As above, in your map screen rclick the gear icon (settings bottom right of map) to definitely clear the problem as do a few other things. Fact remains this bug has been reported numerous times and has been afflicting people for weeks and still no fix. Really not ideal.

Im gonna start typing that in allchat just before my concealment kicks in via gun bloom dropping, or going behind cover or whatever. Once again, thanks for the comedy. Honestly feel you have to be trolling but thats upto you :)

Ive been watching this thread from afar with some amusement but feel obligated to comment now due to @Flaky26 's post above. Genuinely laughed out loud watching the vid, but there are even better ones on his (sadly very small) channel. The "world of warships is not real" video is an absolute gem in which he is in spectate watching an enemy BB who suddenly disappears (due to the ship spotting it moving behind an island) and the camera sort of looks left and right in a puzzled fashion - you could almost see the cartoon question marks popping up above Steel's head as he desperately tries to work out where the ship has gone. Of course the disappearance was blamed on "game animators using a jam to go invisible" (seems to be the go to excuse) and was nothing to do with his poor grasp of game mechanics. Very funny anyway - was glad to be made aware of this channel.

From playing it when it was in test I can say the effect of the LM is quite noticeable and while Halland was already pretty tanky before, this takes it to new levels. If you actually get through all the heals you will have tanked a ludicrous amount for a DD (sorry struggling to remember exact numbers but recall some matches where I was down and out on very low HP and managed to eventually recover to maybe 3/4 or so). The extra speed is also nice since thats one of Hallands flaws. As people mentioned above I think the loss of the torp reload mod is a pretty big downside but its certainly not a bad upgrade and does make quite a difference to how the ship plays.

I didnt notice this in the patch notes but just played a couple of games on NA where 12.3 is live and saw that there is no longer the shell type letters on the main HUD - it just shows the graphic of the shell. From the patch notes it was right there - "Removed the letter designations of shell types (HE, AP, SAP) from the ships armament panel", but it was easy to miss in the "Other changes and improvements" section and I would question why this needed to happen. I guess I will get used to it and obviously its possible to mouse over the shells as before and see what is what but honestly I found this a really weird and distracting change. Could we at least get an option in settings to show the letters please? Would not call this a positive change.

Nah not overly and tbh ive got used to it already. I did initially think it was some UI bug and then saw it in the patch notes. As some have mentioned above though, it was rather easier for people to identify what they had loaded previously (especially for new players), and colour blindness, bad eyesight and small monitors are a thing for some people. Seems a bit of a pointless change with precisely zero positive aspects, with the possible exception of pleasing hoofdaphobes. Thanks for such a constructive contribution anyway.

Is this the final curtain for Mashum?
Muppeteer replied to Migantium_Mashum's topic in General Discussion
As someone who has always kept an eye on this forum while not always having time to post here as often as I would like, you have been a constant presence here and a respected and constructive member of the community. Genuinely sorry to hear of your health issues and wish you all the very best with your treatment and recovery. -
And yet the statistically better player was fighting till the end, and while they maybe made a few bad decisions they still contributed much more to the teams chances of winning than someone who got sunk very early then posted on the forum to complain about them. Personally if I got sunk that early I wouldnt complain about others via in game chat let alone posting pages of complaints and justifications here. But whatever - I guess the OP is committed to this path now and is incapable of bowing out gracefully by admitting that they were much more at fault for the loss than the person they tried to shame, and that actually the better person was better (as the stats would suggest). What was the point of all this again?

