Then let me math this one out for you. Imagine if you somehow manage to mess up your use of Damage Control Party as much as possible and you get hit by a torpedo the second after the last DCP you used ran out. You're looking at a 60 second cooldown if you are using the credit version of DCP and no skills or signals affecting the consumable cooldown. So since flooding has a 90 second duration, during which it does a total of 60% damage, you are looking at taking at the absolute worst 40% of your max HP in damage. Now if you actually think that flooding is a problem, use captain skills and signals that lowers the cooldown of DCP, and the max damage you will ever take from flooding decreases even more. That's what they are there for.

April Fools content being used to try out a potential new class of ships? I remember back when I suggested adding support ships that could control several smaller vessels like torpedo boats and even corvettes or frigates. Should be interesting to see how they play when actually added to the game.

Aigle marathon, how's your progress been so far?

How is your progress with campaign "Gold of France" (of three stages)?
Nechrom replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
For me it has become a stupid obsession. But if you have the ships required I would go for it in this case since there were no really annoying tasks. When I did the North Cape campaign with honors I had to complete that "be the first to spot a KM BB using a RN CL". That's what nightmares are truly made of. Also I doubt I'll finish the Yamamoto campaign with honors any time in the foreseeable future. -

There is a difference between "making certain campaigns available to only certain ships" and providing more/easier ways to complete a campaign with specific ships. -
Aigle marathon, how's your progress been so far?
Nechrom replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
As I posted in the other topic: I don't remember any of the missions stressing me out. But I did have to grudgingly take out the Saipan in order to get the 30 plane kills. CV players were nowhere to be found. I had already bought the Aigle, so for me it was just for a few million credits, a 6 point captain and a port slot. But it provided a basic goal. If I'm going to be playing anyway I might as well complete it. -
Using words out of context does not trivialize actual bullying and abuse. The intent and context is what matters. If words end up becoming more popular in a different context from their original one, then it is the new usage of these words which becomes normalized. Except you'll find that the EU and most democratic countries have similar conventions when it comes to freedom of expression. Private platforms such as this forum are of course at the mercy of its owner, just like in the US. Freedom of Expression can of course be overridden by other laws when it comes to various situations where it intersect with other people's rights. But as for insulting someone or using language they disapprove of, you're pretty much in the clear as long as you don't wander into defamation or racial/religious persecution territories.

Done 5 days ago with honors. Stage 2 was a bit grindy especially getting ribbons with FR BBs. Stage 1 and 3 flew by without friction. -
Flamu's Discussion - WoWS: The Focus On Damage
Nechrom replied to xScoundrelx's topic in General Discussion
You missed the entire point Flamu was making. Did you actually watch the video? Most good players will already know what gives rewards and what contributes towards victory. But for players who for whatever reason hasn't figured this out there is almost nothing indicating to them that spotting, tanking, capping and resetting caps are things they should do. Meanwhile there are tons of awards and direct feedback that tells them that doing damage is a good thing. While I would love to get actual rewards for more actions contributing towards a victory, Flamu is talking more about pushing the majority of uninformed players towards doing those things in the first place. They don't know what actually gives them any rewards so changing the rewards distribution wouldn't affect their playstyle unless you also started rolling out achievements and ribbons for those things at the same time. The video isn't supposed to be a final draft to be immediately implemented into the game tomorrow, no need to pick out tiny possible issues like radar ships getting better rewards. That is by the way already a huge part of the game. Ships aren't balanced against each other when it comes to rewards. DDs who are good at capping and fighting other DDs get more rewards than those specializing in fighting BBs. Practically any ship whose niche is fighting BBs will get worse rewards.- 88 replies

Aaand done. Because some collections do come back for a second chance at finishing them. And that is how they should be approached. Not comparing them to actual professional work which would get you paid money. Any RN BB really. I got the mission halfway done while playing random ships that I just wanted to play. Then I finished it with one KGV battle.

I'm much more annoyed by how some people don't understand how language works and evolves over time. The entire purpose of swearing and insults in language is to pick up powerful negative words. Certain words are used precisely because they still cause some negative reaction in people. The only way to move on is to not start topics like these over what random people say and write on the internet. If your point was to not use vulgar language and insults in-game at all, then fair enough. That's an opinion you can have. But singling out trigger words only helps those words grow in power, which makes them even better for the purpose that they are used in modern language. For instance, my mother has cancer and I still use the word as negative weight in other circumstances because that's how language works and using the word out of context does not diminish what she or my family has gone through.

