    Overpenetration

Got to love those 4k damage "overpens" On topic, there is no problem at all with overpenetrations when firing with BB's. As others have said in the thread already, either aim lower when broadside or aim higher when angled and you have negated a lot of overpens.

French cruiser line. Did I miss something?

I'm just at the tier 5 at the moment, but I do realise why people focus them. Left unchecked they are very potent damage dealers, and with their incredibly flimsy armor cruisers and DD's love shooting both AP and HE at you.
  3. The concealment is meh and the AP penetration angles are yuck, I do agree. But the Hindenburg is by far my most comfortable ship, because it can do anything. People claiming it is a poor mans Zao-Moskva is just wrong. The Hindenburg is awkward in the sense that it does nothing exceptionally better than the other tier 10's, but it can still perform well in areas that more specialised ships do better. -It has nasty torpedo broadside for close range engagements, not nearly as powerful as Zao or Mino, but 6 torps per side can still mess you up. -Turtleback armor and trollish armor overall makes it suprisingly durable. -Best Hydro in the game. -Big AA bubble. It's no Des Moines but with def AA it is not really far behind. -AP when targets show broadside is very punishing. 10k+ volleys on BB's at ~15 km is not uncommon. -12 guns with 8.8 second reload and flat arcs. Applying that DPM is very easy. -With demolition expert and flags you get 16% fire chance. And with the fast reload and mentioned flat arcs it is a good firestarter. -Good range. The one thing I can say is pretty bad is the manuverability. It is a sluggish ship, and even with the speed flag you are only as fast as a Des Moines without the speed flag. But overall the Hindenburg is by no means the worst tier 10 cruiser, hell not even the worst tier 10 ship.

    BB's sniping RN light cruisers

Ship scaling in general is around 2 times larger if I'm not completely mistaken, atleast when you compare it to the terrain or small villages on islands and the like. But the ship scaling when you do side by side comparision is more accurate than one might think. For example your Edinburgh is 187 m long, and the Bismarck is 251 m long. And it does sit high in the water, just as the real ship did.

    Fuso's best skills for ranked

True. But since this is a dedicated Fuso captain I still ended up with CE after getting a bunch of tier 8 games in a row. Now 15.8 km detection range is still bad, but atleast it stops you from getting targeted within the first minute by a bunch of North Carolinas.

    Fuso's best skills for ranked

Like others have said but it is worth saying again, it is the talk of people who actually realise that the Fuso is unrivaled at 14-15 km range where it both can tank and smash anything with the DPM it has. On topic CE is not that useless, atleast not in randoms. Fire Prevention is arguably the more point effective tier 4 skill, but considering that in ranked battles HE spam is very very rare this season. These are my current skills for the Fuso, and so far I found that more lower point skills tend to give you more bang for your buck so to say.

    The Forums have changed!!

Can't go to the latest post in topics, pinned topics that takes up a ton of space in languages I don't speak, confusing layout, not very nice to look at. The old layout was not very appealing to the eye but atleast it was functional and easy to get around. Not a huge fan of the change.

    Mogami?

I recently got my Mogami, and apart from the obvious floating citadel syndrome, this is a really comfortable ship to play. Playing it with the stock guns just feels great, the damage is absurd, you start fires constantly and combined with your great concealment you can wreck DD's. I have not played that many games in it, so the winrate is not that good, and my survival ratio is pretty crap but that is mostly because of me. Still I was pleasently suprised and I will probably not switch out the 155mm guns, they do the job just nicely. And hey the BB heavy meta atleast ensure that you can get some pretty nice damage numbers.

    World of Warships British BB9

This in a lot of ways. I'm all up for the concept of a unique selling point, but it tends to get overdone. Case in point, German BB's. They already had turtleback, making them impossible to instantly burst down. But then for some reason they were also given hydro. People will still get the ships even if there is just a slight variety between them, but for some reason WG seems terrified that no one will spend money on them so they give them everything.
  10. I belong in the camp of people that hated the Gneisenau. The ship itself is good, fast, durable, strong secondaries, strong AA and torps. But the main armament is a temperemental mistress. The dispersion coupled with the low amount of shells made it just frustrating to play. The rest of the ships are universally good, but the Gneis seems to be one of those ships you either love or hate with no middleground.

A few Updates ago, you destroyed it!

And from medium range, and from long range. I am not aware of any gun angle change, but honestly it should not matter much. When you shoot a Nurnberg you either overpen or citadel it, even with DD guns. There is no middle ground. It has always been incredibly flimsy. And atleast rejoice from the free IFHE, a change I would consider to be pretty damn amazing.

Aha, I see. What about the armor and HP though, is that going to be weak to compensate for some other things? I have seen some really disheartening screenshots of a Minotaur type heal...

    Z-23: A super-Akatsuki? I want one!

The biggest issue I have with the Z-23 is that it comes after the Maas. Tier for tier the Maas feels stronger and more flexible, as the torps and gun power are just better vs tier 7-8 than the Z-23 is vs tier 9-10. Don't get me wrong I do like the Z-23, I have almost completed the grind in it and I will probably keep it for the occasional Ranked game, but I can't help feeling that the Maas with a few tweaks just as easily could have been tier 8 instead.

