Yes. Put a tanky stealth build on it and play it as a mid range support ship. You are really tanky with solid AA, 'Murica AP and radar to top it off.
-
I have tested it on CV's and yes you do get an extra fighter.
-
Underperforming? They were absolute garbage with the nerfs. 1.3 km arming distance with 40 knots of speed? You had to be an absolute muppet to take a hit post nerf even against a full stealth build Haku. I for one thank them for the free XP and credits.
-
Aha so this explains why my Ranger decided to do a 3 point turn in Raptor rescue despite beeing in completely open waters, when I set the waypoint straight ahead.
-
Apart from best stealth in class from tier 8 and up, super heal that can reprint your ship twice in a game, the most ludicrous HE in the game and beeing somewhat small in BB terms. The citadel raise is a good thing, and the added armor strip around the citadel just means you get rewarded more for angling instead of herp derp broadsiding everywhere.
-
That is because the 168k XP is just for the ship itself, where as the 208k is with the remaining upgrades on the Charles Martel. So you don't need to be afriad of "wasting" XP, it's all calculated into the grind. As for ammo usage, apart from what have already been said a good rule of thumb is this: Long range and bow in targets, use HE. Closer ranges <15 km and your tagets give you a lot of broadside use AP almost regardless of target (however if you start to bounce and shatter just switch to HE). A combo of ammo is always better than sticking to purely 1 type especially in a cruiser.
-
You want Priority target, adrenaline rush, super intendent (for extra smokes) and concealment as a core build. Then picking up IFHE and demolition expert and use the last 2 points for whatever. Main armament mod 1, accuracy module and rudder shift are the modules I would recommend.

If you complete one of the collections you get an alternative look for your camos. So you probably just need to check that. Hover over your perma camo and you should see 2 small boxes and then you just select the one with the "old" camo.

I know you try to derail this, but the point is still there. In every sense of the word, BB's have the best survivability, arguably best overall firepower, decent to excellent AA, for some reason good concelament and some even have cruiser speeds and not too bad handling. Fires are annoying, IFHE can at times be too strong on some ships and the focus is stressful at times. But having a proper build, damage control managment and heal managment and you will outlive anything that isn't a CV.
-
In numbers? Yes. In total % of AA? Hell no. Be in a DD or a cruiser and get blapped by HE bombs or something like Conqueror HE and woops all your mid-close range AA is down to nothing.
-
I'm gonna touch on something that might have been missed, and that is the point that the OP is mostly playing French BB's, the most IFHE prone BB line. From tier 8 and up they are covered in 32 mm plating and is very delicious to HE spam. However, they are still BB's, meaning even the Republique, arguably the squishiest tier 10 BB vs HE, will still take minutes to go down from a single Wooster if the Republique heals, uses damage control and spood beest away. Also damage saturation. And if you do get into a position for a Wooster to farm you, the tips @GarrusBrutus provided go a long way. Or just accept your faith that you can't win every time and move on.

This hurts.

Sure it might be 45 degrees, however the Kremlin is not straight in front of you. If he was it would have been ideal, but since he is too far to the left you end up showing a more flat broadside.
-
More like nearly full broadside, especially when you consider the loaction of the Kremlin. No wonder you got blapped.
-
In that case he overangled and let himself be blapped. And it is not like an angled Kremlin is immortal provided you go for the superstructure shots. Still intrigued by the 10k Alaska volley.

Go for: - PT or PM - AR, LS - BFT, SE - IFHE, CE Then get the reload module in the 6th slot. In the current meta it might be worth to go for torp reload however due to heavy air spotting and less oppurtunity for dakka. On topic, apart from the squishyness the Minotaur is a lot more fun and stronger in the current meta. It shreds planes and have higher damage potential that enables it to carry games easier. And as for a possible clan wars future with CV's in them, I can see Minotaurs replacing DD's almost completely.
-
25-30 games for a Kraken on average seems only reachable for super unicums or mid tier only players IMO. You manage it but I get a Kraken "only" once every ~94 games in total. High Calibers and Confederates on the other hand are about 10 games on average.

Addressing bugs that have been in the game since day1
ollonborre replied to Yankmyplank's topic in General Discussion
You are the first one I have heard of that have had this supposed problem, and I have been here a while. A replay or trying your luck with support would perhaps shed more light. -
The Yoshino is almost a better target than a Yamato unless the Yamato is completely alone thanks to that mentioned 1k meme DPS. Bottom line is that unless you have a tier 10 CV or play operations you are in for a ride.
-
Yeah what @Panocek said. Unless you get tier 10 tier 8 CV's fair marginally better thanks to increased plane speed, an extra module slot and a heal for your torp bombers. So you can influence a bit better and unless you kamikaze your planes early on it is possible to strike isolated targets. Until you face a Minotaur.
-
Pre AA hotfix it was manageble. Yes you would not have the impact as in a tier 6 game but you could still pull your weight if you picked your targets carefully and spotted. Now it is a lot harder, so you either have to endure, free XP it or grind it out in operations (my recommendation).

Suggestion for Endgame Content and Time Sink.

How about this for a change, let us not try to find solutions to something that WG never should have tried in the first place. -
Oh yeah just realised it. Thought you could still get them for gold and you had to manually select credits (which I did ages ago so I was completely unaware they removed the gold option).

Agree fully with this. Trying to discuss one particular subject in a massive 200+ page thread is painful and meaningless at best. So breaking certain topics up in their separate threads makes it much easier to catalog and discuss a single subject and is easier for everyone, instead of going full Gulag on every thread that pops up.

In World of Tanks we have Marks of Excellences on tanks above tier 5, essentially a sort of bragging rights cosmetic feature. There are 3 steps that get progressively harder, and what is calculated into the Mark is average damage and spotting/assistance damage. So step one is to get above 50% of the population in that tank, step 2 75% and step 3 95% if I'm not mistaken. Now could this be applied to ships and why? Well for me atleast with the current clan battle rotation, ranked season and plenty of missions most ships below tier 8 are collecting rust in my port. Having Marks of Excellence or something similar to try and achieve would give myself some form of incentive to drop down and dust off plenty of ships in my port. Playing lower tiers for fun only get me so far, as while lower tiers are fun at the higher tiers is where my money and captain XP makers make their work. So a system along these lines would give most people something to work towards and hopefully have fun in the process. This has been brought up a while back now, and I don't see that many drawbacks to a system like this as it is purely a bragging rights tool and a sense of achievment. Limit it to tier 5 so you restrict sealclubbing and you should be golden. I should clarify that this is about individual ships, not the distinctive insignias that we already have (and are from tier 8 and up). So what is the general consensus on this? Is it a stupid idea, any pitfalls, improvements, a good idea or just whatever?