Thanks! The code worked for me.

While I disagree with your general glum outlook on the game as it is, I do agree that it could benefit from more personality and a reason to get invested beyond just wanting to play with some ships and collect them. Sometimes I think WG plays it too safe when it comes to features which run little risk of causing damage to the game. Everything is rolled out slowly over a long time, often in installments. For changes potentially effecting balance that's a good thing, for other changes and addition I think they could benefit from working up to something big and release something you can really get excited about. The last time they changed something which fundamentally altered my day to day play, was the containers replacing daily missions. Everything since then has been very situational and dependent on what and how you play. Campaigns and collections were good additions, but still they are just streamlined and improved vehicles for mission driven content. They lubricate the grind, so to say.

Actually, the standard is 2. For premium players it's 3.

Collecting defeats day after day isn't motivating anymore to keep playing this game !
Nechrom replied to Herbstnebel1975's topic in General Discussion
First off I don't think the simple answer is that WoWs uses a system just because WG has patented it. Nothing else is indicating that WoWs uses such a system. Secondly Occam's Razor isn't about the simplest explanation, but the one requiring you to make the lesser and least number of assumptions. An explanation can be incredibly complex and still pass Occam's Razor because it is based on solid facts and logic instead of assumptions and guesswork. -

Grinding - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Nechrom replied to dayofmone's topic in General Discussion
I don't know what your expectation was if you came to the conclusion that the Gold of France campaign was bad/grindy/unfun. To me it was probably the easiest one we've had so far. Was it perfect? Of course not. Very limited ship requirements always tend to make the tasks more of a chore. I personally didn't enjoy the task where you needed to grind ribbons with French BBs. It was a bit too much seeing as you don't normally get many ribbons in BBs unless you park point-blank next to an enemy BB and farm secondary hits. But aside from that specific task I had no problem completing the campaign while still having fun. It helped that I really enjoy the Aigle of course. Both the 1st and 3rd Stage was done in less than a day, only the 2nd stage took any meaningful amount of time. Please keep in mind that the duration of campaign is 3+ weeks. Your proposed alternative is something which could fit for a weekend event or at most 7 days. -

I don't understand what the point of this topic is. Posting random battle results as if it would indicate something. You know what? A single battle doesn't mean anything. 100 battles doesn't mean anything. Your results after 1000+ battles will start to mean something. Guess what they mean? They mean that you are a bad player. You can become a good player if you do your best and drop the attitude that you're not the one in control of your own win rate. Be observant all through the battle, not just regarding what you are doing, but how the entire battle is unfolding. You will start to see where battles begin shifting towards a loss and then you will have the information necessary to apply yourself towards stopping that. Eventually you will not just be reacting but also be proactive when you know what wins and what loses battles. I have days where I can pull off 10 defeats in a row and don't feel like I can point at anything I did wrong. Then I'll have win streaks other days. They even out and eventually in the long run I end up with a win rate indicating how many battles I managed to influence positively or negatively. It's the same for everyone. If you truly want to know "what went wrong" in individual battles and you can't analyze it yourself. Post a replay or even better, record video and post to YouTube. Your scorecard at the end tells us practically nothing unless it shows something exceptional. -
Kappa is currently captaining the Colorado since I have dedicated captains already for most other ships. Maybe I'll find some other use for him after the cruiser line split. Amazon Prime/Twitch Prime is actually pretty affordable. At least for the first 6 months. I like that you only need Amazon Prime Video to get the benefits. So 7 days for free, 6 months for 2.99€/month and then if you still like it 5.99€/month after that. I can see myself checking out some of the Amazon exclusive shows actually, so at the introductory price it's a bargain. So from my point of view, promotion successful!

Can't play Battleships, because of battleships

It's not that bad. You just have to wait a minute or two. Every time a new line is released it's the same. -
"Gold of France" - Nice Campaign with worrying precedents?
Nechrom replied to Admiral_H_Nelson's topic in General Discussion
I found it a pleasant experience. A small campaign with a (for its size) generous time frame. I did find gathering large amounts of ribbons with French BBs to be a bit rough, but I could have skipped that one if I didn't want to go for the "with honors". So that was self-inflicted pain. Non! Ma petite dame!
