Satan crate drop rates and ship list
Pandafaust replied to arttuperkunas's topic in General Discussion
If you have all the tier 5 to 7s, then your droprate for the T8+ and rare ships goes up - see article text that: If you already have all the ships of a particular group, the drop chances of this group are distributed between the groups of ships that you do not already have in your collection. -
Satan crate drop rates and ship list

You don't think that it's quite handy for people to have some idea of the drop rates for the crates they're going to be spending the snowflake certificates on? -
Satan crate drop rates and ship list
Pandafaust replied to arttuperkunas's topic in General Discussion
It's not the chance of dropping one ship, it's the chance of dropping *at least* one ship. More properly, it's the inverse probability of dropping no ships. If you're after ships only, with no consideration for the relative values of flags, camos etc then mega crates are the best bet. If you wake up having won the lottery and then spent the night with a leprechaun, then go full out on the mini crates. -
Satan crate drop rates and ship list
Pandafaust replied to arttuperkunas's topic in General Discussion
Slight input error on the formula there bud, the mega crates have a 16% ship drop chance rather than 12%, so the chance of at least 1 ship on 6 of them is approx 64.87%. -

Poll: Does knowing the odds reduces gambling?
Pandafaust replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
I haven't directly bought anything for a long time now (just relied on old/freebie doubloons) but I'm certainly more likely to purchase boxes now they've published the odds. -
The Black Friday sequential bundle gamble
Pandafaust replied to Jvd2000's topic in General Discussion
Had the remains of the freebie doubloons given out for the anniversary event so spent some of them on the quest chain. Nothing hugely exciting in most of the crates as anticipated (bit of premium, national camo for dreadnought, some other odds and ends) but got a Kaga B out of one premium crate so with the 2500 doubloon refund mission on that for owning the regular Kaga it's only 2700 or so doubloons net cost. Content enough with that, as indeed I would have been with no ships at all. -
Steam competition (no one won past the dead line)

Any chance you could summarise the issue for those of us that don't have the time to read 277 pages of utter drivel? -
IWM response to concerns about games room on HMS Belfast
Pandafaust replied to Verblonde's topic in General Discussion
It's a pretty standard mishmash email, I've sent plenty of them myself when working as a middleman between e.g the technical team and a supplier. As @Camperdown pointed out, the IWM CS team wouldn't have the faintest idea what the issue is, so will have sent it on to WG for a comment, and then just copy-pasted WG comments into the response. -
It's just a request to be able to run a third div in clan wars, so clans with a multitude of players can keep everyone playing. Seems a world away from the common issue I've seen recently of repeated requests for more people to join the club battle div (alpha) as there's not enough players!

@john1953 did you have any other ships that you used to struggle with back in the distant past that we can now belatedly weigh in with suggestions for? I've probably got some useful tips for dealing with RTS style CVs tucked away somewhere if it helps.

The second paragraph certainly feels like it.

Flemish is the most likely, I know Sharky's made reference before to speaking Dutch (of which it is essentially a dialect) and I think that's the language used on their UI screenshots. It's not apparently based off a French post, nor Luxembourgish. I want to say "Span shells/torps" may actually be a corruption of "spam shells/torps" as again seen Sharky complain about it alongside a screenshot of what appears to be a mino shelling it over an island. It really is just guesswork though.
-
True, but in fairness, the flemish sharkerooni does fairly often respond to its own threads.

It's very much a "fire and forget" topic isn't it? @DEEP_SHARKS any chance you could pop back in to give us some clue what the issue you had was?
-
No, and no.

Is there any chance you could run your question through a different translation program because I literally have no idea what you're trying to say here.

I've seen a fair few chunky DDs, but hadn't noticed any with 13km concealment, which ships are they?

Christ, these April Fools jokes get later every year.

Unless it gains the ability to teleport, you still have an idea where it was when it sent the ping.
-
How can you have zero idea where the sub is, if it was using homing torps (which tell you the direction the homing ping's come from)?

As with the comment from @tocqueville8 above, smoke is the best option for the Leander. When you have lot more experience and are using the tier 9/10 UK CLs there is an argument for swapping it out for radar, but that's a personal choice based on playstyle. The trick with smoke is using it at the right time, right distance from enemy and staying aware that torps are often going to be incoming after around a minute, so expect them and have the ship oriented well and ready to move if necessary. Don't smoke up if you're the front line ship as it just means everything on your side is going to be blinded. General rules of light cruisers is to support your destroyers and focus the enemy destroyers where possible, to give you the spotting and capping advantage; other targets after that are other (preferably not angled) cruisers at medium range, and then battleships if there's nothing else to fire at. If you're in the open and there's only battleships to fire at, it often better not to fire at all.

There's also greater protections for the seller online in this instance than if they were to be selling offline (in the same way that buyers have greater rights when purchasing online also). Logically, this makes sense - there is no "cashier" to do a sanity check of the pricing when making the sale online, so a single point of failure (inaccurate price input on data entry, as in this case) would otherwise cause huge problems. Realistically, people should not be surprised that a sale advertised as 10% off or so is not in fact a 99.86% discount.

Why does +2/-2 matchmaking still exist?
Pandafaust replied to The_Angry_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Ah, there's nothing quite like the sight of a herd of fat, wallowing T10 hippo-BBs when you're in that ship :-) -

That's literally the definition of subjective... Anyway, *subjectively* speaking, I don't have any issues at all when downtiered in a ship, it just means that there's more xp/credits available for essentially doing the same stuff. Case in point, I've just had my first game of the day, it was in no way a spectacular match (I didn't have to do much, but got a torp into a smoked-up DD, landed a salvo or so on a gneisenau and capped a point). However, because I was downtiered, it was a very easy XP bump, if I'd have done the same in a Tier 9 I'd have got basically nothing. In fact, the top three ships on each side were all bottom-tier.
