WG: Please Ban The Mod That Place 'X' on the Map
Nechrom replied to TheFierceRabbit's topic in General Discussion
It is also perfectly possible to know where to aim, yet aim-assist is banned. It's about the level of advantage it gives, not whether or not you could theoretically do what the mod does for you. -
new patch is a buff to all BBs, especially FR BBs

Confirmation bias. French BBs have very high penetration simply due to how their guns and shells work. -

Leander and Fiji does and they also get smoke. So there is no reason why a cruiser at that tier couldn't get repair unless it's really strong without it. Out of all the gimmicks I think that heal is the least annoying addition. It's useful in basically every battle, but it doesn't stop you from getting deleted if you do something stupid, unless it's a tier 8+ RN heal. -
I like them both. Both have really powerful AP shells and good ballistics. Slight edge to Roma. Gascogne is a race car, but Roma isn't a slouch either in the agility department. Roma gets better gun layout and traverse speed. The only gripe I have with the Roma which isn't an issue with the Gascogne is the really short range for a tier 8 BB.

WG: Please Ban The Mod That Place 'X' on the Map
Nechrom replied to TheFierceRabbit's topic in General Discussion
This is one of those mods which has so little actual use that it falls into that area of "giving advantage" as a number of different things you can do that WG has no control over, like: upgrading your setup, getting a better internet connection, not playing while tired etc. What's next? Are we also going to ban the mod that remembers the health of players, or the one that lists ship information like spotting range and torpedo range? -
When the missions are this easy you can't really complain about the requirements, even if they are specific. It's not something you have to bend over backwards in order to complete. If someone is playing stupid because of it, then that person is the type who would do so either way.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Nechrom replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Did a carry in a tier X battle with the pew pew DD Akizuki and without really feasting on any DDs. Has to be a first for me. -
Heavy cruiser displacement, no armor (literally) and 6 x 140mm guns. But hey, you can launch 25 planes.
-
But those are old Vickers Mark M guns. Same as the casemate mounted secondaries on early IJN BBs (Kongo and Fuso-class). If anything the dual mounts would reduce the rate of fire and accuracy, not improve it. You could of course give it access to the same upgrade as the Yubari (Aiming Systems Modification 0), but I doubt it would be enough. Same velocity and reload as the 140mm guns, 0.9kg more HE punch. Kuma gets the same number of guns at tier 4. Also, could anyone extrapolate the turning radius of a 174.5m length/15.2m beam ship? It's roughly the same length/beam ratio as the Furutaka. While we're being only semi-serious. Nisshin as tier 4?
-
The awkward ship in that lineup is the Agano. I love the ship, but the guns are super bad and I don't know if you could make 6 really bad CL guns work at tier 5. The only solution I can see is cranking down the visibility range and making sure she gets the hottest torpedoes, so she can sneak around and not get spotted by anything other than DDs. But she's unfortunately not a small ship.
-
Equal parts sense and imagination. That's when stuff really starts becoming interesting.
-
Okay then... Tier 5 - Agano Tier 6 - Oyodo Tier 7 - Mogami (current Mogami renamed to Suzuya) Tier 8 - Tone Reconnaissance cruiser line.

Would still be on top of a same class line in the same nation. That's what WG doesn't want. I assume they have some metrics indicating that they don't get enough play hours out of splits and secondary lines to justify the resources spent, compared to adding primary lines and new nations. And you can always argue for more full lines, it just depends on how much you care about having design-only ships and WG-projections. It's easier to justify in order to cobble together primary lines, but not so much for extra lines.
-
I remember WG stating that they don't plan on doing any more line splits after the USN CL/CA split. That might of course change, but from the sound of it they want to focus on new lines and new nations. We might see them adding the end of the 2nd IJN DD line at some point, but even that's pretty uncertain.
-
Went through a ton of my end results screenshots and I can honestly say that there are no low damage ones worth mentioning. Low tier DDs might go down in the 40-50k range, but no lower. Saw a Grozovoi one with only 47.5k damage and 11k XP and thought that it was pretty decent until I saw that it was only 1.6k base XP on a win. So no. No damage, no score.

I will say though to your argument about insults in general that the severity of the insult is also affected by the medium. The same word being used in an online game and in person holds two completely different weights. You can't just say that "well you wouldn't say [word] to someone in person". No, of course not, because it is much more severe when used in that context. Intent is everything. Only once you really care how someone feels will their reaction to the words be important, in both directions. You don't use words around people you care about that they find objectionable. Just like if you really aim to hurt someone, you pick the words that hits them the hardest.
-
That's not what the topic is about though. It's about what words the OP finds inappropriate to use as insults. Whether someone should or should not insult another person is a completely different topic.
-
False equivalency. Continuing along the same line of logic would mean that you can't call someone stupid because stupid people would take offense. Using racial slurs is wrong because it implies negative attributes to a race of people. Retard IS a negative attribute in itself. Even if every person in the world that would fit under the old definition of "retarded" are great people, doesn't mean that the actual attribute of retardation isn't objectively negative.

It has 3 more guns though. With higher alpha you should sacrifice some DPM. Still has better RPM than Zao, so... With that visibility I don't see an issue. It's looking to be a monster anyway. -
If I'm really uncertain how ships will turn I'll sometimes use wide spread if there are no better targets. Other times I might combine one tight with one wide just to get the effect of both.

And "stat farmers" are a tiny drop in the ocean of "for fun" players. If their numbers would suddenly double, you wouldn't even notice. Not to mention the much larger number of "stat farmers" who would rather gouge their eyes out than play CV. It has never been a popular class and the numbers have steadily declined from pre-nerf Midway days until now. It didn't help that the interface just got more and more awkward and buggy as time went on. -

The same reason why the two worst performing tier 10 DDs are also the two most played by a substantial margin. People play ships for other reasons than their performance. -
Once you hit tier 10 with the German ships you don't really get much use out of your secondaries anyway. I don't know about the French at tier 10, but at tier 8 (where I am) I wouldn't focus on secondaries. Bismarck/Tirpitz and to some extent FdG can be fun to go full secondary build, but even then I doubt that the return on upgrade and skill point investment is enough to justify it. Both lines have the same bad accuracy main guns. The Germans are a bit tankier due to more spread out armor. The French have better punch on their AP shells for better or worse. I think it's a toss up and it basically comes down to if you want BBs with speed boost or hydro.
