    Torps a problem

I'd like to see you avoid the torps that I've just taken. Scenario: We had to take B, otherwise the game was lost anyway. We had 2 BB's and a CA, we were all sticking together, but B was inside islands. We knew they had a DD and 2 BB's left. We were firing at their 2 BB's when their DD comes from behind the island to our left (their BB's were to our right) and I started turning immediately. I do mean immediately. He released his torps and was easily within 400m of me. I was at 39k / 41.5k. I managed to avoid the first 2, but the other 4 hit me. There was nothing I could do to avoid them, due to them being so close. Whereas if they had an actual arming range that didn't allow them to basically be a free kill when they're that close, I wouldn't have to had to worry about a DD. You may take the 'professional' stance and say that you could have dodged them, or you would have done things differently, but there was nothing to be done differently. I was detonated by a torpedo yesterday, when one out of six hit me yesterday, and as rare as a detonation is, they may as well make it a common occurrence allowing DD's to be so close to drop torpedoes. I'm fine with them being 3-4km away, but within 1km is ridiculous. There are times when it's impossible to dodge, and impossible to not be in that situation. Now, I've tried DD's for a few games, and have gotten to the Wickes. Almost to the Clemson (I believe that is the next ship) and this is by far the easiest class of ship I have played. All you need do is hide, pop out when they're close and they can't do anything. They are literally helpless.

    Torps a problem

If there's at least a dozen of them a day, doesn't that reflect on how newer players feel about them in general? Considering it's always Alpha and Beta players who are defending destroyers and torpedoes in general, perhaps you don't actually realise what they're like when you're new.
  4. Just a few quick questions regarding torpedoes and destroyers. As I just read a few threads regarding destroyers countering anything regarding they can get close enough, due to them being so 'fragile', I'd like to ask why people think they're so fragile? Anything can be one hit, but a destroyer takes, usually, at least a minute or more to kill (including reload). By this time, you're dead due to how close they can get. Shouldn't there be a minimum range for torpedoes, an arming range if you will? I've just had a destroyer pull up literally beside me, after I landed 6 shots of HE from my SoCo into him (fragile...) and torpedo me from approximately 20m away. I've started to forget about other BB's, CV's, CA's and everything and just focus on DD's. That's how shitty they are right now. Would a 2-3km arming range not make things a bit more fair?

    Torpedoes and Destroyers

Can't say I've been far down the line, but the Wickes is pretty easy in my opinion. Last game I played, I managed to get 4 kills, 2 on enemy destroyers, another on a cruiser and another on a battleship that was out in the open. Destroyer's are pretty damn fun. From what I've played (albeit very few games), they speedboat around, release a few torps and get kills easy peasy. Yeah, perhaps I'm still just in my NF mindset where Battleships were king, with CV's being very good as well, with destroyers just being a nuisance. I miss the accuracy of NF.

    Torpedoes and Destroyers

I have tried playing a few games on the NA server with them. They're not for me. Anyhow, I don't understand how playing something and getting blown up by cruisers is equivalent to surviving against a BB that broadsides you. I do understand that they're meant to be glass cannons, and as they are now, survive more damage than they should. In my mind, it's a bit like an arty bouncing off a tier 1 in World of Tanks, in terms of survivability. Evade or counter them? They already survive more than they should, in my mind at least, and unless you're a cruiser, then the 30 second reload and awful dispersion in a BB makes it hard enough as it is to kill a DD. It's hard to evade something that goes a lot faster than you, is pretty much a speedboat and can release weapons that you cannot dodge at that minimal distance, which will pretty much kill you. Not to mention the smoke (which I realise has been nerfed somewhat) and concealment allows them to get awfully close anyway.

    Torpedoes and Destroyers

Well I just tore the same DD apart in my St. Louis, yet somehow find this impossible in my SoCo, albeit I landed a lot more shots in my St. Louis, but the shots of the South Carolina should have had a lot more devastating effect, correct? I don't think my secondaries were even firing, or even hit, as he didn't take him any damage after my first 6 main battery shots. It was an IJN DD. He was pretty damn close, almost on top of me actually. Although the distances in game are easy to misjudge. Although I understand that this is in fact great advice, I don't believe a DD should be able to get this close, survive 6 main battery HE shots from a BB and still kill said BB. With the amount of damage they do, they should be an extreme glass cannon, not somewhat fragile. They already have smoke and unbelievable maneuverability, so why does it still take sometimes 2 full barrages to kill them? (Depending on RNG.) Depending on RNG, he obviously wasn't. I landed 6 out of the 8 shots I fired at him. Think I did approximately 4-5k health, which is still ludicrously low, considering he has around 10k to start with and he just took an almost full broadside from a battleship. Then again, I've just played a game where a cruiser did 30k damage with HE to my SoCo. So it's not HE that is the problem. It just seems to be that BB's are extremely underwhelming.
