I can't be bothered to work out the full chances, but it looks like you'd need something around the 60-70 crate mark on average to complete the collection. Given there's only a bit over twenty available for free this time, it's likely that you'd need another two comparable events to complete it for free.

Realistically, as a CV you want to be close enough that you can cycle your attacks as efficiently as possible, whilst also being safe from getting overrun (and given the crazy high spotting ability, you should get plenty of warning if that's happening, so you can get the hell out of Dodge). When it goes wrong, you end up with the scenario in the OP, where the CV just ends up being blapped.

There are poor players across all the classes, but mistakes are punished far more harshly and visibly in DDs and CVs. Nevertheless, as you play the game more you'll start to recognise situations where you need to disengage earlier in a BB, or push on in as appropriate. We'll never get to a state where everyone across the board is competent, so just focus on improvements you can make in your own play.

I noticed that mine is finally running out, having bought none for the past three years or so (I used to buy a year's worth at half price each Christmas as it was good value to me at the time). You've not lost the SC, the token/snowflake/whatever they're calling it will be added to the ship same as all the others when the event goes live. Obviously there would be no point in them encouraging people to not play the game at all whilst waiting for events to start.

Just for the absolute avoidance of doubt. @Anthoniusii, you live in Greece so the current time there is EEST, which is 1 hour in advance of CEST. The announcement clearly says 14:00 CEST, so to convert that into EEST you add 1 hour, so it becomes 15:00.

As an arbitrary concept it's of course perfectly possible to introduce it, but the practicalities around it would be a real pain. They'd either have to convert all the existing premium time to the new active only version (which would be insane, as people would complain about anything worse than a 24 hours active time per existing premium day conversion, so the people with even 100 days or so premium would likely have enough to last a lifetime), or to run the two concurrently and then work out how to deal with people who have both types. It'd also cause a lot of friction I'm sure at e.g. clan battles times where people are inevitably hanging around waiting for that one guy to log in, or come back from eating etc. It also doesn't serve one of the primary purposes of the existing version, which is to encourage activity within the game (same as daily rewards in the armoury). The use it or lose it nature tends to make people play more than they'd otherwise want to.

I have a similar level of apathy to it. I know there was some sort of pop-up telling me to go to a page and choose a team a few days ago when I logged in, but I couldn't be bothered to click through to it so it's now relegated to "ignored flashing ribbon on the sidebar" status along with the dockyard.

At least that's a simple one to explain - it didn't happen, so just check the replay again if you want to see what actually happened. AP shell does 10k max damage, so 3k on a pen; 4 hits for 12k is nowhere near Boise's max HP.

For what it's worth, I'd suggest a good place for the 3 remaining points would be Basics of Survivability to mitigate fire damage again.

You're trying to deal logically with someone who argues against RNG being in the game, whilst also not knowing what RNG stands for. I don't think that they're likely to willingly do much learning!

Removed* As to the rigged matchmaking thing, it comes up time and time again here but generally with a different reason to it each time. Either it's rigged against players who don't pay, or who do pay but haven't in a while, or who have just bought a ship, or who have criticised wargaming on the forum, or . . . any number of reasons really.

I've always taken TRB on Kagero and Yugumo, it gives you so much potential threat - and you can often catch DDs off guard with it too as they dodge the first set but not expect the second. With the excellent concealment on both, the smoke's not as necessary as it would be on larger/more visible vessels.