First solo warrior for a while, and the fact it was in a ship as bad as Anhalt makes it even more satisfying :) Overtook enemy score with about 10s on the clock. Was only playing it since I was trying various sec BBs for the second to last Brisbane mission and thought I would blow the cobwebs off it. Fun game. Still a terrible ship. -
Oh the irony from guy who (in the space of about 30 words) called people "ret**ds" and used the F word more than once. I gave you the benefit of the doubt about the meaning and went and double checked, but sadly everywhere I looked just backed up what Google translate said. The fact that the automated chat filter also picked this up would sort of suggest that profanity in your language still counts as profanity. Saying that "its nothing different from how I normally talk" is no defence. You chose to post what you got chatbanned for and I would think that most people would look at that and say "fair enough". Not that my or anyone elses opinion matters - the only relevant thing is the in game rules which you plainly fell foul of. And honestly, trying to suggest that "damn" or similiar should be equivalent to stuff like the F word is just laughable. Since you mentioned it, I actually am quite capable of not swearing or making abusive comments in a game. Maybe something to experiment with yourself. I'll be sure to say hello if I see you in game. Shame you wont be able to respond.
-
Im sure you are fully aware of what you typed, and if you are so lacking in vocabulary that you have to resort to profanity and the other unpleasantness above then thats on you. All of it rather worse than "dammit" as well so your suggestion that its no different from that is questionable. No idea which chat channel you were using but it was your choice to swear in an in game chat channel so the potential consequences should have been obvious.
-
Having translated your unpleasant rant I think its fair to say that if anyone was typing that in English they could expect to be chat banned. Why do you think that shouldnt be the case if using a different language?
-
That poll at the top of the page is the digital equivalent of loving the sound of you own voice. The fact you added in a couple of questions with no relevance to your suggestion reinforces that impression. More game modes would be fine I guess, although to be fair WG do add these in on a regular basis whether its things like airship escort or the seasonal operations and so on. They all tend to be multiplayer because this is a multiplayer game. Asking for a single player mode in an MMO isnt going to happen. There are 1000s of single player games available out there if you find the the whole concept of sharing a game with other people so objectionable. This is not my experience of the game. Sure, there are some unpleasant people who like to rant and rage but they are a small minority, plus its not really that tricky to rclick those people and block them. Problem solved. Doesnt really require a singleplayer mode to deal with this small issue.

Its a ship with a small but devoted following and is genuinely one of my favourite BBs in the game due to the silliness its capable of. While on paper it seems to have weaker secs than a lot of its direct competition, the fact it gets to use them while stealthed in its extremely long lasting exhaust smoke means you can rack up a lot of damage at minimal risk. 50-60k from the SAP secs alone is not uncommon, which seems pretty fine tbh. Add to this the fact that it can solo cap flags situationally (again while under a smoke for the whole time capping) plus the other myriad uses of exhaust smoke, and a decently agile and tanky hull and you have what I consider to be a really fun and often influential T9. SAP secs and actually having an exhaust smoke makes it a poor comparison. You cant play Marco in the same way you can play Verdi. Congratz on getting it for free in a crate @OP :)

Had a couple of crazily close losses tonight but this was the pick of the bunch. Decent lead with under a minute to go when the last two enemy capped and the crazy amounts of points per tick for the flag in arms race mode swung the score to them with around 10s on the clock. Was nice game regardless and at least 1899 base xp was enough for my Naval battle try :) -
Possibility to surrender to end match quicker
Muppeteer replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Honestly feels like you are trolling at this point. You are still comparing two very different games and cant seem to accept that wins can and do happen when one team is losing by miles and makes a dramatic comeback. This would never happen if your surrender option was a thing (plus people such as yourself could actively prevent us even trying to win from a bad match position by forcing the team to give up). Also the games are short enough as it is and why should the enemy team be punished for playing well when their opposition waves the white flag and massively nerfs their xp/silver for the match by ending it prematurely? I appreciate im repeating myself to a degree but you seem to just ignore inconvenient (but relevant) points such as these that have been raised. While its certainly true that new players are the ones who are more likely to spend money, do you think it would be really helping them improve if they could just quit out of games at the first sign they are losing? Its actually quite a good idea for newer players to hang around after they are sunk to see how others are playing and pick up some tips but in your world they wouldnt even get to the point where they had been sunk. Also lets not forget that when they finally found a team that they were willing to go the distance with (after surrendering in trickier matches) they could themselves become a victim of the opposition surrendering and gain very little income from the match as a result. if anything would make people quit the game its this, not the lack of a surrender option. Finally, for the 4th time I will point out the survey results at the front of this thread that you keep ignoring. You want votes to count so pay attention to how the majority have responded about this proposal. -
Possibility to surrender to end match quicker
Muppeteer replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Wow. How is this still going on? I was joking when I suggested a vote at 20mins earlier - the games tend to be short enough as it is without adding this feature. In a game like LoL where the game could potentially last for a considerable amount of time its more reasonable, but its far from the norm for a match to go the full 20minutes here. To be honest its hardly a case of being "imprisoned" in a match when typically it might last only 10-15mins and you can freely leave when you get sunk (as opposed to respawning in a MOBA). I think part of the issue here is that you are incredibly inexperienced in the game and havent got to a point where you have actually swung a match when losing by a distance or produced an epic carry against the odds. I and others have had our fair share of those sorts of matches but they tend to only be possible when rather more experienced than someone such as yourself with a total of 30ish games in random. With one ship alive there is still a chance of winning regardless of how many enemy remain and I personally wouldnt want someone else to decide that I shouldnt have a chance of trying. Its also incredibly unfair on your opponents since they will be getting vastly reduced amounts of xp etc if the game prematurely ended because people like you just gave up. I will for the third time point out the survey results at the front of this thread. 3/4 of people who responded think this is a terrible idea. You like the idea of voting but wont accept the results of the poll here? -
Possibility to surrender to end match quicker
Muppeteer replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Cant really call him the OP due to the necro (gravedigger?) but @Claiho keeps mentioning this option being available in games like League of Legends. I have never played it personally but after having a look it seems that surrenders are very uncommon before the 20 minute mark since that requires 100% of the team to vote to give up. After that point they still need a majority obviously. If it will placate him I will recommend that a surrender option be introduced in line with this, at the 20 minute mark. Also will once again point out the survey results about this. Democracy has spoken. -

