    Your research only shows the ships which are easily obtainable from the Internet. I would not call Salamis a battlecruiser with her 43km/h only speed. Even the first BC the Invincible class could go as fast as 47km/h. Around the time of WW I, Japan conluded design studies of various warships apart from the usual sequence of design numbers like the A-46 through 57, A-110 through A-127 series of battleships and the similar battlecruiser series, there were also studies to what nowadays would call Super or Maximum battleships. These studies did not got numbers but rather alphabetical letters, from A through M. These studies are highly likely inspired or used as a basis for the Number 13 class (Hull number 13,14,15,16) class fast battleships or battlecruisers in the 1920's I've collected here the studies I've able to collect, and if data or drawing available post it. The Superstructure and the deck structures were different in this early phase of development but the tall pagoda style superstructure was evident which was later redesigned. This ship would had been a fast vessel with 57km/h (31knots) top speed, good range and excellent stability! Design choices can be seen here: to protect the AA guns both heavy and light as well as the the aircrafts, the main guns and secondary guns concentrated on the ends of the hull putting their blast effects far from these sensitive equipment. The aircrafts were stored in a protected hanger under the deck and behind the 155mm turrets with a ramp serving as an access to the catapults. The Light AA guns mounted high on the superstructure to provide clear arcs of fire as well as distance from the main guns blasts. Similar was the decision to put the boat storage under the hull but still outside of it at the aft parts and both sides of the main deck similarly on what was chosen for the Yamato, only difference is the size, as this was a larger ship the boat storage was much longer. While this was the very first design leading to the Yamato class, it was the only one to feature the 50 calibre 46cm cannons. After evaluating the design it was found (among other things) that the Arms industry of Japan could not produce such long barrelled guns hence the change to the 45 calibre one on the later designs. Other critical points were the large size both hull length and displacement wise as there were no docks capable holding the vessel for outfit, refit or repair works. I've choose fully enclosed 127mm gun turrets as to not protect them from blast effect (Though at extreme aft firing the 3rd turret's gun might effect them! ) but to protect them from light bombs and strafing fire of enemy aircraft. Angled funnel of the Yamato because all the boilers were located under the tower like pagoda superstructure with the turbines behind them. Shorter hull and reduced speed of a knot, but rather a turbine only propulsion, a mixed steam and diesel (COSAD if you like) was chosen which increased the range of the ship considerably by more than 2.000km or 1.200nm. On variant A1 the 3 triple turrets were distributed in a classical way of two forward, one aft and secondary turrets adjusted accordingly to provide the broadside of at least 3 turrets. AA layout was changed resulting in a broadside of 6 turrets out of 8 which is superior to the previous 4 out of 8 layout. While the firepower was reduced by a single barrel this layout allowed for a better firing pattern of the main guns making ranging shots much better than with 3 triple turrets. These designs were 30m shorter than the A variants but maintain the same armour, armament and general layout though the lack of a large funnel meant a considerable space could be allocated on the centreline thus the concentrated heavy AA weaponry there. Except for the Design A-140 as I did not found a sketch for it as well only for A-140A. Now about the actual design. Version C is literally a copy of the plain B variant but with a reduced engine output and thus a slower speed. A true slow battleship though the saved weight was only 2.000tons due to the smaller engines installed. I've slightly changed the AA layout to look different and not as the same as the B version. Being as the same size as the B version with the same armament and engine power but 5000tons lighter and one knot faster meant a more efficient hull form must had been chosen by the designer hence I too choose a hull more similar to the Final Yamato design (A-140F6) than of those of the previous ones proposals. The same way I chose a different layout for the secondary and AA guns as well. Unlike to the previous versions on this design 41cm cannons were chosen as main armament rather 46cm/50 ones, and armour was reduced accordingly.   