Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Nechrom replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
That would be valid if there was ever a reason to use the barracks in the first place. I interact with the barracks perhaps once in a three month period. -
At this point WG would have already implemented something using karma if they ever were going to. For now we get the ability to report more times in a system which does nothing.

Going so far as removing the horizontal guide on your crosshair is considered griefing (your own team) and is for that reason not allowed.
-
That's unfortunate. But I do have sympathy for support staff being extra careful when handling account security. It's often way too easy to social engineer your way past support staff and gain access to accounts and/or information that you shouldn't.
-
"Min dispersion" is a bit misleading. The confusing but more correct term would be "min max dispersion". As it specifies the lowest your max dispersion will be as it decreases due to range (closer to the ship that is firing).
-
This is not from personal observations, but I've also not seen anything myself that would contradict it. It's lifted from what others have extrapolated from more controlled testing i.e. no camo, signals or other bonuses and while looking at the entire picture of the end results using what we know about the way rewards are divvied up. As @_Helmut_Kohl_ pointed out LWM did a comparison test and I've read about the credit bonus of Missouri before that (50%). Of course none of this is first party information since WG doesn't give out those values and it's server side so no way to data-mine it.

Being fixed. The entire ship model is way more detailed than the Yamato which happens to have one of the, of not THE, oldest model in the game. As far as I know only the gun turrets are shared between the two models. So it's not so much that the Musashi had different details (like the bow emblem) than the Yamato, but more that the Yamato has a really rough model in comparison. Yes, her credit multiplier is something like 20-30% which is pretty standard for premium ships. The Missouri's credit multiplier is almost double that if I'm not mistaken. So the only thing which makes the Musashi better than other premium ships at gathering credits (excluding the Missouri) is her position at tier 9 and her battle performance. Personally I'm definitely leaning towards her being OP as well. You wouldn't think so initially when looking at how balanced Yamato is at tier 10. But if you know how to play the Yamato and there is no CV gunning for you, you are essentially playing a Yamato at tier 9 and you will see plenty of tier 9 battles. People like to focus on the 1.8 sigma as a weakness, but it's still an average BB sigma rating and with IJN dispersion. As long as you're not expecting Yamato shell groupings you won't be disappointed. The biggest issue she has is ironically that tier 9 battles are significantly more mobile than tier 10, for whatever reason. So when you find a great position where you are really strong and have lots of targets, your team often just leaves you, enemy DDs slip through and you are suddenly the rear guard of your team in a big BB being chased by invisible enemy DDs.

I've served my time, so I'm fine with coming clean. I got a 24h ban for a single exit to port. It was the first time I've done it to my knowledge. Now I can't be absolutely certain that was the reason because getting any info from support is like getting blood from a stone. Maybe @MrConway can corroborate my interpretation of it.

Or to put it in terms WG is more likely to implement: partial refund. No questions asked (automated) refund if a certain criteria is fulfilled (e.g. no more than 10 battles and no later than one week after purchase).

Isn't her overmatch basically the same as other BBs except against tier 8+ KM CA?

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
Nechrom replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Just noticed this in the latest patch notes article and wanted to share in, what can be considered, the official rumor-mill topic. For those who didn't spot it: Mutsuki getting new torps/torp launchers? -
I'll play the Devil's Advocate here (no disrespect meant to @MrConway ). Some items that WG sells has an investment cost associated with them, like: premium ships, unique captains, camos and flags. Some less, some more. For things like premium ships it's pretty easy to make back the investment cost on the ship alone as long as it's not getting garbage reviews. The market and demand for the ships are such that people are willing to pay a decent chunk of cash for them. When it comes to flags and to a lesser extent camos I assume that the break-even point is way lower so they don't need to make a lot of money back. Often those can just be the cherry on top for everything from in-game mission/campaigns/collections to incentives for premium shop bundles. Now I'm the most uncertain about the development cost behind unique captains (limited art + voice work and in this case also license), but I assume they land somewhere in the middle. Now the issue with this is that the basic economy of the game puts the value of a generic commander very low, even below a permanent camo. So if they were to offer them individually un-bundled at market price + collectible markup (some have mentioned 3-4€), they would probably not make a reasonable amount of money on that sale. So they add additional items to the commanders, which adds market value but at no extra development cost. Now I want to be clear that there is a right and a wrong way to do this. Adding digital goods to bundles should be done in one of two ways. One way is if you only want to offer one bundle in which case it's important that you include items which has the broadest use to the highest number of players. Doubloons are pretty good, so is dragons flags, since doubloons have a wide use and dragon flags rarely pile up and are useful for anyone who plays. Neither of those items has a time limit either, which brings me to the items not to include. Premium time is awful since it is time based and so will be almost wasted on more casual players. Items available for credits are also really bad since there are tons of people sitting on massive mountains of credits and a single battle in a good premium ship will pay for 20-30 premium consumables, the credit inflation is real. The other alternative for doing the bundles is to have multiple more focused bundles. This is something WG has already introduced with new premium ship releases and it's very welcome. Now the people who really would like to get their ship pre-loaded with upgrades and a decent reserve of consumables can get that, while I can have some more doubloons and signal flags instead to use at my leisure on anything I like. The price point at which someone will "nope-out" will vary from person to person, but out of the players and WG, I can safely say that WG has the best idea of where that point is on average. They have the numbers and it's in their best interest to do the research. If they miss the mark they will quickly find out without having to be told by the players. But as for the contents of the bundles, time-frames, quality of the items etc, I'm sure they are happy to get feedback.

