Moskva and HIV are very strong in most games. The Hindenburg is strong in every game. The combination of durability, AA, DPM, Hydro and alright concealment means there is always one part of the ship you can play around no matter the matchup or situation.

The Edinburgh for me was more fun than the Fiji. With the superheal and improved stealth it is a fantastic DD hunter, and the citadel is not that exposed so you can get away with certain moves. The Neptune on the other hand has been painful so far. I know that it is squishy with the raised citadel, but I was not prepared on just how squishy it is. So the change from Edinburgh-Neptune is much harder compared to Fiji-Edinburgh. Still I can feel the potential of the Neptune. All I need to do is change my playstyle, you simply can't play the Neptune like the Edinburgh and expect to get away with things.

The reason behind the poor dispersion of German & US BB's ingame
ollonborre replied to KMS_Tirpitz's topic in Battleships
Ah well I was unsure about the Bayern. The Scharnhorst and König though have the best sigma and lots of guns with good RoF so they are atleast the most accurate on paper. -
The reason behind the poor dispersion of German & US BB's ingame
ollonborre replied to KMS_Tirpitz's topic in Battleships
Nothing happend when the rest of the Germans got released. The Tirpitz always had derp guns since day one, and the only reliably accurate German BB ever since is the König and Scharnhorst, possibly Bayern aswell. So you have citadel proof armor, hydro, monster AA on some ships and great secondaries. Offcourse your main guns suffer. And having a high point captain is not mega difficult to get, when you reach tier 8 a 10+ point captain is not an impossible feat even without premium and flags. Also you might want to dip into the cruiser pool. It is clear you have never experienced it considering your comments about them. -
The thing about the Arkansas and what makes it special is that you have acess to every single US BB module (apart from the AA related ones). So if you are dedicated about your Arkansas and spend a lot of credits on it it can become a really powerful ship.

For the Belfast the nerf was not even much of a nerf. If something got within 6 km before you were already screwed or you slaughtered it, so nothing really changed. It still has its broken toolbox and gunpower so the nerf did not change how you play it, and with the new spotting mechanics you are sometimes even more powerful than before.

The inventory still feels very wonky. Sometimes it just straight up refuses to load and even if it does load it is not uncommon for it to be empty even though you know you have hundreds of camos and flags.

Yes the Beta tester tag hold so much relevance 2 years after the beta has ended. As for the MM, the one thing that needs to get sorted is DD and radar ship distribution.

T8 Cleveland - what changes would you like to see?
ollonborre replied to Ryouzanpakku's topic in General Discussion
Precisely. It would be nice to just get a nice solid ship without any gimmicks with clear strenghts and weaknesses. -

I stand corrected then, I forgot that citadels where shared. Still the Cleveland had stupid survivability for a cruiser. Which would make it even more fun if they reverted the old citadel when they move it to tier 8. -

During Beta the magazines where pretty much submerged, so hitting them was mostly down to RNG. The blue areas where the only "reliable" place to citadel it but as you can see they are tiny and not directly under the smokestacks, meaning you had to adjust your aim to what you were normally used to. Basically the Cleveland was stupid during beta, with godlike armor since you could not burst it down reliably, insane AA and could most certianly hold its own during a gunfight. -

ollonborre replied to Ryouzanpakku's topic in General Discussion
This was the placement during Beta atleast (blue parts are citadel areas). So as you can see it was not where you normally think it is and it was tiny. Citadelling a Cleveland during Beta was a nightmare if you did not know where to aim, or just down to dumb luck since even if you knew where to aim it was small and annoying. EDIT: Seems like the forum ate the picture... See if this works instead: http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2015/30/1437422123-cleveland-citadelle.jpg -

No one said anything about giving it Kutuzov range. Mogami range of around 15.8 will do just fine. Means you can atleast take potshots at BB's and still hit them. And with that range you are also able to have the option of still being useful even if you don't get close to your enemy. The AP I also feel has great pen for tier 6, so maybe a slight increase to make it tier 8 material. Reload of 7.5 is in line with other 155 armed tier 8 cruisers, no real issue there. All in all like I said before, you don't need much to make it a viable tier 8. Just make it a tier 8 Cleveland, it's not much harder than that. -

ollonborre replied to Ryouzanpakku's topic in General Discussion
Is this sarcasm? Since in my mind you don't need to pile on gimmicks, big buffs or overhauls in order to create a solid ship. Just get the Cleveland on tier 8 with tier 8 tweaks and that's it, jobs done, everything we liked about the Cleveland is still there but now it is tier 8. -
The Nagato is not a bad ship. It has the best BB guns on tier 7 overall in regards to damage, penetration, accuracy and range. The armor is not great, but angled and with the HP pool you can still be difficult to kill. And as for aiming, well, you can certainly improve it a bit. ~20% hit ratio is not brilliant even for a battleship. Beeing in the high 20 or low 30% is more preferable.

