ubertron_X replied to Anthoniusii's topic in General Discussion
Well, I do not hold a grudge against KOTS per se, however I do not like to watch streams on twitch and the required linking of the account... -

Hey! I actually try to complete every mission that does not require actually watching KOTS. -
Please Explain Me this World of Warships
Ubertron_X replied to THE_HOLY_PEANUT_ASS's topic in General Discussion
I think he got confused by the verbal description only mentioning coal, doubloons, signals and premium ships while NOT looking up the infographics. And premium time and camo is "missing" in the verbal description. At least this is what I got out of this complaint. -
Well, lets say I have quite some camos für ships I do not (or rather no longer) posses or have never possessed. Usually all those that came with premium ships or were available for free (grinding) over multiple events. There is only one camo that I am interested in buying and this would be the Prinz Eugen Adler camo, however the last camo sale feels like ages ago.

It may not be as elaborate, but I really like the white/grey/gold/black camo of the Leningrad...

No more rewards for achievements after 0.10.4
Ubertron_X replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
Quoted for truth. And while I would gladly appreciate any efforts to include our PvE community into the process of being eligible for flags I fear this will end up as yet another tweak in order to make formerly easily accessible ressources much more scarce. You know, right after reduction of rewards within the daily containers (yes, I was there 3000 years ago), inflation of the prices for free XP ships, cutting down free XP in Operations, removal of flag rewards in ranked, upping costs for captain training and retraining in the wake of the captain rework and many more... -
Yes, latin alphabet. Jokes aside this looks like a BB bingo HE & fires post.

Best ships/tech tree lines for beginners?
Ubertron_X replied to nighthawk24's topic in General Discussion
I would not recommend the Soviet Khaba line as it requires non-traditional DD gameplay along a different captain and equipment set-up and somewhat extended knowledge of the game mechanics. Depending on your preferred DD playstyle the Japanese navy offers both torpedo as well as gun centric DD lines. The American DDs are decent allrounders from T7 and up but being one of the older lines seem to suffer a little lately (also their guns are not as easy to use). The Royal Navy DDs are Swiss army knives and most forgiving. If you want to stay with the Russians you should go down the Grozovoi line as this is the line which offers traditional DD gameplay with good guns and usable torpedoes. The Pan EU line can be interesting too with good torps and guns, especially if you want to train your "no smoking" DD skills. US and IJN BB lines are both solid and you should have your bases covered well. Regarding cruisers you will have to decide on the type you want to play. Light cruisers are mostly about opportunistic fire and hiding your weakly armored hulls most of the time, heavy cruisers can usually take a little more punishment but exposing them alot is also not recommended (playing an "open waters" cruiser without dying early is one of the most difficult skills to learn in WoWs). The German cruiser line is solid, but neither excells at anything apart of hydro range nor is it very exiting to play. I would probably recommend the French cruisers over the Germans because while less tanky they feature increased speed and offensive capabilities (reload booster and better (but less) torpedoes). Can't help you on CVs because I don't play those. -
Claude Powers will accept his Haida upgrade eventually...

The only 'stealth' about torpedoes that does annoy me from time to time is that you can not see the torps launching even if you have clear visuals and your eyes trained on the launching ship. So if anything I would consider showing the launch animation to anyone that actually has visuals on the launching ship at the time of launch. On the downside this might give gunboat DDs too much of an edge during DD engagements though...

Should WG get rid of deadeye completely?
Ubertron_X replied to Porpoise's topic in General Discussion
In my opinion the BB tree is lacking a skill that is effective in enticing BB vs BB fighting and that makes bow in camping more difficult in (mainly) BB vs BB fights. This skill could easily be named 'Deadeye' too. I have this loose idea of your shots getting more accurate the longer the target is spotted and semi-stationary. So 1st salvo = normal dispersion, 2nd consecutive salvo = slightly improved dispersion, 3rd consecutive salvo = moderatley improved dispersion etc.- 24 replies

