    WGs concept seems to be that at least the first strike of each squadron should get through all but the most concentrated AA, the differences in ship AA effectiveness being how many more strikes the CV gets with that same squadron against that target, which is why the new concentrated AA change targets the last plane first, the first strike is the last one to be affected. But if AA efficiency right now is good enough that most squadrons cant even get the first strike off then it's no surprise that WG have announced a potential hotfix. The game is not balanced when CVs rule and can turn every game in the right hands, but it's also not balanced when theyre rendered impotent. That said, I've played very little regular battles since the change, mostly the new mode, so how substantialky the environment has changed I don't personally know. AA guns with varied reload times was more authentic and flavourful than the standardisation which will make every AA gun, regardless of calibre, fire every 0.29seconds. We'll still see discrepancies in damage values, the 6 bofors on Omaha doing 140 dps vs the 48 bofors on seattle that only do 423 (3x the damage despite having 8x the guns) but the time between damage pulses will be standardised so that you don't have guns with 3.5s reload times that planes can fly through in 2 seconds, never triggering a shot. An improvement, and in my opinion well worth the loss of authenticity, I'm sure from a visual perspective everything will look and feel as you'd expected, but your AA is guaranteed to at least do the damage you expect every time.

    Previous AA damage was balanced around a mechanic that caused some pulses of damage to not occur. Due to the intermittent nature of the way damage was dealt the average was lower than what you might expect on paper. Now that the damage is more consistent, the average amount of damage being dealt is higher. This was entirely predictable, and if they didn't want to see average damage increase they should have reduced AA DPS values when they implemented the change. EDIT: turns out im still thinking of the 0.8.6 change to standardise AA reload times. People who expect to just be perpetually immune to aircraft are always going to find themselves disappointed later.

You spawned on the wrong side of the map. You won that close quarters encounter but I was salty about it anyway. You overmatched my bow which is HACKING. You're in a CV on the enemy team. You're in a CV on my own team but that means you're part of the problem. You shot at me over an island and you weren't spotted so I couldn't shoot back. You didn't follow me when I suicided into the enemy so my death is your fault. Your username offends me. I had bad fire RNG when shooting at you. You radared me which is HACKING. You killed me in an underpowered ship so obviously you're a lucksack. You killed me in an overpowered ship so obviously you've got no personal skill. You honked your horn at me, which is unacceptable no matter the circumstance. You detonated me so F you. You're in a division which is basically HACKING. I've got to use my daily reports on someone.

    The announcement image tends to indicate the premium/standard status. Although Thunderer has been presented as both standard and premium so that has raised some confusion. For Somers however, it appears most certainly premium.

    So that 10,000 people can just whine "why are you wasting time on this instead of fixing bugs, fixing CVs, add new ships, add new maps, add new games modes".

    What does this have to do with anything? You can moan all you want about people spamming HE or whatever but these SAP shells look like they are most likely going to be used as the gimmick for a new nation or shipline and will most likely replace HE shells for those ships. There would be no reason to label them as "SAP" shells if they were trying to make a more systemic change.

    So it follows the rules for HE penetration, a flat penetration amount that doesn't change over distance, with no overmatching but the possibility for shells to ricochet? Less damage than AP shells and against any ship that doesnt have an exposed citadel surface wont be able to cause citadel damage either as the shells wont travel internally, however this also means they wont overpenetrate. They will also not start fires nor cause damage to modules unless they hit directly, but will cause more damage than regular HE shells. If the available shells were SAP + HE I can't imagine why I would want to use it instead of HE, I doubt the raw damage would outweigh the lost damage dealt by fires, especially when they have the potential to ricochet, and I cant see much potential from the increased penetration unless the penetration is either 50mm+ which only makes it consistent HE, or 400mm+ which enables it to penetrate thick belts. If the combination is AP + SAP however, when changing ammo you lose any potential overmatching, you lose citadel potential and you lose some damage on penetrations, but you remove the possibility of overpenetrations and retain consistent penetration at all ranges at the cost of not being able to start fires or knock out a swathe of modules (not unlike RN CLs). A disadvantage if you face a target you cannot overmatch who is angled against you if you cannot switch to an ammo type that cannot ricochet. An interesting shell, seems mostly beneficial to BBs but potentially to cruisers as well.

    Don't forget dreadnought also has an incredibly fast rudder shift time of 11.6 seconds compared to bellerophons excrutiating 11.7s rudder shift.

    DPM on BBs is a lot less relevant than on some other ships, reload time may define who gets to fire their 2nd shot first when two BBs encounter each other in close quarters around a corner but the potential alpha of an opportunity shot is more crucial than the DPM, it is well worth holding a shot for 5 seconds if it means your target turns from 25° facing you to flat broadside. The actual damage you cause with patience and the right opportunity beats how much you can deal trying to just fire the guns as often as possible. Removing the super heal may serve to fit Thunderer into a role similar to what WG aims to achieve with Slava, who also has impaired sustainability.

    The early access model for new ship lines is getting a bit dull as someone who already owns all tier 10s; getting shortcut to tier 8 every new line. I'm not going to turn down the chance to get new ships as soon as others but I'd like to experience the grind.

    AA guns arent invincible though which is why its good to strike targets who have been focused by some allies first and potentially lost some AA strength.

    The penalty also applies to people who queue for a battle and decide to quit to port at the beginning because they dont like the matchmaking or whatever. It is not an issue for anyone who doesn't make a frequent habit of it.

    Tier 3 HMS Dreadnought

    Dreadnought is extremely similar to Bellerophon but it is difficult to say Dreadnought is better, with less hp, less AA (not that Bel has much to speak of), less speed and less main gun range. Her advantages are only that she has better turning and reduced concealment, slightly thicker belt armor and a permanent camo. However, nothing would justify a BB able to bring 8 guns to bear on a target being a tier 2, the standard set by the existing t2 BB Mikasa should make that apparent.

    It would certainly be more interesting to see these additional RN destroyers appear with a new flavour as a commonwealth standard line, though they could equally appear as an alternative line as part of the RN tree.

    Georgia/Ohio topkek thread

    Georgia seemed decent enough to me, damage isnt incredible but its pretty consistent. Not secondary spec but even just artillery plotting room 1 and secondary flag is enough to get the secondaries out to 8.3km and theyve got good rate of fire and accuracy, I'm pretty sure a full secondary spec would work fine. It's a lot of fun getting around a flank at 40knts though, shame the alpha is so lacking.
