Do battleships need a little help?

And most BB players that are not absolute potatoes will agree that BB's are fine or even overperforming. Seriously there have been so many direct and indirect buffs to BB's these latest months, and they have the most HP, most amount of armor, biggest guns that normally don't really care if a cruiser tries to angle, their AA makes them almost self sufficent and they get the best Damage control and repair party. Meanwhile RPF is screwing over DD's left right and center, DE is nerfed, CV's are so rare they are almost extinct, every other ship has radar or Hydro so torpedo attacks tend to be less successful than they used to be and cruisers still takes RNG flavoured citadels from increasingly bullshitty angles.

    uss colorado any good

This might just be pure luck, but so far I have managed to win the 4 games I played in the Colorado in Ranked (extremely small sample size but bear with me). I found some interesting things about it, first off the guns. The guns are very punchy and reload faster than the Nagato, and while the turret traverse is slow it is workable, and they have no real issues punching straight through angled cruisers and dealing solid damage to the Gneisenau and Scharnhorst even when they angle. Torpedo protection is by far the best, and armor wise it is atleast better than the Nagato. And it is more difficult to citadel, and the low HP is offset by having a more powerful heal so I never felt squishy. Only real problem is the speed, but if you do your job and hang around the cap points the commute between the caps is not that long and the engagement distances tend to be around the caps anyways so ships tend to come to you. Is it competitive? I am almost inclined to say yes (but that is because I hated the flavour of the month Gneisenau) and I enjoy playing it in Ranked and do fairly well in it. My point is, so far I have never felt like the Colorado is a liability. It can take a beating, it can dish out damage and it can both take point and support from the second line so it basically ticks all the boxes a BB should fulfill in Ranked.

    uss colorado any good

What is wrong with her Ranked performance? Fairly tanky, one of the best BB heals, big punchy guns, good AA, nimble and all her secondaries fire HE and has the same base range as the Nagato.

    Des Moines T3 captain perk

Heals are extermely useful on tier 10 cruisers. Unlike a BB a cruiser can heal up 30% of the citadel damage compared to a BB that can only heal 10%, making it much more usefull right of the bat. And not to mention if properly managed one extrea heal can net you ~25% recoverable HP. And Super Intendent also gives you one extra Radar/Hydro/Defensive AA thus making it one of the most bang for your buck skills at 3 points.

do atago useless compared to kutuzov after 6.0?

Kutuzov has better AA, this is true. But IFHE has not made 203 HE useless. infact it can still hurt a ton and you don't have to give up any firechance in order to both do reliable HE damage and start fires. As for IFHE only beeing 10% repairable, that is just wrong. Citadels can only be 10% healed. Any armor penetrating hit can be healed up to 50%, and fires, overpens, and flooding can be 100% healed. Not sure hwere HE fits into this, but it certainly aint a low 10%. And BB's still retain the highest overall HP, armor and have at most 5 repair partys making them by far the tankiest ship class ingame. Nothing can change this. And saying that the Atago "only" has the heal going for it is laughable. Because beeing one of two cruisers that have heals at tier 8 is strong as it is, not to mention great stealth, good torp angles, powerful main guns and in general only have slow turret traverse and a big citadel as its weakness.

    Des Moines T3 captain perk

I would second this. Unless you have already picked it 1 extra consumable (mainly the heal) can really make a differance for tier 9-10 cruisers. That extra heal is one of the reasons why I have so many Dreadnought achievments in my Roon and Hindenburg.

    Smokescreen useless ?

I recently got killed by a Colorado ripple firing my smokescreen, even though it was maybe 10-15 seconds after I last fired my guns. But from what I previously had seen when that person fired at me, I'm pretty sure it was no form of hack or anything (his aiming was pretty bad actually, and ended up in the lower third of their team). But in that instance when he fired at my smokescreen his prediction was pretty much on point. I just derped and grounded, smoked up, reversed and turned to accelerate. And in the acceleration he hit me with a single stray shot that killed me. But again from what I say previosly, I agree with what people have said in this thread so far: people start to get better at predicting, and with a bit of luck involved there is not a huge problem to snipe out DD's in smokes.

    Servicing Cost, What's the point?

Think of it in another way, with the repair cost fixed, see it more of an incentive to push in and do more damage and get more XP and credits. I mean you are going to pay either way, so in some cases an agressive push where you die can sometimes be way more profitable than surviving. As for playing lower tiers, I actually enjoy playing lower tiers even though I don't really have to. But a lot of the ships below tier 7 are just fun to play and I have no problems getting a few games in them both for enjoyment but also for filling up the MM list. The game just does not get automatically better and you don't achieve ultimate power just for reaching tier 10. Having a couple of lower tier ships helps your sanity aswell from the campy meta at higher tiers.

    DD players in ranked battles

This topic could basically be renamed to "Whenever (insert ship class here) does something stupid my team is at an disadvantage!) So far I have seen everything that annoys me in ranked, people that don't communicate, people who don't realise that smokes are useful, BB's who go to the map edge, cruisers who kite to the map edge, DD's that rush and die instantly, cruisers that for some reason thinks that stopping and smoking up broadside to 2 BB's makes them immune to damage, BB's that refuse to tank and I almost got torped to death by friendlies twice in a session. So in all fairness blaming one ship class when all classes can easily be played just as ineptly is a bit pointless to be honest.

