The special camos are really rare. Got 5 out of 29 containers. -
Okay, I'm giving this another shot. Let's hope the forum doesn't eat the post this time. Full comparison of Kamikaze (left) and Minekaze (right) base stats. Returning Player looking for some advice :)
Nechrom replied to Nanopizza's topic in General Discussion
The BB situation is a bit annoying with max amounts of BBs almost every battle, thankfully 5 per side is the limit. IJN CAs are relatively good in this situation though with the best HE shells of all cruisers. Furutaka is pretty typical of IJN CA but the rate of fire gets better as you go and then at tier 10 you get some really comfortable guns on the Zao with great ballistics. Having torpedoes which are actually usable in non-suicidal situations is also pretty nice. I don't know much about French cruisers above tier 8, but they feel like another line of HE spammers but with worse HE than the IJN. Not seeing much about that line which would make me pick it over the IJN tbh. I think that for HE you either pick IJN or RU, both have a different approach to it. -
Multiplicative. [Upgrade #1] x [Upgrade #2] x [Base value]

Judging by how easy people seem to be getting chat banned, I should have been chat banned like 100s of times by now. I can go on pretty epic rants in some battles, yet I've never once been chat banned.

Admiral's Edition Captain's Edition Standard Yup. Special camo and flag only in the super expensive bundle.

Good to know : 0.6.1.2 indirect German BBs buff
Nechrom replied to PseudoMi's topic in General Discussion
Is it a buff if you could already do it before? The question is if it's worth it to sit and only do secondary damage for 1+ min and take no/minimal damage in return, or if it would be better to just be spotted and do main gun damage as well. It's definitely going to depend on how out of position you are, but I'm guessing you'll always want to be using main guns and be spotted unless you are really low on health or really overextended. -
The "Giulio Cesare" is in "Premium" shop!

*pushes up glasses* Well actually it's 11.4km. -
RIP Dunkerque, Guilio Cesare is better and tier lower
Nechrom replied to Jvd2000's topic in Battleships
I'm not sure I would go so far as to claim that GC is straight up better than Dunkerque, but I do think GC is better for its tier compared to the Dunkerque. Dunkerque has three main advantages outside of simple health advantage. Amazing AP performance which isn't topped until the USN 406mm (Colorado), IJN 410mm (Nagato) and KM 380mm (Gneisenau) shells. Much better survivability both from belt armor, citadel layout and 25mm bow/stern/deck armor instead of 19mm which the GC has. Gun placement allowing for 8 shell salvos in the position you will most likely want to be in most of the time, and a position the GC needs to be in most of the time due to the horrible belt armor and citadel layout. Where she lacks the most is concealment and accuracy. -
So much humor to mine on this score screen. Kamikaze. Simultaneously the best and the worst premium ship. Kamikaze R, much better than the regular Kamikaze. What do people play? Premium ships and new lines. Tier 7. Where all the tier 5 BBs gather. Free premium battlesheep. Gud for game, da!

Nechrom replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Being able to stealth up is so strong, just like with the October Revolution. That and the agility makes her play more like a cruiser but with actually powerful guns. It's like a Graf Spee but with no frills (torpedoes, plane, hydro etc) and instead just good guns. -
Not sure why the AP shells are worse than on the d'Aosta. The only upgrade to the guns seem to be the HE velocity and number of guns. AP is worse both in damage and velocity. Better concealment is nice and slightly better turn radius, but rudder shift is worse and the health is not higher by a lot. Armor is better but again not by much. Slower by 2.5 knots. Seems almost like a side-grade. Can this really work at tier 7?
-
Higher HE shell damage, higher torp damage, slower torp reload, worse/no AA, slightly shorter gun range, slower max speed, better gun layout/angles (subjective?) and worse rudder shift. tl;dr - Armament (guns and torps) are better on the Kamikaze/Fujin, while almost everything else is slightly worse. I'll see if I can bother listing the exact numbers. To be continued... EDIT: F*** it! Had half the comparison written but then the forum ate my post. I don't care enough to redo it again.