Muppeteer replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
So nothing to do with the fact that everyone who has responded to you bringing this "vintage" topic back to life has given you a hearty "no thanks!" with reasons why? As above, necroing a thread is frowned upon in most online forums for a lot of good reasons. -
Possibility to surrender to end match quicker
Muppeteer replied to Beastofwar's topic in General Discussion
Was a truly terrible idea when it was first suggested (also remember this post lol) and nothing has changed since then. Wins and comebacks can happen even when losing by a lot of ships. Say half the team dies in the first five minutes - should they decide that the rest of their team dont get to at least go down fighting (and possibly swing the game)? Since you seem a fan of the democratic process (people voted to surrender so rest must accept that) I suggest look at the results of the poll attached to this very old post. Quite conclusive. In before the lock anyway. -
Most notable one I ever had was ages ago when some guy on the other team was spouting some of the most unpleasant comments I have ever seen in online gaming. Seriously felt like he was trying to cover all the bases - we had all the swears, racism, homophobia, comments on parentage and so on. Literally, you name it he was typing it. Me being me, I responded a little with some "whats your problem?" and "you really have issues" type of comments to which he responded by saying I was "toxic" for doing so. I replied "you call me toxic when you type stuff like this" and pasted in one of his more unpleasant and sweary previous posts into allchat. Resulted in a seven day chatban for me for quoting him. Oops. I did laugh about it afterwards :) Otherwise quite a rare occurrence personally since it hardly seems worth acting like that in a game. Each to their own.

Muppeteer replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Continuing my tradition of posting one good game from playing at the weekend, and this time while playing as bottom tier in Atlantico. Was genuinely close and sadly missed out on the Kraken by deciding to ram the enemy Montana near the end and then changing my mind which made me run into some Shima torps. Full respect to our Shima for toughing it out and staying alive for the win. Was nice match :) -

I tend to mostly play CV for naval battle tries as an initial disclaimer (although im a pretty ok CV player, but I know us CV ppl aren't well liked here) and when I do so I tend to teamplay rather than farm. This one earlier netted me a whole lot of +1s. I posted in teamchat at start I would be helping our only DD on team. What followed was some enjoyable teamplay. The last screenshot is from our DD who sent me this PM after the match :) Almost shed a tear. Teamplay ftw. Edit: And just noticed I left his in game tag at top of last screenshot lol. Cant imagine he would mind. Naming and shaming for being nice surely isnt a thing. And I got sunk when enemy was down to 2 ships due to reversing out from my position rather than going forwards which was totally my fault, but also gave my team more time to get damage :) -
When does damage count as damage upon spotting?
Muppeteer replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Its still pretty straightforward - if you are the only one who is spotting the target you get the credit. As soon as the bots start firing then any of your team within their firing range will see them which means you are no longer the only spotter and so dont get the spot damage. Obviously in random its more common to be spotting targets than maybe arent shooting and yoloing in at your team so you will actually get the mission done a lot quicker (especially in a CV).
