    ST 0.9.8, World of Warships birthday, dockyard Please note that all information in the development blog is preliminary and subject to change during testing. Any showcased features may or may not end up on the main server. The final information will be published on our game's website. Update 0.9.8 kicks off an event dedicated to the 5-year anniversary of World of Warships! One of the main features of the update is the new temporary battle type with an uneven distribution of ships per team - Asymmetric battle. One team will consist of a small number of Tier VII-VIII ships, and another one will consist of a greater number of Tier V-VI ships. You'll be able to freely enter battles on Tier V-VI ships, but to participate in the Asymmetric Battle on a Tier VII-VIII ship you'll need a new temporary resource - battle tokens - which are received by playing this battle type. A new permanent campaign "Five ages of navy" and a collection of the same name await players. Elements of the collection can be obtained only from the "Five ages of navy" containers. These containers are obtained by completing tasks and missions of the campaign. The rewards for completing the campaign and collection will be permanent "Epochal" camouflages, which can be mounted on Tier IX ships. In honor of the occasion, the "Designer's Table" port was updated The "Anniversary" memorable flag and the "For Meritorious Service" patch were added in the game. The ways of obtaining these items will be announced later. Dockyard In Update 0.9.8 players will be able to build the new American Tier VIII cruiser Anchorage. The shipbuilding rules are similar to the Hamburg Dockyard rules, but with the list of rewards changed. For example, you'll be able to receive 100,000 Free XP for completing the 12th phase. The event will span two updates - 0.9.8 and 0.9.9 The construction process of the Dockyard is comprised of 20 phases. Each shipbuilding phase can be completed by finishing Directives or spending 1,750 doubloons per phase. In total, you can complete 18 out of 20 shipbuilding phases by finishing Directives without using doubloons. Anchorage in the "National" camouflage, a commander with 10 skill points, a Port slot and a memorable flag await you upon completing the 20th phase If you decide to complete shipbuilding at the Dockyard by using doubloons, you can still progress through the Directives. However, in that case, instead of the usual rewards for completing the shipbuilding phases, you'll get 600 Research Points for each completed phase. If you had no access to the Research Bureau, you'll get it upon receiving Research Points. Bonus for victory In 0.9.8, players will be able to receive a festive bonus for their first victory of the update on all ships starting from Tier V. Depending on the ship's Tier and type, you can get "World of Warships Anniversary" camouflages, Gift containers, and supercontainers.     Considering how many supertesters I know that are not actively helping with the program right now maybe you should go through existing supertesters and remove some of them. It is certainly depressing to be declined for the fourth time in a row knowing these people exist.

    No, the ballistics of the guns when firing at 19.4km, with or without the range mod, is exactly the same. As the range gets further the travel time and angle of impact continue to increase though at a slower rate than the original range.

    It helps to have flatter ballistics, even if the dispersion ellipse is the same size.

    Actually, you are probably correct. Although I have been told by devs that the vertical and horizontal dispersion values are not strictly linked together there are no real exceptions to this rule that I'm aware of. However, almost all data regarding vertical dispersion is based only on practical testing and a vertical dispersion modifier with no publicly known purpose.

    Same, superior russian vertical dispersion as Soyuz, better sigma than Soyuz 1.7 (Rossiya gets 1.8) and horizontal dispersion that grows like US/RN/KM BBs. This makes the horizontal worse than Soyuz up to about 14km but better than 15km onwards (so from 15km to the max 19.4km). In addition, Rossiya has the stock HP of Soyuz and the stock AA of Soyuz as well as worse turret traverse. Whether the ability to reach out to 19.4km with the powerful russian ballistics backed up by more consistent sigma and improved long range dispersion justifies the drawbacks is hard to tell. Rossiya can also mount GFCS2 in slot 6 for an extra 16% range if you want that for some reason.

    Disappointing bundles that are not that good value. Inability to buy new commanders individually. Inability to buy old commanders or permacamos individually. The permacamos are not worth the asking price. The selection of new commanders is less interesting and doesn't include a single destroyer. Littorio is a copy paste of Roma, no differences at all Rossiya as a tier 9 is very expensive. No accompanying collection or event or mission that is new, just recycled content from last year. The associated "official" stream yesterday that revealed the content was so bad I could not bear to watch it for more than 5 minutes, the absolute lack of organisation and information really made it feel like the minimum effort possible was invested into the stream. AL Premium containers are not worth the price and seem to exist either so that those who cannot afford bundles can buy something random, at very poor value, or to milk money out of the people dumb enough to buy them in bulk. This is easily the worst and greediest version of this collab so far ingame that reeks of low effort for max profit.