9. As the 1930 1st London Naval Treaty discussions are about the begin, Japan started designing new warships to replace it's old ships according to the 1922 Washington Naval Treaty articles. Two class were considered to be replaced: Fuso and Kongo each with 2-2 new ships. The ships would have good speed and well armed with new 41cm cannons with a displacement around 30-35.000tons. The overall look would be similar to the Yamato and her preliminaries. Yuzuru Hiraga made a proposals for the Kongo replacement while Kikou Fujimoto for the Fuso replacement. In this thread I post the Kongo replacement design. To made up for the tonnage the WNT allowed, Hiraga proposed multiple variants of weapon layouts and displacements for the IJN: - 35.000ton variants: a.: 3x3 41cm, Speed: 48km/h (26knots) b.: 2x4,1x2 41cm, Speed: 48km/h (26knots) c.: 3x4 41cm, Speed: 43km/h (23knots) - 30.000ton variants: a.: 2x4 41cm, Speed: 46km/h (25knots) b.: 2x3 41cm, Speed: 48km/h (26knots) c.: 3x2 41cm, Speed: 48km/h (26knots) d.: 2x4,1x2 36cm, Speed: 46km/h (25knots) e.: 3x3 36cm, Speed: 48km/h (26knots) - 25.000ton variants: a.: 2x2 41cm, Speed: 46km/h (25knots) b.: 3x3 36cm, Speed: 46km/h (25knots) c.: 4x2 36cm, Speed: 48km/h (26knots) - 20.000ton variants: a.: 2x3 36cm, Speed: 48km/h (26knots) b.: 3x3 30cm, Speed: 46km/h (25knots) Secondary armaments to be consisted of 152mm guns and AA armament of 120mm ones. The AA guns on the superstructure later appeared in some phases on the Yamato preliminaries. The final design however evolved from the 35.000ton B variant but instead of quad turrets it used triple to save weight and used 4 turrets instead of 3. The ship is very compact to further decrease the displacement and armour area. Note the use of both turreted and casemated secondary guns to save weight. On the other hand Fujimoto's proposal was much less compact lack casemate guns and had a more general look on the superstructure shape. The tonnage limit for light cruisers too were very close to the set limit but by scrapping 4 pre-WW1 era protected crusiers of the Tone and Chikuma classes (3 ships), and replacement of the Tenryu class (2 ships) and the Kuma class (5 ships) by 1934 and 1937 allowed Japan to build 6 new light cruisers which then became the Mogami and Tone classes. Originally the Mogami class would displace only 8500tons standard but the requirements of the navy was so similar that of the 10.000ton Takaos that standard displacement risen to 9500tons and different weight saving measures had to be taken to reach this goal and thus Design C-37 was born.As the drawing illustrates the Mogami class as born was quite different from the ones actually finished. A bridge very similar to the Takao was adopted despite it's large mass resulting top heavy problems, large surface area for enemy fire and wind resistance counterweighted the positive points of centralised placements of fire-control, communications and navigational stations, the quadrupedal foremast was also taken from the Takao class. By reducing the boilers from 12 to 10 a single funnel could be adopted as well. A protected hanger was provided for the seaplanes which was almost identical to that of use on the Takaos. Main armament was chosen to be 15x 155mm guns in 5 triple turrets from the very beginning and because they are designed to provide AA fire, the secondary armament was chosen to be only 4 single guns but of new type (12,7cm Type 89). Torpedo armament and placement too was very similarly arranged that of the Takaos. Second variant: This is how Mogami and Mikuma was commissioned. After the Tomozoru incident of 14th of March, 1934 plans were created to fix the stability issues of the Mogami class (among other ships of the fleet as well). These plans (unofficially known as the first efficiency or stability improvement works) were completed in June of that year but the first two units were already launched while he other two just laid down. The plan included the strengthening of the transverse bulkheads, replacing the large Takao style bridge with a much smaller one cutting it's weight by 2/3rds, removal of the seaplane hanger and rework of the aft superstructure, reducing their weight by half. Various deck height reductions were included, as well as moving the torpedo tubes further aft, increase the AA guns to 4 twin from 4 single mounts, and reducing the number of boilers from 10 to 8 in the last two units: IJN Suzuya and IJN Kumano.Third variant: In 1937, following the denunciation of the 2nd London Naval Treaty of 1936 in the IJN decided to construct new ships and continue to modernize or refit the existing units, including the battlecruiser Hiei and light cruisers of the Mogami and Tone classes. While the barbette diameter of the Tone class was changed during construction there were no problems for them to fit the 20cm twin gun turrets used on the other cruisers but Mogamis was already finished by this time so construction new turrets postponed their refit. This refit (unofficially known as the third efficiency improvement or main gun replacement works) included the change of the 15,5cm triple turret to the 20cm twin ones, replacing the older Type 90 torpedoes with the newer Type 93 ones also known as Long Lances, replacing the seaplane catapult with a heavier and stronger one as well as torpedo-firing command