You can play the Richeliue like a standard BB, ish. For only having two turrets in the front the gun angles are amazing, and the traverse great if you use the special French captain with EM. So while it is designed as a bow tanker using it to move about and kiting away when things get rough works just as well. I really enjoyed the Riche and with the camo you got from the campaign it is a keeper for me.

IMO the difficulty change did not really make much of a difference. No you can't deal with 4-5 ships at the sime time anymore, but why should you be able to do that? The game mode is still easy if you change your playstyle from roaming rambo to a more cautios approach.

Agree, tier 4 witherer for the win The Sushiboat is absolutely evil even without a megacaptain. Even with the introduction of the Orion the Sushi thanks to the number of guns and reload is pretty much the OG firestarter at tier 4.

Apart from the range (which is kind of offset by a pretty good base concealment) this does not look too bad actually.

I don't know what ship will replace the Cleveland, but that one should work. Other than that Budyonny, La Galissionere or Nurnberg should work just fine. The thing is since Cleveland always pretty much was a tier 8 in disguise a full on replacement is not going to be easy to find. The previous ships I mentioned offers gun power, flexibility, some AA and in some cases durability. But none offers everything at the same time like the Cleveland does.

How would YOU design U-boat gameplay?

In operations or a special PvE gamemode, yeah sure I'm for it. But they shall stay out of PvP. -
How would YOU design U-boat gameplay?
ollonborre replied to Enduro_Biker's topic in General Discussion
Strong minded and insane often go hand in hand. And sure I would enjoy the playstyle of having an even more fragile extreme version of what is arguably the most unreliable ship line in the game. Less torps would just be boring as hell, even if they did 100k damage. If you can't reliably hit targets or spam out enough of them you are going to be pretty useless. And diving deeper, just no. We already have people running away at the slightest hint of danger. Imagine a sub just going deep instantly when a cap is contested and effectively taking itself out of the battle for a long time. -
Would an HE-only cruiser be effective?
ollonborre replied to RadioFighterYR's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much. All high tier cruiser AP is often a lot more effective than most people think. And even if a BB start to angle the superstructure gets enough armor for your shells to dig in aswell. -
Would an HE-only cruiser be effective?
ollonborre replied to RadioFighterYR's topic in General Discussion
Sure the Zao can spam HE all game long and still be very effective. But Expert Loader combined with AP and delivering surprise 10-15k volleys on cruisers or BB's that don't expect it is even more effective. -
I have had this happen if I click "continue" on an ongoing mission. It would then dump into the random que regardless of what gamemode I had previously picked. Never noticed this when I manually select mode however.

Would an HE-only cruiser be effective?
ollonborre replied to RadioFighterYR's topic in General Discussion
But why though? Honestly we don't need more "special" things or ships loaded with tons of gimmicks. All we need are shiplines with basic pros and cons, we don't need ships with gimmicks just for the sake of giving them something to make them stick out. Look at the French cruisers. Perfectly fine in their own right, some weird spaced armor, guns somewhere in between of russian and american guns. But no they just had to have a speed boost for the sake of, something. -

ollonborre replied to RadioFighterYR's topic in General Discussion
Yes and no. Yes in the sense that you will always do something regardless of angling and fires. And no-ish since that once a target gives you enough broadside the AP damage will surpass the HE. Honestly I don't really see the point. Most light cruisers with the introduction of IFHE are pretty much "HE only cruisers". And even if you have HE those AP volleys are really something I would miss when a target is so saturated you can only reach a fraction of the damage. The British AP only cruisers work since they get special AP, smoke, torps and heal. But that is the thing, they kind of need this pile of gimmicks to have their full potential (not in any way saying they are bad or ineffective, but you get the point). -
serious lack of credits being earned... Need more, how?
ollonborre replied to Sark74's question in Q&A Section
The Sims is a great moneymaker and often does not require that much effort to bring in quite a bit of money. Focus on getting caps and targeting other DD's and the rewards should be much better than what you can get with your normal ships. -
This should have you covered for now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrYIgaEuQ3o, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tAWN32AnZY. Bear in mind that even if your aim feels like it is 100% correct there is still an element of RNG involved, so don't get too frustrated at first. Take a look at those videos, do some more practice. That is the best tip I can give, just practice and try out for yourself.

It is right now the third "topic" if you like on the very frontpage if you visit the main page (assume it is the same in the client). Anyways Riselotte linked all the relevant info.

Last time I checked the normalisation was worse for the Germans but the close range pen unrivaled (and the damage, I can very well be wrong though). Having spent some time with German DD and cruiser AP I can tell that the pen drops quite quickly at longer ranges but if you get a flat broadside the damage is still good.
-
Actually the Soviet AP is overall much better. German AP has raw damage, but soviet AP has better pen and normalisation so the damage is more consistent at longer ranges and at slight angles. As for the topic at hand I have gotten a bit more input, so I feel I have some experimenting to do.

The Freddy and Iowa are very strong ships in their own right. Freddy is just a bigger Bismarck with even more brutal secondaries, tankier and while the guns are still derpy as hell they pack a bigger punch. Iowa has better velocity and with the accuracy module it is more accurate if I'm not mistaken. AA is not quite as strong tier for tier like the NC (but NC AA is pretty OP for tier 8) but it is still great. It is also faster and the gameplay in general does not change much apart from more consistent guns IMO.

Why KC won't collab WoWs, and what to learn from it
ollonborre replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in General Discussion
I think it is Girls and Panzer, basically tanks and anime that WG sold some premium tanks with what I assume is popular characters from the show. -
The North Carolina is a static BB, Bismarck and Tirpitz are more close range focused and the Amagi is inbetween and tends to move around a bit more. But not engaging in brawler fights, thus it is roaming around the battlefield providing firesupport where it is needed the most.
-
I think the Richeliue can be an alternative to the Amagi when it comes to roaming, but the only reason you would pick a Richeliue over the Amagi is if you don't own an Amagi or don't have a good captain for it.

Concealment? Pff rudder module is the way to go And I don't disagree that the Myoko has BB handling on the turrets, but the rest of the gun stats are so good for tier 7 it does not matter too much. The Myoko is one of those ships that will always work in any meta since its overall stats are good across the board, and the turrets are pretty much the only real downside I can think off (maybe torp angles, but since this ship loves to kite, well).
-
If you plan to use torps in the Soviet gunboat line you are doing it wrong. They are called "gunboats" for a reason.
-
That is a very valid option. The problem is that my planned build right now involves PM-LS-DE-SE-SI-AFT so there is only room for either AR or BFT as of right now.

4.3 rounds per minute is 14 sec, so 1 sec faster. Anyways it seems like the IJN cruiser line as you say is simply not for you. Personally I enjoy it and I would argue that it is the best starter line if you want to jump into heavy cruiser gameplay.