    Arming distance for torpedoes

Arming distance is something like ~800-900 meters ingame. And considering some torpedoes in real life had an arming distance of anything between 500 meters to 1 km, the distances we have ingame is pretty much on point (even though the scale is messed up).

    Fiji's Wiki Entry

Why would I uninstall if I get outplayed or ambushed while out of position? And why would you uninstall after an occurance that happens very far between? Honestly it's not extremely difficult to wreck or cripple even tier 7-8 BB's in a Leander. 8 km torps, great AP volleys, smoke and flimsy armor that ensures overpens a lot of the time.

    Problem Game Bug

After a quick google search you don't seem to be the only one with this problem. I was unable to find any fix for the problem however, so the best you can do is submit a ticket to support and try to explain the problem there and hope for the best: https://eu.wargaming.net/support/kb/categories/3 Just click "Tickets" and then "Submit Ticket".

Are american ships better than others?

It is the other way around really. The Iowa is suprisingly soft for a BB, and most other BB's or heavy cruisers would gladly shoot an Iowa over a Yamato since you can do more damage per volley. Granted for an HE spammer the Yamato is a pretty nice target (large, big HP pool, easy to hit superstructure, often stationary due to bow on tanking) but in general the Iowa is easier to take out and is therefor focused first. As for the rest, well American DD's certianly seem to have the easiest time right now, and American cruisers are up for a buff. But American ships are certainly not best in all categories, it's just the DD's currently that are arguably in the overall best position right now.

    criticism

Alright fine, I will start again: 1: My game still works great after each update, maybe a problem on your end? 2: Destroyers have always been squishy, And more ships now have radar and Hydro. 3: Not really a massive problem. And you can get around it by only targeting the enemey just as you want to shoot at it. 4: A 46 defeat streak is highly unlikely. And the game is not realistic, has never claimed to be, and never will.

    Interested in German Cruisers

I had the reload module on the Roon, and also now on my Hindenburg. And personally, I don't think range is as good of a choice as DPM and stealth. Range has a tendency to push you away from the objectives, and the core strenght of the Roon and Hindenburg is durability and high DPM with solid HE once you add DE and punishing AP volleys. Yes range gives you options, and in the campy meta we have right now it is certainly viable. But again, you sort of limit yourself to becoming an inferiour Zao or Moskva. Mid range engagements is where these two ships shine, and here RoF is more important than 20 km HE spamming. With the stealth module and concealment expert you have reasonable camo, and with great Hydro, turtleback, torpedoes, great broadside and weirdly effective secondaries you have some really capable close range tools. You may never reach the Des Moines levels of close quarter power (even though torps can equlaise this somewhat) but you can certainly put up a fight. And in a mid range engagement with the reload module and your flat arcs, you are a really painful nuisance.

So, private profile, broken english, completely ridicilous claims, 1 post in total and no tips on how to deal with said problems. Nothing to see here, move along.

To all you BB noobs out there

"Never blames the team", creates a topic about that people on his own team should uninstall. And please post your complaints in the other 24 page camping BB thread, or any of the already existing camping BB threads for that matter. We have so many topics of the same issues it's not even funny.

Why has this game got so boring to play?

I will try to be constructive here. OP, I highly recomend you watch some tutorials and properly learn how the game works. This series is a good start: . And it does not hurt to get on the forums and ask questions (not making topics like these), and hopefully you will feel the game is more enjoyable. As for the crates, they are designed to give you atleast one of the items you request, the other two rewards can be random rewards.

    ship just disappearing in game

This thread explains most things:http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/49421-new-spotting-mechanics-guide-rework-patch-055/ Also there is a thing called "invisifiring", where essentailly a ship fires at you from outside of its detection range. Only some ships are capable of doing this however.
  20. ollonborre

    Dealing with HE spam ?

With the nerf to demo expert, moving Jack of all trades to 2 points, introduction of IFHE and superintendent still being a 3 point skill, I would say fire prevention sits fine where it is. And -10% firechance (even though that is little) and reducing the superstructure hitbox to max 1 fire is not really a nerf if you ask me.
  21. Sooo by comparision this game I had here was less impressive because I pushed in, provided far more AA cover, tanked and took their attention because I used HE at some point? I have seen you in similar threads, and there is really no other way of saying this and I'm sure it has been said before: you are delusional. Firing nothing but AP does not give you a moral high ground, refusing to take tips does not make other players trolls or chest beating stat fascists just because you can't see what they are trying to say, you simply don't win as much as you think you do, most of your decisions and tactics just don't work and you definetly don't get more citadels than the average player. But at this point everything one try to say will just glance off.

    Hindenburg Commander skills 0.6.0

I personally run this build currently: When I get my next point I plan to get AFT to boost the AA range, unless I change my mind and use them for some lower tier skills.
  23. Like the others have said, get concealment expert. Demolition Expert is a tier 3 skill and IFHE is a tier 4 skill and not really worth it on 203 mm guns.
  24. ollonborre

How to best improve Roon AA?

I would recommend CE, since with that and the module I think your detection drops down to 10.9 or something if I remember correctly, and coupled with your Hydro and suprisingly effective secondaries you are quite a nasty cap contester.
  25. ollonborre

How to best improve Roon AA?

Manual AA is probably the better option of the 4 point skills, after CE obviously. And if you pick manual AA you should have enough AA power to take Hydro instead of defensive fire, talking about the Roon here.
