You're a perfect example for something I was saying back in CBT; That there never will be enough nerfs done to CVs, to stop people posting biased stupid nonsense filled with twisted logic and willful ignorance with a huge sprinkling of irrelevancies in a desperate bid to keep a meme going.

Also, ship class vs ship class balance would get messed up (even more). Some ships are balanced around having to make some captain skill choices. Allowing a yamato to get every survivability skill, every AAA skill and top that off with manual secondaries++ would be absurd vs a CV or DD who get little to no benefit from even more skillpoints (CVs literally have no more skills that would impact their performance in most scenarios against anything but other CVs attacking them, while DDs could get some situational skills that mostly benefits gunboat DDs). -

So you think WG wants YOU in particular to have bad teams and sets up the game so YOU get worse teams? Or do you think they've hired people to play badly in games so everyone somehow gets the bad teams? I really wonder in which particular way you're entirely deluded. -
BB citadels does far more damage to BBs (or anything else) than torpedoes, on shorter reload, longer range, and far less time for the target to avoid. And this shows itself in the type of damage that ships receive, with AP ammo far outstripping torpedoes. Also BBs are played more in higher tiers than DDs too. So clearly, if the OP's logic holds true (and this is not really my opinion, just so that's clear), we need to nerf BBs and cap them to 2 per team max.

It wasn't more skill demanding, it just took more skill... or in your word "Back then it took real skill". Also, again, you're claiming that changes done to fighters are due to this ability having been added, which is just not true, and just something you either just make up, or that you just don't have any idea about as you didn't play though the patches where these changes were introduced. Nor does that ability take away anything from AAA specced CAs (though the other nerfs to CVs make the opportunity cost of going full AAA specc far worse). And guess what, it still takes skill to outplay a CV with better and/or more fighters. -

Why are you arguing against yourself? FIrst it's bad that barrage allows a skilled player to dominate a worse one, and now you claim that it was more skill based before, in which case a skilled player would dominate a newbie even more. Sorry, but you can't both claim that it's bad that a better players dominates a worse player, and also claim that the prior version you prefer is more skill based and thus better for the game. Realisticly though, you're just living in the past, and want the skills you learned then to still be the best way to play. No, it didn't take more skill to outplay a ranger with an indy (something you could only do if that ranger player played very poorly) or to play even with a ranger in a Hiryuu. What actually was the case was that a higher tier CV would pretty much always dominate a lower tier one, and depending on loadouts, a ranger would just click a Hiryuu's planes away (but as this was before the penalty to ready a new squad if a full squad was lost was introduced, that Hiryuu would then have a full strike going on while the ranger reloaded). -

You're picking one over another to throw the "logic" and "realistic" argument on, so yes you're cherry picking. Also, if using strafe is punishing newbies, how is using friendly ships not also punishing newbies? It's just another case of cherry picking. You think your "trick" is perfectly ok, but actually using an ability that everyone has, and that doesn't rely on a friendly ship being close is bad? Really? Also, strafing as an ability had nothing to do with the changes to the planes, as the Midways planes got nerfed because they far outperformed any other (in fact, in many tiers you now have better fighters to unlock than before). Nor did the midway lose it's jet planes in the same patch as barrage was introduced. -

Again, cherry picking one feature over another. You know what defies logic? AAA hitting planes just flying over a ship at max altitude, planes being more visible than ships, CVs only sending a small part of their force into attacks, planes being way too slow compared to ships (or their real life counterparts, some so slow that they would struggle to stay airborne). Also, yes, they kill many planes quickly, as that's the entire point. By that "logic" they should just remove defensive fire too (an ability just as illogical and as likely to screw over a newbie in a saipan). You know what would be stupid? Fighting against 3 squads of superior fighters and not even being able to outplay him with skill. Also, there's been no "nerf" to fighters to accommodate this skill. Lastly, while the rear gunner skill is, and always was, pretty useless. It's still just as good if you're able to watch your planes and avoid strafes. And I know that I certainly still use regular point-n-click attacks. As for seal clubbing. How is that different from tirpitzes and atagos blindly sailing into torpedoes, air attacks or citadel hits? Should we remove HE from tirpitzes so their newbie players won't accidentally fall into the skill trap of using that over AP? Make their ships immune to fire or torpedoes? Remove citadels from their ships altogether? And while a screwup on the part of a newbie in a saipan might hurt him, a screwup in any other high tier premium is likely to send you back to port. Where do you place the line on where skill beats ship stats? And really, you want the game to change to accommodate people buying themselves into tiers they have no experience to play in yet? -

Firstly. Strafing runs were a COMMON TACTIC used against formations during WWII. And while you can say that this interpretation of that is pretty far from reality, it's NO MORE UNREALISTIC than what you already see. You're just cherry picking the things you don't want, using "realism" as an excuse when you can't find a gameplay reason. -

It's not a balance thing, as every CV can do it. It's a an ability that requires you to have more skill and to be more attentive. Also, anyone using "BUT OMG REALISM!!" just uses that because they lack any real argument, and pretty much always ignore anything realistic that's far more important in actual real life. -

So what you're saying is, that you don't like that there's a skillfloor on playing fighters vs. fighters because you just want to click and don't otherwise pay attention, and that you're unable to use barrage to effectively defend your fleet, nor do you have the ability to tell your planes to avoid it. -
Hilarious. Not only are you playing derpingly poorly. And for this account, worse in comparison to the guy you attempted to trash talk for any comparable ships. You also admit to breaking the games rules as a "defense". And then you're such an amazing hypocrite that not only do you call others toxic when the only actual toxicity and abuse here comes from you, you also question others reading abilities while writing at a 4th grade level.

I'm sure simple 3rd grade maths is beyond you. But CVs are only his 2nd most played class, and he's got more games played in either of the classes of ships, than you do total. So what does that make him? And the ships where you directly can compare you two, he's playing a lot better than you too.... All it makes you is someone who's desperate to find abuse to throw at people because you have nothing objective to say at all.

In the way it appears there, it's a percentage point increase. Which means that the relative value actually increases the better protected you already are. For a Yamato is actually reduces torp damage taken by slightly more than 6% compared to not having that upgrade. -