Developer Bulletin for Update 0.10.3
Ubertron_X replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Quoted for truth. Remember that nowadays the usual order of Battle is 5 BB / 3 CA / 4 DD this leaves way too few targets for a DD that is supposed to be strong against CLs but not other DDs. And to add to that CLs (and CAs) are a type of ship that every single other class is already strong against. You know why Asashio is strong? Because she has a lot of targets in each single battle that in addition are usually very hard to kill and she has the right tools to bring them down more easy. However I can't make any sense of a line of DDs that is supposed to excel against just a few and reasonable weak targets (defensively) that get anyway focused on by anyone and their dog as soon as they are spotted for more than a couple of seconds. Will reserve my final judgement after I have played the ships on the live server in random battles, however I am very sceptical about the very concept of this new line. Not having a proper role is a thing... -
One thing I forgot to mention: * Battle awareness: Keep an eye on the team list and minimap at all times. Use the last known position option for the minimap. An enemy DD and a low visibiliy radar cruiser in a division? Be on high alert if any of those is spotted on your flank. Some ships not spotted yet? Don't commit until you know where those missing ships are. Your main goal as a DD and the main tool to not die early and abruptly is not to be surprised, neither by enemy DDs, CAs or even BBs. If you have a CV in battle be extra careful and only commit to fighting if he is not operating on your side of the map. There is a reason why good DDs are hard to find because there it is a lot of multitasking involved. In between aiming for your opponent yourself while dodging his torps and dodging his shots and also keeping an eye on the minimap a lot of mistakes can be made.

As an rather aggressive DD player who actively plays to cripple or sink the enemy DD or drive him away from my team there are a couple of things of note, some already mentioned here. * Guns: Adapt your playstyle according to the characteristics of your guns. For example for all DD with bad arcs you usually want to engage as close as possible in order to utilize your usually good DPM. In case you have bad DPM you usually want to engage in guerilla type attacks, i.e. get one or two good salvos in, then turn tail and disengage. * Torps: Some DD fights can be won by torps and Radio Location can be your friend here as you might be able to catch an enemy DD unaware. Also the European DDs torps are super fast and will often allow torping enemy DDs reliably in close quarter fights. Some enemy DD (often IJN) are often very prone to getting torped while smoke shooting, so watch out for those opportunities. * Visibility: The lower the better if you are on DD duty (no gun boats). If you have much better camo you can usually dictate engagement ranges at will. Often it may just be enough shadowing the enemy DD to perma highlight the enemy for your team, having them do all the work. * Speed: Be aware of the speed differences of the individual DDs. If you get caught unaware by a faster DD things can go south very fast. Same if you plan to chase a DD yourself. * Health: Always be aware of the health pool of the enemy DD and the respective difference in health to your own DD. If you are still in good health do not fear enemy DDs (even gun boats) that are low health IF - and thats a big if - you are confident that you will most likely be able to sink them in one or two salvos. Don't give them time to murder you. * Gimmicks: Be aware of other DDs gimmicks. For example you usually can't push German DDs because of their hydro or risk a trade with a French DD because of their reload booster. Beware of the couple of radar DDs which can usually quickly ruin your day. Or DDs that have access to heal and that may resurface with much more HP than you would expect. * Team: If you are not all alone on a flank try to work with your team. Low visibility cruisers as fire support and radar cruisers in general are your friends (as might be a pushing cruiser with a good hydro). Request teamwork via F3 as soon as a DD engagement starts. Even BB from far away will sometimes be able to severly cripple or sink the enemy DD. Always try to fight in front of your team, not theirs. * Battle plan: Perhaps the most important thing. Always plan for the win, for example try to engage on your terms, but more importantly have a plan what to do and how to survive when things go badly. Your exit strategy is the most important thing when fighting other DDs. A second enemy DD turns up that is not a one-shot? Bail. A low visibility CA turns up in close proximity? Bail like hell. Chasing and killing the enemy DD takes to long or brings you too close to the enemy fleet? Abort.

anyone else does 100% campaigns?
Ubertron_X replied to The_Shungite_Wizard's topic in General Discussion
I usually do them (still missing the 5 epochs though), however I rarely ace them. Mainly because they usually do require high tier CV missions and I don't want to fail my team(s) when playing CV in T10 for the first time since the rework. -

Which ship(s) do you hate having on your team? ("Bad-player-magnets")
Ubertron_X replied to Hirohito's topic in General Discussion
You rang? On topic: Any (smoke) capable gunboat that needs a spotter instead of providing spotting. French DDs, Russian gun line, Japanese gun line and especially Friesland as she usually can't handle a push.