Intentional gimping of (non-premium ship) BASE XP for the Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya marathon?

I cheated and used the Sims. -
The "Giulio Cesare" is in "Premium" shop!
Nechrom replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
In my first battle I one-shot a Kuma with a triple citadel at the start. Then I also citadelled another cruiser through the stern at max range and he got finished off by someone else. Combined with 2 of our DDs getting 3 Dev-strikes between them super early, the battle ended after only 4 min. GG -
When they were introduced they were virtually identical to the Minekaze. People wanted a premium version of the Minekaze simply because she was such a generally well liked ship and universally seen as a ship worth keeping. Then when the IJN DD line got split they nerfed the low tier IJN DDs including the Minekaze and instead of also nerfing the premiums they were to be excluded from future sale. I also don't think premium ships should be targeted by nerfs for balance reasons, but neither should they be exempt from overall changes. What do you disagree with specifically?
-
Owners of the Kamikaze/Kamikaze R/Fujin have had those ships for a while now. They are good grinders and fun ships so get played a lot and with high skill captains. Being premium they have no "stock" battles. The new Minekaze is a "grind through and sell" ship so the number of battles your average player will be spending with her is very low and only a small part of the battles are played fully upgraded. No doubt the old premiums are better ships than the "new" Minekaze. But the actual difference isn't nearly as big as the stat difference.

Nagato is a great ship. It's one of the most accurate battleships in the game coupled with powerful shells, a very mobile and, for a Japanese battleship, a pretty well armored hull. You can even use her secondary battery to a limited degree. Having only 8 guns and being very accurate requires you to aim well to do damage. But when you manage to get off a well aimed volley you get rewarded.

200x Camo packs in Premium Shop becoming absurdly expensive ?
Nechrom replied to PseudoMi's topic in General Discussion
It's the older one from 2015. Same bonus on both just different looks. -
Makes a good candidate for AA skills and upgrades. Other than that it can use normal BB builds. Fire Prevention is nice since you have limited DCP uses. Concealment Expert is a must since she can get extremely good concealment for a BB.

Tier 9 with 460 mm cannons.Very balanced.
Nechrom replied to gorobeasca19's topic in General Discussion
It's worse in practice since they have balanced bow and stern armor the way they have. 410mm guns don't overmatch any heavier armor plate than the 380mm guns which we've already had at those tiers for a long time. But 460mm is just enough to overmatch 32mm of armor which all high tier BBs use as bow and stern plating. Historically the Mutsu and Musashi early configurations are based on the same idea by WG, same class as a current ship but in an earlier configuration one tier lower. The biggest difference is what that "early configuration" means for both ships. That's where they differ almost completely. Mutsu shares the weaker AA with the Musashi as you would expect with an earlier configuration before wartime refits, but that's where the similarities end. Mutsu is otherwise practically the same as the Nagato with the exception of the big one, main gun shell performance. Which is ironically basically the only thing the Musashi shares with the Yamato. So the same idea, but very different results in practice. tl;dr - Mutsu compared to Nagato, bad AA and awful AP shells. Musashi compared to Yamato, bad EVERYTHING except for main gun shells and armor. -

Nechrom replied to gorobeasca19's topic in General Discussion
There's something about nerfing and downtiering ships that doesn't sit well with me. You get aspects which are too powerful for the tier, things inherent with the ship which can't be changed, but then also other attributes which are over-nerfed to compensate. We just end up with a really awkward ship that doesn't fit anywhere. It's like sailing an old A-hull IJN BB. I much prefer things the other way around. It's much easier to buff a ship to punch above it's original weight class. You also end up with a ship which often feels more powerful due to much better soft stats. -
PSA - Patch 0.6.12 size is about 3 GB
Nechrom replied to ThePurpleSmurf's topic in General Discussion
Time to hook up the phone and do some tethered internet sharing. Ironically my wired connection (ADSL) lands at just under 8/1 Mbit/s while my phone has access to 30-90/8 Mbit/s depending on the time of day. I would have my phone hooked up 24/7 if that connection didn't have worse latency. Fiber can't get installed fast enough. -