The old citadel placement would be hilarious. Other than that a slight range increase and tier 8 tweaking on the HP and AA values would be nice. And I'm not sure touching the shell arc is a change I would like. Right now abusing terrain is one of the things that makes the Cleveland fun. -
Inertia Fuse For HE Shells (IFHE) Skill (Kii)
ollonborre replied to FrenziedClam's topic in General Discussion
For fun factor and for trying atleast something different? Yeah sure, those secondaries become absolutely brutal with IFHE. -
The problem is that the ones that need to read these types of topics or watch guides never visit the forum sadly. On a sidenote, do you still retain a star if you are top XP? If that is the case then one tip is: dont't try to save your star just for the sake of saving. Better to try to push for caps or help out in any way you can. Do not just try to farm a bunch of damage or kills for the sake of keeping a star.

Roma - Tier VIII Premium Italian BB suggestion
ollonborre replied to ImperialAdmiral's topic in Battleships
Going to harp on what @affeks said, but the last part in particular is just wrong. Having a BB without concealment build is very rare, and there is something fundamentally wrong with the game when we are in a time where a cruiser can at best outspot a same tier BB with ~2 km margain (sometimes even less). And it's not like it is limited to just a few ships, pretty much every BB gets insane values from a concealment build. I mean in the König for example you can get 12 km concealment. That is almost the same as an Omaha, and you don't need to be an expert to see who has the upper hand when both get spotted at roughly the same time. I'm all up for diverse build options, but this whole concealment obsession is rapidly going downhill. -
Sims feel pretty fine honestly. Only real issue are the torps like people pointed out already. But the 9.2 km torps do have their fun factor. The fast reload and slow speed means you can carpet a cap point with torps, and their low detectibility catches people often. But it is dishartening to get 2 torp hits on a DD and not killing it since the damage is pathetic. So there is that. But I'm not sure if I want to trade the range and stealth for a bit more damage when the guns are your main source of damage anyways and the torps are "just" a nice area denying tool or a way to get people to move.

FYI: the requirements for the "North Cape" (Duke of York) campaign are way more specific/harder than those for the Graf Spee of 2016.
ollonborre replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Only the 4th sets of mission seems to be annoying (medal dependant for the larger amount of pins) but the rest are not that time consuming or difficult. -
For dedicated sealclubbing the Derzki or Wickes can cause much more mayhem than the Vampire. I have only played 1 game in it but it did not feel insanely OP. Strong gunpower yes but as soon as something with even the slightest armor came into view it was shatter city.
-
Meh who cares if it is just a clone or an underwelming ship. If you can get it from a campaign for free then fine by me, and if they want to put it in an expensive package for "quick" acess then again I don't care. Buy it if you like, personally I will either grind for it or don't bother since, you know, that is also an option.

I think my problem is that I just have not played CV enough to fully know how big of a risk I can take when it comes to loosing planes. So far I have held of a bunch of strikes with fear of loosing 50% of my planes just because I got impatient. And when it comes to learning by doing, random battles are the only reliable way. Playing CooP or Operations are nice for microtraining or getting to grips with arming distance. But the AI don't strafe or behave like real players do so you can't really learn much from it.

I was in that game, he continued to rave on quite a bit when I tried to explain the concept of RNG, destroyed AA modules and that if a tier 9-10 CV wants to strike you, it will. He did not really get it so to say. On topic, I tried picking up CV play again after almost a year I think. And so far it's mostly been gnashing of teeth and frustration. I'm not good in a CV, I admit that, but it does not help to get dumped into tier 8 games over and over again in my Ryujo where I am extremely limited to do much. When I do get into a tier 7 game it's a bit better, and if I die it's mostly down to my positioning or personal retardation. Still I do find it difficult overall. AA powercreep is certainly a thing (loosing half my torp bombers to a lone Bayern, ok) and the constant uptiering is annoying.