Is that so? I'm honestly asking since I don't know anything about her apart from the hurrdurr fire chance. No idea about her other stats. And the reason why I don't consider HE spamming BB's as big of a threat as a cruiser is generally consistency. Fire damage ticks over a long time, it is fully recoverable (talking about tier 9-10 ships here with the heal) and it just lacks the punch of BB AP that will often cause more significant damage. HE damage also has to compete with all the other HE spammers so the superstructure is almost always very saturated not too far into the game. I think what I'm trying to say is fires take a relatively long time to finish targets, and while the fire chance is insane there is still a lot of RNG involved, especially since it is a BB. However all of this is mostly due to the fact that I have no idea how the rest of the ship performs, accuracy, HE damage, penetration and all that sort of thing. My small and unprofessional analysis is entirely based on the current ships in the game, where what I said do apply. I really need to get some more info and knowledge about the Conqueror however.

Even if you do spam HE it is more of an annoyance than an actual threat. Your damage drops by quite a lot and your enemy can fairly easily get most of its HP back. The only reason why HE work in some BB'S like the Sushi is because people panix when they get set on fire, and because it has a lot of guns with a really fast base reload. The reload alone is going to limit the Conquerors abilty to get "permanent" fires if for some reason the fire chance stay as it is.

    General Feedback

The hell is up with this sudden hostility? The question was just really simple, why do you have the rush to get to tier 10? That in my mind should be a simple and easy to explain.

    General Feedback

Why is it useless? Sounds like a valid question to me. On topic, I have hard some wierd desyncs and turret bugs lately, like on my Hindenburg the closest rear turret towards the superstructure started turning like it could turn 360 degrees and clipped into the superstructure. I could not use that turret for some time even though the turret indicator said it was good to go.

    Commander Specialization

You need to be the correct account level, which is 7. To get there you need a total of 19 000 XP, after that commanders will be avaliable to you.

Which ships have exceeded your expectations?

Hands down the Leberecht Maas. I have heard that the German DD's were crap, but while playing the Gaede I became pleasently suprised. And then I reached the Maas, and oh yes is this a great DD. Pretty fast, solid overall torps, suprising firepower, not half bad AA and Hydro. When top tier it will absolutely kick the teeth in off any sametier or lower tier DD trying to contest your caps. And when bottom tier you can truly suprise higher tier DD's by smoking up close to them and popping hydro, leaving them horribly exposed and out of position. And I have to second the Mogami. It is squishy yes, but with CE it has great camo, and all it took was 12k free XP to get the range upgrade and it became one of the most comfortable and easiset near stock ships I have played so far.
  20. Yes, very. And I did share the same experince when I last played it, a well placed AP volley meant crippling damage or certain death for most cruisers at tier 6-7.
  21. Does it? Now it was quite a while since I played the Hipper, but the Hindenburg has more guns and as far as I can work out the guns are pretty much identical. Unless you mean that the Hipper can face tier 6-7 ships, then yeah, I sort of see what you mean. On topic, I never really had any problems with the Hipper. It was not great, but I don't have any horrible memories of it either. And don't undervalue that Hydro and torps. With the nerfed Bismarck Hydro the Hipper reigns supreme at tier 8 in the Hydro department. And sure the RN have 8 km torps, but they can't launch a total of 12 of them in a brawl. Also the Hipper does have turtleback, so unless you are getting hit by plungin fire it is suprisingly annoying to citadel. It could sure use some love, I agree, but I'm not sure I would agree it is completely unplayable.

The donskoi, how to make it work?

Forgot about that, yeah I will probably do it when the next sesssion turns up. But for now my Donskoi is retired and the captain is in the Chappy, and so far I have not regretted it.

    Damage Falloff

Agree, on the plus side though lots of BB's often leads to hilarious damage games so the numbers are not always so bad. And I also agree with waxx, worse dispersion penalty primarily aimed at BB's for longer ranges. I have no idea how people think it is fun or effective sitting at 18-20+ km hoping that RNG will bless you with a random citadel from a [edited]angle.

The donskoi, how to make it work?

I don't know, I personally think the Roon is at the top because of its flexibility. And because it suits my playstyle better. Thing is, I had no real problem bonding with the previous cruisers (Chapayev being my favourite) but the Donskoi just feels so awkward to play. It feels clunky and unresponsive, it is extremely squishy, huge target and you just cannot support with the radar early on since that means certain death. Chapayev is a barrel of fun. Fast firing and good guns, feels nimbler (well, smaller atleast), stealthier and it can use the radar with great effect due to the improved camo. Maybe I should just stop at the Donskoi and move the crew back to the Chappy where it belongs, since the Moskva is going to be more of the same from what I have read in this thread.

Im I the only one that goes

Aha, yes then in that regard it is a silly buff, I agree. And I also agree that they should look at the AP pen angles aswell. Broadside= amazing DPM, even slightly angled= bounce city. Still atleast now you can do a few hundred more damage per volley when they angle away from you