    I realise this is similar to clearing cookies but can you try it with a private browser session? (Ctrl + Shift + P for Firefox, Ctrl + Shift + N for Chrome) If that works, try deleting your browser cache and cookies again.

    Buffs for GZ should come in a form that is not specifically designed to keep on trashing DDs in the same way that almost all CVs can trash them. This is one of the changes being made to try and improve situations where CVs can take a DD out of the game in the first 2 mins. GZ does need buffs, imo, especially for the DBs, but fixing universal problems with CVs where CVs overperform is always going to negatively affect GZ and it is better that the changes are made to CVs overall so that WG can see just how much GZ is underperforming and give her appropriate buffs. Not just buff her to compensate for this change and then nerf her with something else.

    There is no more attack surface if you attack from the side, you maximise attack surface by aligning the target in the reticle regardless of angle. However, by forcing aircraft to attack from the side you grant DDs a 90° angle of escape on each attack, you increase the relative velocity between the attacking aircraft and the target which reduces the time in which the attack can correct their aim and attack and by standardising the angle of attack all DDs know to treat rocket fighters in the same way to mitigate and avoid damage.

    You still only activate you AA if it would actually shoot anything down. If it cant shoot anything down anyway then you dont turn it on. If you can shoot them down you turn your AA on, shoot them down and then you get unspotted because the planes are gone despite the 20s of aerial concealment caused. The mistake to be made is turning your AA on when you can infact not shoot down the aircraft in question. Not every change can be tailored to the players that don't fully understand the game, the problem this addresses is one that was prevelant in the latest ranked season. Abusive mechanics that trivialise aspects of the game need to be rectified. You cant see how reducing the aerial concealment of DDs with hopeless AA from 2-3km to 1-1.5km could possibly be helpful? I see you haven't played a single game in CVs since the rework so it's not really mind blowing that you do not understand.

    Oh I've just realised the rockets used in the screenshot are Shokakus stock rockets, not the top rockets. The dispersion for the rockets looks more or less the same to me, just rotated, although its hard to exactly recreate the screenshot. So I'm assuming the top rockets are also just rotated.

    Hmm, it's hard to say whether that is "turned 90 degrees and elongated horizontally" as if theyve changed the shape, or just an unclear way of saying "turned 90 degrees so now the reticle is longer horizontally". @Tanatoy will any of the reticles dimensions change or are they just being turned to become horizontal ellipses?

    So don't turn it off then. Or if your AA can't shoot them down, don't turn it on. For about 3 ships it basically was. A ship like Halland could turn off its AA until enemy aircraft came within 2.7km (planes that are often hunting the Halland but not sure enough on where it is to be making an attack run), press a button to turn on AA (too close for the aircraft to make an attack run), shoot down some planes while they are too close to attack, keep shooting as they fly away and when they get far enough away that they can turn back to make an attack just turn AA back off. Instantly, the Halland would "cloak" and disappear and the next attack run made against it would be blind from the CVs perspective but the Halland could maneuver while able to see the planes but being invisible itself. Hopefully, by the time the planes get back within 2.7km you are far enough away from where they are aiming that it is not possible for them to correct their attack and again you can just turn your AA back on and safely shoot down some more. Now, the Halland can still ambush the rockets (more easily infact because its aerial detection range is halved to 1.35km) but now if it turns its AA off it can still be spotted when the aircraft re-enter its AA range so the follow up attack can actually be made.

    The dimensions of the reticle havent changed, as stated the reticles have simply turned 90 degrees. And it can't be considered a buff when a horizontal ellipse demands a more difficult attack on the target from the side rather than the trivial attack from behind that vertical ellipses allow. It's not a massive difference but it is certainly not a buff. (And they've blurred it because the UI elements are in Russian and some people cry about that stuff)

    ALABAMA SECONDARIES..

    Both Alabama and Massachusets are South Dakota class BBs but Massa is the one with effective secondaries and Bama has a more effective main battery. Bamas main guns are more accurate and have more range. (1.9 sigma vs 1.7 sigma, 21.1km range vs 18.27km range) Massas secondary guns are more accurate and have more range and reload faster. (7.5km range vs 5.0km range, 4.0s reload vs 6.0s reload, improved dispersion beyond normal secondaries) In addition to these differences; Bama has slightly better concealment, rudder shift time and slightly better AA. Massa has slightly faster turning turrets and her repair party has a much shorter cooldown. Of the two, Massa can be configured with a focus on her secondaries and Alabama should be played like a conventional BB.
