    Overpens.....effing overpens

While you do need to hit a certain level of effective armor in order for your shells to arm, that's not really the issue if you are hitting the citadel as that is always protected by the belt armor. Even the biggest shells in the game needs to only hit 77mm of effective armor to arm, so as long as you hit the belt your shells are going arm on everything but DDs. What tends to create overpenetrations despite this is the fuse delay on the shells. Often what happens at closer ranges with high velocity BB shells is that you'll punch clean through the citadel before the shell detonates. Personally I don't see the reason why this is even a feature. If a CL gives you full broadside at close range when you have all guns fully aimed and loaded, you should just be able to devastate him, but instead you hit his citadel with 7 x 410mm shells and do like 8k damage. It feels more like an oversight in the design of the game mechanics.

English cruiser - A bit too squishy

I still enjoy the Atago (repair and 41mm deck) and Zao (troll armor and nice rudder shift). Both with great concealment as well.
  3. Depends entirely on what kind of ranges we're talking about. And with a CV rework I assume they're not just adding a single feature. If they end up going with range restrictions they will obviously make it work in combination with other changes. Although I didn't see this coming, I have had a feeling that they are looking to make overarching changes which puts CVs in a position closer to that of the other classes. Not just closer as in physically on the map, but more in a sense of being involved in the battle, instead of just sitting in satellite view playing RTS. What routes they take to get there I don't know. Maybe a more "in the action" way of controlling squads, who knows.
  4. Or simply range restrictions. Makes sense as an abstraction of something real and also to limit the impact that CVs can have on a battle. It would also probably make them easier to pick up for new players since you only need to focus on a certain part of the map. And suddenly different CV stats become more valuable if you need to follow your fleet to some degree. EDIT: Damn, got beat to the punch several hours ago...

    Dud Torpedos

This is the exact frame where the torps are launched: That's not a lot of distance to cover. Obviously client-side the torps armed, so that means from your perspective they should have. No question about that. But in extreme edge cases like this, desync can make that crucial bit of difference.

    Alternative history....what if...

    It's the snow camo.

    Dud Torpedos

When they hit, yes. But that's not how that indicator works. The Kamikaze is moving away from the GC, fires the rearmost launchers and the GC is moving into the torpedoes. So not only is the range between the DD and the BB increasing between the launch and the hit, the range the torpedoes got to travel is also less than the distance between the DD and the BB when they were launched. Adding to this I'm pretty sure, though I have no proof of this, that the arming range indicator isn't accurate for every case since it's centered on the middle of the ship and I would imagine the arming range is the same range for every torpedo on the ship. So the indicator would be incorrect for launchers not mounted at the exact middle point of the ship.
  8. You know, these topics about something someone would like to get changed/added, would go over much better without stupid fallacies about "cash grabs" and other completely pointless accusations leveled at the company you are trying to get to do what you want.

    Collectors club

    Unfortunately hope isn't in season.
  10. I'm on the final stage now. Just playing some random ships getting XP. Unlocked it by first doing the Duke of York task (Dev Strike), then the "11 torp hits with RN ships" and last but not least 75k XP.

    Dud Torpedos

No bug. They didn't arm yet. Just because they displayed as armed doesn't mean they actually did it server-side. The same way you'll see torpedoes passing underneath ships or detonating in the water in front of them, it's down to desync.

    No Campaigns for COOP?

WG if the requirements were unchanged. Us if the requirements were to be raised to fit the challenge.

    WG your missions are *edit

I'm more using the non-specific "you" than talking about you personally. Though the quote might not have given that impression. That's unfortunate about your situation, but it's still a fringe case. It's literally impossible to make missions that every single player will complete unless there are no requirements other than having a WG account. Can you honestly say that the requirements for the event was objectively unreasonable?

    WG your missions are *edit

The point is that out of 20 missions, there are bound to be a couple which are not catering to you specifically. You can always bring up excuses why something is a problem for you. But at the end of the day looking at the event objectively where you need 15 out of 20 missions finished and almost every mission is super easy, it's a good event. Complaining about a single isolated mission out of 20 being difficult (for you specifically) when you could skip 5 over the course of the event, doesn't make sense. WG gave you the tools to finish the event. It's not their fault you don't own a single CV. It's not their fault you chose to do something else on 5 of the days. If you intend to complete the required missions, then plan for it from the start. That includes preparing for the possibility that a few missions will not be super simple for you.

I see someone left it to the last day. You reap what you sow.

    [Therory crafting] After Musashi...?

Then it just becomes a discussion about any possible premium ship to add. I'll throw my hat into the ring and propose HMS Tre Kronor. Since WG would never be able to make a Swedish cruiser line, it would be safe to add as a premium. 7 DP 152mm guns @ 10 rpm (15 rpm in AA role). Similar displacement as Leander so similar HP. 33 knot speed. Only 70mm belt. 20 x 40mm AA and 7 x 25mm AA. 2 x 3 533mm torpedoes. Could fit tier 6 or 7 depending on if you give it smoke or not. Monster AA platform either way and great dpm, but fragile.

    [Therory crafting] After Musashi...?

I honestly don't think adding tier 9 premiums will become a regular thing. The Missouri was a "produced for China" ship and basically a case of them having the ship ready so why not make use of it on the other servers as well. Musashi is an easy low-effort Yamato remake specifically made to take Missouri's place since Missouri both turned out to be too good and too cheap. I guess you can play around with the idea just because it's fun to speculate and imagine tier 9 premiums. Personally I'm interesting in seeing where they put the Alaska if it ever makes it into the game, which I assume it eventually will. I think you could balance it for a lot of different tiers, but since it's a modern design for the scope of the game I think it would fit best at tier 8-10.

    New Japan tier 10 cruiser

Now that sounds way more interesting.

    New Japan tier 10 cruiser

No disrespect but that looks awful. Yamato with 6 tiny guns (for the hull), a few shitty 127mm mounts and basically nothing else. Doesn't look like anything which could have been made. Way too large hull for what is put on it. I remember seeing some other historical CA/BC proposals which actually looked good and pretty realistic.

    New Japan tier 10 cruiser

45°, 42°, 40° and 35° in order of severity. That's about as bad as you can get.

    New Japan tier 10 cruiser

The only thing I want for my Zao is better gun angles. Everything else is fine.
  22. Having only a couple of people getting banned for using the most popular modpack available seems a bit suspicious to me, almost like it's not due to the modpack at all. Since it's done by an automated system it should pick up everyone using the offending mod(s), right? What's extra suspicious is that the same guy got banned twice. Makes you think that it might be due to something else.

    British Cruisers are CRAP!

Tonight I accidentally played a battle in my Edinburgh with fighter instead of smoke . Still came top of the team in a tier 9 battle. If someone can't make the RN CLs work it's a problem with the player, not the ship.
  24. That's something you don't see every day. Though I think you should post in the older topic instead of making a new one:
