I'm really close to writing this day off. So many battles with full health BBs alive when the enemy wins by points. They will literally skirt by an uncontested enemy cap without making any attempt to go in. I don't understand how these people survive in the real world. They must have forgotten to breathe several times by now.

Out of those the only one I legitimately enjoy nowadays is the Kutuzov. The crazy range coupled with good turret traverse and amazing shell velocity enables you to make yourself a very hard target and at the same time still being able to continue dealing damage. Being able to crapon CVs is also a huge bonus. In contrast you have the Ibuki with horrendous turret traverse, merely okay range and no AA to speak of. The only advantage it has is its stealth, but that only increases your survival rate. If you want to utilize it you can't do anything useful, just move around. So either you make sure you have a 15 skill point captain and do a stealth fire build. Or you sneak around and only fire when you're not going to get return fire. Both requiring that there are no planes nearby.

It's probably DPS modified by the coverage area (surface area of the circle). Which is why the value of AA guns increases exponentially with higher range. Also illustrated by how much the AA score increases if you get a captain with Advanced Firing Training and the AA Guns Modification 2 upgrade (+20% AA range each). Together they double the effective coverage area of your AA without altering the damage of the guns.

Depends very much on your playstyle. Personally, coming from playing the Sims and getting my hands on a very similar ship (Lo Yang) but with both better visibility and range (even on the low range torps), I can easily get those to work. They do quite a lot more damage and are much faster, which is very important for me. Not to mention if you launch at far targets on the off chance that you might hit, you might not have any torpedoes when you really need them. If I want to do stealth torpedoing I'll take the Fubuki out and have 3x3 torpedoes with twice the damage each and much higher speed. For me the Lo Yang is, in order of priority: Anti-DD Ambush/charge torpedoer AA-support Smoke HE spammer Stealth torpedoer (with the slow and weak long range torps)

If you're having these problems in BBs then it's definitely L2P, but I'm suspecting you're referring to cruisers. Playing cruisers in high tiers is at best boring, but for the most part it's almost unplayable if you want to get anything meaningful out of it.

IJN premiums? As in the Atago? As in the tier 8 CA with the same AA performance as DDs?

Getting detected by radar at tier 4 game ?

It's the same icon when getting detected by hydro. -

We'll agree to disagree then, because I see no reason to doubt that there will be a 5th week of missions. Occam's Razor and all that. Going by your logic you might as well demand official confirmation that the servers won't get shut down next month. -
So the Ibuki and Zao got even worse AA. Clearly they were too powerful.

So taking your disposition into account, do you feel that this is a reasonable request? -

The question is why do you doubt that there will be a 5th week of missions? There are a lot of things we don't have official confirmation on but still take for granted. Why is this different? Really not that hard finding the info: -

I think the 1000 XP limit is pretty much absolute unless you get more from sources that aren't the missions. So I'm going to guess that the last two weeks will only have 3 missions each. Both because it will reach 1000 XP that way, but also the implication that if they continue the same trend, then we'll have to get 30 kills in tier 8 and 9 ships as well as getting 3250 and 3500 XP in a single battle. I think we're more likely to not have both those types of missions for the last two weeks. -

A 5th separate set. -

A 5th week for the four weekly missions. Only a 4th week for the 100k XP mission. -
Depends. If the cruiser has decent AA you might want 20% more range.

Demo is IJN cruisers bread and butter.

Front bow of ship should be capable of ramming without too much damage to self ?
Nechrom replied to SkybuckFlying's topic in General Discussion
Might be interesting from a gameplay perspective, but it sure isn't realistic. The bow is generally a weaker part of the ship. -

Only Katori so far. Will get Smith next and then end with the Tachibana. The last 50 diamonds I don't have any plans for yet, maybe some signals. -
The entire citadel is under water and the top of it has 50 mm of armor, so that's not an issue.

I'm on 272 battles right now, so still on schedule. All the kill missions done. -
Aircraft carriers are terribly designed
Nechrom replied to SirLloydHigginsBoomBoom's topic in Aircraft Carriers
1. Agreed. One of the big reasons why I play WoWS now and not WoT is because it's not a numbers game with a massive power increase going up tiers coupled with a 3 tier spread MM. But as you pointed out, the exception to that rule is CVs, where simply being one tier higher is a massive effective buff to your chances of success. 2. Well basically every weapon in WoWS is an RNG fest to some degree. Either because it's literally random or because (in the case of DD torpedoes) you have no way to predict what someone will do 20 seconds into the future. Dive bombers, with the exception of maybe the monster squad on the Saipan, are more of a support weapon. Forcing ships to use repairs, or comboing with another squad to maybe get a long burning fire going or even flooding. 3. You're using manual drop I hope? That allows for complete control over drop location and angle. 4. This is also true, which creates a pretty big issue at lower tiers where newer players reside and there is very little AA. Two stacked TB squads will one-shot a cruiser from full health every time they fly out if there are no fighters around. WG have been trying to get CVs in a good spot for a long time now and they have yet to do much objectively good to the class. It's inherently difficult because you're always going to have the situation where a good CV captain can do anything to a ship with bad AA, regardless of the skill of the enemy captain. On the flip side, they can't do much to ships with good AA even if the enemy captain is a bad player. Regular ship versus regular ship engagements factors in both players skill level. Regular ship versus CV doesn't. -
The problem with the Standard game mode is that there is no incentive to push. You're not going to be able to gain anything from it because the game mode is won by completely capping the enemy base, sinking all enemy ships or have sunk the most ships when the timer runs out. You're not going to cap the enemy base early and simply trying gives you literally nothing. The team on defense has the upper hand always because most maps are designed so that the area between both teams are filled with obstacles that spread out a team moving through them. A spread out team among islands will get singled out by a grouped up team that can collectively focus on ships as they close within range. This wouldn't be much of a problem if it was team battles, but now it's random battles where players for the most part do their own thing. And what decides what randoms fire at will almost always be the closest available target, and for a grouped up team that tends to be the same target for everyone. Grouping up in Domination at least has a trade-off of not being able to cover all the caps. Don't even get me started on how much of a DDs average rewards are based on capping. Want to get a good daily with your DD? Screw you, this is a Standard battle, better luck tomorrow!

I only use HE with BBs against other BBs when I'm horribly undertiered or when I'm up against angled US BBs at long range. The only exception to that rule is early IJN BBs (Mikasa, Kawachi and Ishizuchi) which have abysmal AP shells but good HE shells.

I personally welcome a bit of information overload. WoWS has comparatively little to keep track of and I don't think that some extra minimap info is too much. For most situations I feel that more than just the max AA range might be useless information. It's not like you can chase planes in your ship anyway, so I'm mostly interested in knowing if they will be effected by my defensive fire debuff or not. All the other range indicators feel pretty useful though. Despite what some in this thread feel, I've wished for permanent gun and torpedo range indicators. Even with IJN DDs I like to cruise around with guns ready, and if I can keep track of my torpedo range at the same time, I can keep guns trained until the moment I want to actually launch my torpedoes. For cruisers I think it'll also help to remind me that I should use my torpedoes more.
