You are still giving players a way to avoid spending doubloons, even if the initial credit cost is higher. Let's say you want to keep the Mogami around but not using the same upgrades all the time. Under your system you'd have to pay roughly 8 mil credits extra to have 9 different upgrades to freely choose between on that ship. On average, depending on what upgrades we're talking about, that equals about 10 individual re-bought upgrades before you're coming off cheaper. It also doesn't cost you a single doubloon. If you instead were to buy another Mogami with a fresh set of upgrades at the current price, you'd have to pay 18'675'000 credits and 300 doubloons. That comes out at around 24 individual re-bought upgrades and 12 de-mounts. Another more realistic solution would be to simply pay a doubloon price to upgrade a ship to be "modular", at which point you can remove upgrades from it for free. Builds? Sure. But the number of players who swap upgrades for doubloons often enough to benefit from a system like that are so few that I don't think that it will ever be a priority for the UI department.

Around a year ago, but...

I think I need to post this again: I'd like to add that their site STILL says this.

Easier to implement, no. Cheaper for the player, yes. Try to see it from WGs perspective. When designing the system for the upgrades we have now they counted on us using doubloons to demount or credits to re-buy. That's all in their budget for the game economy. If you want them to change that, you need to keep the same average costs leaving the game economy or WG takes a monetary hit. So you're asking them to change the game in a way that both nets them less profit and decreases the credits leaving the economy. If you want something like this changed you need to offer an alternative doubloon and credit sink, but one which hopefully saves you doubloons and/or credits in the long run. If you have to pay each time you swap upgrades then you are less likely to do it, which is WGs incentive to change it into something where you are more likely to invest but also end up saving you currency in the end because you can now swap ship configurations freely.

They are that expensive because enough people are prepared to pay that price. If they weren't the price would be lower. There is such a small difference in value between for example the Tirpitz and let's say the Murmansk from a purely credit grind perspective. The "premium" cost comes from the entry into a higher tier even if that higher tier actually carries little practical value. So by having the price increase exponentially for higher tier premiums, you're not actually limiting the availability of the premium ship as a tool, but more as a sign of prestige, curio, collectible etc. If you truly want a premium ship for grinding purposes then you don't need a tier 8. Many other F2P games offer purely cosmetic goods for large sums of money which people gladly buy even though they hold no practical value whatsoever. Once again comparing different games and entertainment sources is fine when you need to make a purchase decision, but it's completely pointless in a discussion because value is entirely subjective. You can look at two different purchase options in 20 different ways and still not have accounted for all the different viewpoints of potential customers and their situation.

I have massive amount of invested money on both WoT and WT, both of which I barely play anymore. Looking back though I have no regrets since I've had more quality time with both games than I would expect for that investment. At a certain point you've gotten your return on the investment in the form of enjoyment and anything beyond that is just more value. But it's like you say very personal. Someone who appreciates a lot of different games might look at a big investment into one game differently than someone who really likes to dedicate themselves to a select few games at a time. That's not even considering every other non-gaming activity like local social activities, concerts, traveling, expensive food etc. It's fairly easy for me since I tend to not play a wide variety of games and like to find a few games which I can really pour myself into. Non-gaming activities also happen to be really expensive and short, so validating an in-game purchase while comparing it to those isn't too hard.

Returning beta player, need advice :).

In the lower tiers not much has changed. The Minekaze got nerfed a bit in concealment and torpedo options. Low tier CVs got stronger if a bit more limited when it comes to plane loadouts. A few captain skills no longer applies to 140-152mm guns on the CLs. A lot more has happened in the upper tiers. DP guns and higher caliber AA got buffed while the effect of the Defensive Fire consumable got nerfed. Some new captain skills got added and old ones got switched around which mostly effected the higher tiers since it buffed AA, secondary guns and health based on ship tier. USN DDs in the upper tiers got more useful torpedoes as well as the option to use the Defensive Fire consumable. Just now we got a new Radar consumable for the new high tier Russian cruisers and soon also the US cruisers. That's just a taste of the new changes and doesn't touch on the new ships which have been added. I recommend that you take a long look at all the captain skills before choosing them since there is so much new stuff and many changes. Since you used to play CVs you might also want to get familiar with the manual and automatic torpedo/bomb drop mechanics, since those changed a few times. Fighters also got an active ability which you should try to learn. The way the victory conditions work for most map types has also changed. The rule of thumb is that there no longer is a risk of a draw, as all maps now track points based on sunk ships in addition to whatever capturing mechanic there is. So when the timer runs out, the team with the most points win. The maps with one base capture zone for each team automatically ends when one team fully captures the other teams zone. Just take it slow with some lower tier ships initially just to check out the new stuff before moving on to the higher tiers. If you're the kind of person who doesn't mind reading some stats, I'd also recommend taking a cursory glance at all the ships so you get a feel for what the new ships are all about and what the changes to the old ones are. -
If you want to enjoy WG products you have to eventually stop comparing your position to other regions, games etc. Ask yourself: "Is this worth it to me?" Do you enjoy playing and will the additional purchase enhance that enjoyment for you enough that it is worth the price asked? If it's a premium ship, premium time or XP/credit boosting signals, then you should also consider if the less enjoyable play time it will save you is worth the monetary price. Do you have a job but little free time? Then you might be willing to invest some money to make your play time more efficient. Do you spend a lot of time playing the game? Then further enriching that experience might be worth it, over shorter but similarly priced experiences. In the end the only thing that should matter to you is how you value your time with the game in relation to other entertainment options available to you.

More realistic, as in more likely to happen, would be the ability to have more than one of each ship. It's a win-win as it would require a large one-time investment as well as another port slot (making WG happy), but it would stop there and not continue to cost you any doubloons or credits in the future. You'd also be able to do the daily win on both.

The duration of the offer hasn't changed. Was and still is 3 days total. Ends roughly 23 hours from now.

Add one more day to that and you're correct. Offer ends at 07:00 CEST (GMT+2) on the 29th.

Pay to Lose, Money is killing the game, ask the premium ships
Nechrom replied to Jalador's topic in General Discussion
Except TF2 didn't launch as F2P and was B2P for the longest time. It also doesn't have developer run servers for even a fraction of its playerbase. -
It's a monster. Same effective RoF as the St Louis, faster speed, better fire chance, longer range and 130mm guns for captain skill compatibility. This was a 5v5 battle, so I basically soloed the entire enemy team:

Unless you're RIOT with billions of players you don't make profit selling just cosmetics. Do you have any specific examples of "real" F2P games pulling that off? -

I call it the Slöwe. Works great in Swedish. (slö = blunt/dull, slack, slow, sluggish) -

We wouldn't have such a large portion of new players at tier 8 if the old players stopped clogging up the lower tiers. -
I was expecting the lower profile ships like the MK, Blys and Pan-Asia DDs to have these "no frills" bundles which we got. But I honestly thought that they would have the Tirpitz in the shop at least one more time in just a big bundle before eventually arriving as a standalone ship. Seeing as the deal is only for 3 days, it's going to be fun reading the threads later next week with players raging because they were away over the weekend or didn't check the site/forums/mail. They will be literally ripping their [edited] off.

Dasha Perova as RU captain (random thought)

I want Ectar as my Warspite captain. -
In your case it's just a matter of bad luck. It will even out eventually. Some time in the future you might have a huge win streak. From your stats it seems like you have good base skill. If you continue, that can only get better and will over time lead to a nice win rating. If you want to check your stats in a slightly more productive way I can recommend warships.today.

My most played ship, all categories. Can heartily recommend, especially at this price (I paid a lot more).