station on top of the mainmast.Fourth variant: After the battle of Midway in which Mikuma sunk and Mogami was heavily damaged only 3 operational Mogami class cruisers remained in service. Between late 1942 and early 1943, while Mogami was underwent repair and conversion into an aviation cruiser to increase the fleet's scouting capability, plans were drawn up to convert both Suzuya and Kumano into Anti-aircraft cruisers. The plans included the replacement of all the main 20cm twin turrets to twin 12,7cm DP-AA mounts as well as increase of light AA gun armament. Though original plans included to convert both of the two fully operational cruisers to Anti-aircraft ships, most likely to wartime shortage of 12,7cm guns as well as suitable dockyard capacity, Suzuya would only got her aft guns replaced by the mentioned AA weaponry while still able to provide the same firepower as the Furutaka and Aoba classes.Sidenote: I've taken the liberty to add more MG director towers knowing the ship's changed purpose to AA instead of surface combat.Fifth variant: While IJN Suzuya would only got half the AA gun replacement that was proposed, IJN Kumano could had received the full conversion creating a potent AA platform rivalling even that of the USN's Atlanta class Anti-aircraft light cruisers. Other changes likely would be included the replacement of the main gun rangefinder with High-angle one as well as more Machine-gun director towers for controlled AA fire.Sixth variant: After the battle of Midway Mogami was heavily damaged and between late 1942 and early 1943, she underwent repair and conversion into an aviation cruiser to increase the fleet's scouting capability. This time the entire aft section of the ship rebuilt removing the both turrets (one was heavily damaged) and their ammo storage rooms was modified to hold gasoline, bombs and other ammunition. The aircraft deck extended to the stern with a rail system to move the designed complement of 11 Aichi E16A Zuiun floatplanes though at first she carried a mix of Mitsubishi F1M Pete and Aichi E13A Jake floatplanes. Her light AA armament also increased with associated directors as well. After the conversion was finished her main role as frontline combatant changed to a more supportive role to provide reconnaissance and scouting for the fleet with the ability to launch all her planes in roughly half an hour.Seventh variant: Shortly after the battle of Midway at the end of June 1942 proposals were made to quickly replace the carrier losses of this devastating battle. As no new fleet aircraft carrier to be excepted operational at least until 1944, conversion plans were made for all the cruisers and battleships of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Soon the Furutakas and Aobas were ruled out as considered too small and the Yamatos were not just new but too important for conversion. The conversion of the battleships (4 Kongo, 2 Ise, Fuso and Nagato) would take 18 months and would result in vessels with around 210-220m x 34m flight deck and an aircraft capacity of roughly 54 planes. In the end the Kongos were ruled out because with their high speed they could escort the carriers, while the Nagato's 410mm cannons were still considered a powerful armament, this lead to the decision of the Fuso and Ise classes with Hyuga's aft turret damaged this made the decision straight: Ise, Hyuga followed by Fuso and Yamashiro.As for the cruisers (4 Myoko, 4 Takao, 3 Mogami and 2 Tone), the conversions would took around 8 months to finish and would result in light carriers with 195-200m x 23,5m flight deck and an aircraft capacity of roughly 30 planes.   19. This is the fourth and last part of my Royal Australian Navy Never Were designs with drawings. Here I post the modified Invincible design offered for the RAN Vickers Modified Invincible for Australia: https://www.deviantart.com/tzoli/art/Vickers-Modified-Invincible-for-Australia-777094768 Similar to Canada, Australia too modernised it's navy with American made equipment in the late 1960's and early 1970, replacing its de Havilland Sea Venom fighters with McDonnell Douglas A-4G Skyhawks and their Fairey Gannets with Grumman S-2G Trackers. During this time HMAS Sydney was not modernised, but provided an excellent platform as an LPH during the Vietnam War, while the replacement of Melbourne became a major political issue at the time. Since the mid 1970's the Navy looked at various proposals including a modified Invincible from Vickers of the Royal Navy, the Sea Control Ship design and the Iwo Jima Class of the USN and the Italian Giuseppe Garibaldi class of the Italian Navy, though probably more shipyards offered similar designs like the Spanish SECN (Sociedad Española de Construcción Naval) or the German Blohm + Voss shipyard's various MEKO designs. Eventually the Invincible design was discarded as it proved too expensive to build and the Iwo Jima class was preferred due to it's capability to easily modify to handle VSTOL aircraft and command facilities. I draw the Vicker's