Adding to this, the 420 have slightly better penetration at above 15-16 km (something that matters very little as you are still likely to cause damage anyways if you hit). But apart from that tiny change the 420's are not worth it as you also don't pass any overmatch thresholds that the 406 can't deal with.

Three days of bad teams? Can't be only me?

Normally I really hate the whole "blame team" thing but after my latest ranked games I'm almost ready to jump on that bandwagon... -

Problem with relying on DOT and criticals is that fires only last 10 something seconds on a CV, damage control just instantly repair everything and criticals are also repaired faster. So you can't burn a CV to death, not really. So you are left with HE DPM which on most cruisers is the way to go for raw damage as the hull and deck on up to tier 8 CV's atleast can bounce 203 mm AP reliably where as HE gets penetrations.

Yup just equip the range mod and don't look back. Spam BB's at long range and only move close if you have an escape plan and/or have a friendly DD in front of you that you can support and maybe blap the enemy DD. The Ibuki does not offer that much over the 155 Mogami but it is a fairly easy grind. Not interesting or very fun as you explode as soon as someone looks at you but easy nonetheless thanks to the long range HE playstyle. The Zao offers much more with better turret placement, railguns, troll armor and 12 km torps so it is worth sticking with it.

Where is the promissed ARP hide in port?
ollonborre replied to Ayanami_Reen's topic in General Discussion
Yup this. Previously you could not sell them, but now you can so the option to hide them in port is not needed unless you are some weird collector who wants to keep them but not see them (in which case just use filters and favorites to show them far down your port. Or mods). -
Huh? Not in my experience, sure you do get some wonky volleys now and again but overall shells land pretty much where I aim them and I find them to be very accurate for such large guns.

True, it really showcase how abysmal this playerbase can be at times.

Rather revive this than opening my own thread, but I could also use some tips on how to Hakuryu. First off I'm a CV noob with very limited experience in CV's post rework, so I will also accept that this is in general a lack of experience question. But so far I have found that I can't quite influence the battle in the degree I would like, and I can't pin it down as to why. Small samplesize and lack of games played overall in CV's are 2 big factors sure, but I can't really see what I'm doing that makes me feel very ineffective. My spotting damage is alright, overall damage ok (could be better), I go for high value targets in the beginning and farm damage as a secondary objective. And yet I still don't feel I'm doing enough. So any tips would be useful, posting my builds aswell for added tips and tricks. Crew skills Modules

https://worldofwarships.com/en/content/captains-skills/?skills=9,17,18,23,26,28,33&ship=Battleship Just go for this with your 2 point skills beeing optional (I personally run Jutland captain on mine with the special JOAT for faster heals and damage con).

In fairness out of the tier 10 BB's the Kremlin and Yamato are the ones that can get citadelled on a reliable basis. Never said that was a justifiable weakness, IMO BB's in general should be easier to citadel or punish when they make mistakes.

Annoying as crap to deal with when angled, free citadels once you get their broadside has been my experience so far.

Being pink is as you say a warning. Play 2-3 games without causing any friendly damage (including ramming) and it goes away. Continue to do friendly damage even when you are pink and you will be banned from random battles for a certain amount of games and forced to play coop, and if you continue despite this you will recieve a full on ban for a certain amount of time. Now from what we can gather the team damage is cumulative. So even if you get rid of your pink status quickly if you are a repeated offender you will recieve it back even more quickly each time. So getting pink once is not such a big deal, but getting pink repeatedly will result in harsher punishments quicker aswell.

Play your other 2 ships instead. Obviously the GK is not working out (and is kind of a meh pick for Ranked) so if you want a BB pick your Yamato. Or my own recommendation from your list, the Hindeburg. Yeah the HE alpha and AP pen is low, but it is tanky, has 1/4 HE pen, AP damage is still high if you get broadside and the AA is not terrible so you can defend yourself somewhat.

Flint in the current meta
ollonborre replied to DDMafiaAssociateMember's topic in General Discussion
Flint is just a straight up superiour Atlanta. The Atlanta does pretty well in the current meta, it's only weakness being really squishy and most of its AA is dodgable(?). The Flint solves that problem by having higher AA DPS on its midrange aura and a smoke so you can position wherever you feel like it. -

On the subject of CV's, they have not been the end all harbingers of death as most people assumed (including me). SInce everyone knows that CV's are present in Ranked all the Cruisers are heavily AA specced and even some BB's, and everyone tend to blob up reducing the CV's effectiveness further. Reached Ranked 9 pretty quickly by just spamming Wooster and supporting the occasional DD. So far one of the least stressful ranked seasons (biggest headache are the rentals). -
Getting a large amount of steel is much much harder than getting coal. Getting steel now might seem easy since we just had clan battles and now ranked started again, but after that there will be a long drought before steel becomes avaliable again. Daily mission chains, containers and those victory containers throw coal at you while the steel you get from ranked is finite at best.

I don't have such a huge problem with rental ships in Clan Battles. There you have voice comms and hopefully plenty of experience among your members so you can guide the rental ship player around, not to mention it does allow some smaller clans to atleast try to play clan battles. In Ranked though where it basically is 7vs7 random battle they are a horrible addition.

The spotting aircraft gives you +20% range as you say, and they give you an elevated view of the battlefield. This takes some getting used too but once you get the hang of it it becomes much easier to see enemies behind cover and hitting them. They don't help you detect anything really unless you sail close to an island and they fly on the other side of it. They are completely unarmed, will get shot down by enemy fighters and will only drain 1 fighter from the enemy fighters (so in practice this does nothing as AA will target everything in its radius, meaning his attack aircraft are free regardless). It is a useful plane though primarily for that elevated view. This will help you to more easily locate tracers from within smoke screens to counter fire and as I said hit targets hiding behind certain islands that otherwise would be mostly obscured.

Experience for different contributions
ollonborre replied to Myrmidon19's topic in Newcomers' Section
Kills are important when it comes to reducing the enemies points and reducing the number of guns that can harm your team. However sometimes just going all in and trying to get a kill can do more harm than good if it means that you risk loosing your own ship. Same about overall damage and criticals. Doing damage is all fine and dandy but if you just farm "pointless" damage and not damage on high value targets then high damage is not helping your team. Example if you farm 100k damage on 4 BB's is worse than farming 100k on 2 BB's (seems obvious but you would be suprised). If you don't get kills, but you get respectable damage on high value targets (cruisers, destroyers, pushing battleships etc), shoot down some planes and maybe get a cap or 2 with some spotting/tanking then you will have contributed just as well as someone who gets a few kills. -

I know that confused me a bit. I assume the "target" is you, as in you will be getting more XP and credits the bigger the ship you have. Could be a way to encourage other classes than DD's to cap but that is just my theory. -

What is also worth remembering when it comes to XP and credit gain, they are based on % of max HP. So doing 10k damage on a DD will yield greater rewards than doing 10k on a BB for example. Taking potential damage also gives you credits and XP as do spotting enemies, so it is always worth to keep that in mind. Exact calculations and even more info can always be found here http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Economy. The wiki is always worth a visit if you want more info, or just ask here on the forum. -
I really liked the Edinburgh. Better concealment than the Fiji and access to the superheal made it very comfortable to play and you could get away with some mistakes since you can recover pretty well. It does not need buffing, all of its problems are beeing uptiered a lot IMO.

But if you think that the CV rework is so bad you can't stand beeing in battle with them, why even play then? If you know the chance of facing a CV is going to be great on certain tiers why screw over the rest of your team by quitting?