I'm having fun figuring out the Roma. She plays a bit strange compared to other BBs. But it's all very straight forward once you get the hang of it. No gimmicks to keep track of like AA, secondaries, special consumables etc. She controls pretty decently. No Alabama turning, but enough for a tier 8 BB. The guns are both a blessing and a curse. Incredible comfortable to swing around and track targets. But they are definitely like KM BB guns when it comes to dispersion, but unlike the KM guns she has great penetration over almost any distance. Her armor layout makes her very powerful when angled and she takes very little damage from cruiser and secondary spam. She's just as weak as any other BB against RN BB HE and takes massive damage against more accurate BBs at close range if you just under-angle a bit. But when you are at range you can just stealth up when you want to do broadside exposing maneuvers. She's in this spot where her guns makes her sub-optimal against cruisers and DDs, but can tank their guns and torps well. On the flip-side the great penetration of her guns makes her very effective at damaging other BBs and since they are bigger targets her inaccuracy isn't as detrimental, but show too much side and any BB can end you quickly. Anecdotal experience: She seems to lose her B-turret all the time. I had it knocked out 3 times in one battle. Yes, I'm running MAM1. Seriously considering speccing into PM.

This topic is even more funny to me because I scored a triple citadel hit on a Roma at a decent range in my Musashi the first battle I took her out. Suffice to say the results were even more impressive.

It's a mission (repeatable 60 times if you buy the big bundle) which rewards +200% captain XP. The only requirements are to play a battle (win or loss) with HSF Graf Spee, HSF Harekaze, Musashi or Yamato. Also apparently if you buy multiple different(?) bundles, like several of the single captain packs. You end up with several of these mission and they stack so that you complete all of them at the same time, giving you insane captain XP bonuses (200% x [number of bundles bought]).

Roma - please change the Kobayashi camo, before it's too late

For those interested, there is now a mod to remove the keg: https://sea-group.org/?p=3910&lang=en -
I'm sorry that everyone can't get everything for free immediately with no time spent. Also, by definition your front door is locked until you put aside time to get up and walk over to it and unlock it.

Closer than Yamato? Probably, but Yamato is also a unicorn in that regard. Musashi is not inaccurate compared to other BBs.
-
I did a quick calculation and you're easily better off buying the bundle even if you already own the two older captains. The only situation where getting the individual packs makes sense is if you don't want the Harekaze camo and only want one or two specific captains. The big bundle comes with 60 of the +200% captain XP missions fyi, as they didn't specify that in the shop.

By that definition nothing past tier 1 is free. They have access, but they might not own them. They have until 0.7.5 to get either. That's their choice. I don't see how this is a problem. If most campaigns and collections was like this then sure. But why can't we have both? Especially when it's literally only about getting a Yamato camo and some cosmetic flags.

That's not how the law works. Just because the files are on your computer doesn't give you an unlimited license to use them how you want. As you yourself point out: It's all about licenses. Whether you have purchased a disk of some media or if you have some files on your computer, the important thing is what license they come with. When you buy a DVD it comes with a limited license for private viewing. When you buy a digital anime captain in WoWs you're getting a similar license but with appropriate digital service caveats. So, no, circumventing licenses by using copyrighted media you haven't purchased rights to is not a good idea in general. If WG would take any action is another completely different story.

I'm not familiar with the legal terms of service in regards to what you can do with media you've purchased, so I don't know. If you're going through all that trouble I'd let you off the hook from a moral standpoint at least. Do they offer non-premium streaming for all their content? Either way, if you want to own it you still have to pay.

Is average sigma on 460mm guns with IJN dispersion a weakness? They don't reload any slower than other heavy BB guns, so you're not going to be relying on their accuracy more than other BBs are. Comparing her to Yamato is all well and good, but then you realize that in battles without CVs the differences are very small for getting a drop in tier. Compared to other tier 9 BBs she's a beast, both offensively and defensively. No brawler that's for sure, but IJN BBs have never done that well.