proposal, which as the sketch drawing shows would be very similar to the original Invincible though the most prominent changes were: a thinner superstructure, no GWS.30 Sea Dart missile launcher, slightly longer and larger flight deck and enlarged Hanger area to hold more aircrafts and helicopters. A few years later just before the outbreak of the Falklands Conflict the Royal Navy sought to reduce it's carrier force to only two ships and offered Invincible for sale to Australia, which they seriously considered and eventually accepted. The Australians considered removing the GWS.30 Sea Dart launcher as to not only create more deck space but because Australia already using the USN's Standard SAM system, maintaining two separate systems could not be affordable to them. These modifications might had result to the Invincible to look like as she was been in the early 2000's after her 2nd refit. But as the Falklands Conflict escalated the Royal Navy needed all her carriers resulting in Invincible sailed to the war zone and became the longest sailing on sea aircraft carrier of the Royal Navy on sea . After the war the Australian Government offered to release the UK from the sales contract if it wished. The offer was accepted, Invincible was retained by the RN and Melbourne was withdrawn from service in 1982 without replacement. Here I post the various heavy Cruiser designs offered to Australia, in the 1920's and also their own heavy cruiser design! Cockatoo Heavy Cruiser Proposal: https://www.deviantart.com/tzoli/art/Cockatoo-Heavy-Cruiser-Proposal-765349122 After the decommissioning of the battlecrusier HMAS Australia in 1921 and it's scuttle in 1924, the Australian Navy left only with WW1 era light cruisers and destroyers, nothing major to fight the ever increasing power of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Thus the RAN asked the Royal Navy, the Admiralty and Vickers to offer what could be built indigenously in Australia on 10.000tons. At first, plans of the Hawkins class was offered together with the new 8" gun turrets (The counties were still under development at this time) from this the Australians modified the hull to accept 3 triple or 4 twin turrets. 2 such cruisers would had been built at the Naval Dockyard at the Cockatoo Island near Sydney. From the original plans you can see that the cruiser is very much the same as the Hawkins class apart from it's enlarged size and different armament. Another unique element of this project was the usage of casemated 5" guns, meaning the Australians thought the 8" guns would not fire fast enough and required extra punch of which the quick firing guns would suffice.At this time Vickers offered modified versions of the County class heavy cruisers, later in 1926 and 1927 it offered modified designs of the Kent class cruisers. Design 1074X was the 3rd (to my knowledge) of the 1074 export series of heavy cruisers. 1074 was the same as this design in every aspect, probably the difference was the arrangement of engines and non-main armaments on 10.000tons and was probably offered to Spain among others. 1074C was the same hull but with only 4 twin 8" guns again on 10.000tons. 1074X the drawing you see is offered to Australia but it was probably offered to Japan as well is the same as plain 1074 but on 10.160tons. The hull is flush deck with a high forecastle and rising aft, not reminiscent of the Counties then under development but more of a mix between Hawkins (Long sleek lines) and the Counties (Flush Deck, ship size and engine arrangement). The original sketch drawing was rather empty so I have added a catapult with seaplane and County (York) type bridge structure. It has the same flush deck hull and 10.000tons as the counties and was a candidate for Australia to choose but instead the decided for a repeat County class of the Kent Group. On this design in place of the Catapult a command post was installed with centralised range finder equipment directors and seachlights.   21. This is the second part of my Royal Australian Navy Never Were designs with drawings. Here I post the Light Cruiser designs offered to Australia or partially developed by them: Modified HMAS Adelaide designs: https://www.deviantart.com/tzoli/art/Modified-HMAS-Adelaide-designs-764366890 After the 3 Melbourne (Town class, Chatham Group) class cruisers Australia received or built they prepared to lay down their 4th one the August of 1915. This time it was to be the newest type of the Town class: The Birmingham group, but the designers were asked for armament alternatives using 9,2in and 7,5in guns. Using the same weight as the original armament of these cruisers of 9x 6in guns the hull could accommodate 2x 9,2in or 3x 7,5in guns of which the first version was ruled out as two guns would not be enough for ranging. The designers were asked what could be done with 4x or 5x 7,5/45 BL Mk VI guns on a greater displacement with all guns on the centreline and with an ammo supply of 300 rounds rather 150 of standard practice as the ships would probably fight at a longer range. The designs would carry the same armour and range, though the machinery was to be enlarged to 27.500shp and a speed of 25,5knots were excepted which was helped by the lengthened hull of these two designs with the extra tonnage gained from the new guns and turrets as well as the longer armour belt. Official sketches show this kind of turret (yes, fully enclosed turrets) and funnel arrangements hence their layouts. Thus I've created these two drawings based on official DNC sketches though I've added 2x 40mm / 2pdr pom-pom and 2x 3" AA guns and used the Warrior's turrets as a basis for the main guns. Higher speeds are not considered necessary.F - Large endurance.The paper then considers a number of British designs, improved Southampton, Fiji, Dido.It selects the Dido as the most suitable based on its HA/LA armament, but with these weaknesses.A - Endurance much too small. (stated at 7500miles econ, 1,700 miles full speed)B - Too vulnerable to under water attack.C - Insufficient HA firepower abaft the beam.D - Insufficient medium and short range AA armament.E - Inability to engage more than two AA targets in primary control with main armament. The author proposes no torpedoes, but the paper is edited by someone who finds them essential, and points out that doctrine is to “fix by gunfire, and sink by torpedo”.They propose the main slipway at Cockatoo Island built up from its present 450ft to 600ft. All designs, plans, skilled technical personnel etc to be sourced from GB.Imports would include: 80% of all steel (the right grades were not made in Australia – this was cited by the minister in the 1930’s as a reason not to order an Australian Leander).All armour plate. All armament, All fire control. 80% of auxiliary machinery. Forgings for main turbines. 60% of electrical cable. 80% of electrical equipment. Anchor cables. To be laid down in 1944 for completion in 1948, and to be followed by another 5 similar ships from 1944-1953, replacing entirely the wartime losses and pre war ships. For these missions the armament was relatively light but well balanced. The project was dropped due to the issues between missions of what the RAN required and what the RN designers proposed and in the end the Australians bought modified Charles F. Adams class Guided Missile Destroyers, the Perth class and a number of fast attack patrol crafts. Original design included full British weaponry but the Australians wanted American made missiles and guns, thus I've created this later variant. The first designs showed a rather small sized vessel with two 5" guns one aft, one forward, and a helicopter deck of around 2000tons displacement barely larger than a frigate at the time. Over time the design evolved into a very capable destroyer with single 5" gun an RIM-66 Standard SAM, anti ship missiles and short range light AA guns. But like the previous programme the shifting requirements and poor project management by the Navy together with political pressure and increasing costs meant that these ships were never built and instead 4 (later another two home built) modified Oliver hazard Perry class Frigates were bought known as the Adelaide class. While the Yamatos were designed to carry triple 46cm gun turrets with the ability to swap them to twin 51cm ones, the new class should carry these weapons from the beginning. I've chosen this guns because some drawings and some sources says that the A-150 would be armed with these kind of weapons, though I found this unlikely. Originally the C version would be the same as B except the triple 15,5cm guns replaced by twin 20cm ones but I discarded the idea as it did not really change the effectiveness of the ship, actually decreases it in same way as the 20cm guns while more powerful and could shoot further their number of barrels and their reload time is'n better than the excellent 15,5cm ones deceasing their purpose as anti destroyer guns.     The A-150 "Super Yamato" variants.

I've found a mention on some naval sites and forums that even after the A-150 "Super" Yamato the Japanese considered building or designing battleships surpassing even the size of the A-150 type! This design was known as the 100.000ton "Mega" Yamato. To my knowledge only two data was available about this mysterious proposal: A Displacement of 100.000tons and an armament of 51cm cannons! Based on this two data, knowledge on the Yamato preliminaries, the Yamatos themselves and the possible A-150 variants, this is my interpretation of this massive battleship armed with the most modern weapons and equipment of the Imperial Japanese Navy! Like on the previous A-150 series I've put a second 15,5m range finder aft in place of Yamato's 10m secondary rangefinder and enlarged the main rangefinder atop the bridge to 17meters! I've also further enlarged the main superstructure bridge and conning tower compared to the A-150's. Sidenote: It isn't impossible that the 100.000ton design was another A-150 variant with large size heavy armour and many guns!
