  1. If I'm not completely mistaken the Massa has improved accuracy on its secondaries (something like 40% I think) so in theory it is almost as accurate base as a ship with manual secondaries. Think that is what he meant. Now despite this great base accuracy I have seen some tests and manual secondaries does boost the overall damage output and fire starting potential, and with IFHE slapped on aswell you melt anything with 27 mm plating and less (not to mention you are almost guaranteed to hit superstructures reliably). I don't own a Massa, but I would still pick manual secondaries regardless since the times where you face 2 or more ships at once in a brawl are relatively rare to when you only face 1.

    Bourgongne in Clan Battles.

We have used Borgogne a bit and it does work, but it is a bit of a risk as stated above. Lack of overmatch and armor makes it frustrating at times, but low concealment, high speed and pretty nice HE capabilites means you can still contribute even in a attrition match. Also when you do find that broadside oppurtunity it punishes things like almost no other ship in CW. If you pair it with something else like a Kremlin or Yamato and put it on a flank or use it as a deterrent/HE spammer at the start it works fairly well into Typhoon and depending on composition Hurricane.

However you can acquire large amounts of free XP stacking camos and flags on tier 7+. Also getting anywhere in the region of 20k+ free XP in a tier 7 Operation is not unheard of. Yes this is not achievable for a new player and it does require you to play somewhat regularly to get all the camos and flags you need. But after a while you don't have to spend a single dubloon on free XP. Also completing the campaigns net you quite a bit of free XP if I'm not mistaken.

Because they removed all odd tier CV's that XP number is correct. And since random games are the most lucrative, well it's time to get those grinding pants on. Bear in mind that the XP required to get to tier 10 is still similar to other classes, but because you are stuck with the same ship longer it just feels worse.

This Years Christmas Presents are a Ripoff ?

Since camos and flags are part of this game and has been for some time, ignoring them or refusing to use them is not ideal. The economic benefit is often great and the combat effectiveness of some flags for example should not be underestimated. Likewise for consumables. Putting one or two of them on your ships is very much worth it, and the credit cost is negligble.
  6. Massa has much more improved accuracy, which often outweigh the raw damage output of the Bismarck/Tirpitz. You still need to hit stuff to do damage, and the Massa is simply better in that department.
  7. Meh it was more of a curious question than an oppinion. You will find enough rewards in Squall and Gale and it seems you have more poeple coming onboard so good luck.
  8. So you don't have any requirements about ships or perhaps using some form of voice communication in a game mode that is very specific in terms of tiers and very reliant on talking to each other to both make it fun and actually get some of the juicy rewards? Well best of luck to you, see this as a friendly bump.

    ARP ships

Unless you were a fan of the ARP, the only real reward for that event was the ARP Takao. Which basically was an Atago with another camo so you could get a tier 8 premium for free (and time investment). So for me who it ment I got a bunch of ships with camos I could not change and a bunch of ships I already owned. Still for fans of the show it was nice I assume.

For the DD, I would say try to get your captain up a bit. 10 points is often ideal on tier 6+ as you gain access to concealment expert (-10% detection) which is mandatory for almost every DD in the game (and honestly most other ships aswell). The biggest reason why you need CE (concelment expert) on tier 6 apart from the obvious quality of life improvement is because you can face tier 8 ships. Tier 8 ships can fit an extra module that further lowers detection, so while you can't close the gap fully on them you can reduce it, thus improving your own survival. For the BB, well you have already realised that you can basically aim wherever on any cruiser you face, so as long as you can make your shots land on the enemy ship you are fine. On other BB's, if they angle try to aim a bit higher and hit the base of the superstructure or barbettes. Usually that leads to some damage. Dispersion wise, well welcome to BB life. Higher tiers tend to get better accuracy and more shells, but missing full salvoes at close range or just getting one overpenetration from 12 shells is not uncommon. You can mitigate this by moving closer and with proper lead and armor weakness knowledge, but they are the most RNG prone class (for better and for worse) in terms of gunnery.

What happend to "free premium consumables"?

The economy at large is very forgiving in this game, so unless you play something like a Wooster with full premium consumables those consumables barely make a difference in your income if you can pull your weight. If not, well 22k for atleast the damage control is not even an investment to speak of.

    Old NavyField player needs advice

Welcome to the forums. In general I think you are on the right track from the get go, you branch out and try different classes. That is key if you want to progress on a personal level and "git gud". Considering your low battle count I would not be too worried about being terrible or something along those lines, you are not doing to bad. Your current winrate is just below average but again that is mainly because you are new and a low sample size of games. The wiki is quite good (somewhat poorly updated when it comes to ships) but the rest of the stuff is up to date and contains plenty of info and tutorial videos, defeinetly worth checking out: https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/World_of_Warships HE or AP on BB's, well aint that a hot topic. In general, unless your BB is a Royal Navy BB or possibly French, HE should only be used against DD's or when faced with multiple bow in enemy BB's. The rest of the time AP normally does the job better. Also important in this is to learn how overmatch works. Basically if the armor thickness is less than 1/14.3 of your gun caliber you will punch through it. So if you are nose in to a Kongo for example while sailing your own Kongo you can aim at its nose and punch through it even if he tries to angle. And for the last point, stat sites. I personally use this and find it quite good: https://wows-numbers.com/player/565166214,nlegolass/ but other sites also work such as this one: https://wowstats.org/ Hope it helped a bit on your way and feel free to come back and ask further questions

    Nerf Smolensk

The only thing that I have experienced that rip apart a DD faster than a Smolensk is a Minotaur. And the Minotaur has floatier arcs and loose effectiveness once the DD starts turning away, not to mention that AP can't crit as much or set fires. So in a DD killing scenario the Smolensk is quite broken and that is a fact. Sure you can't really selfspot the DD but with all the radars, CV and other DD's that is a moot point.

Premium account for tier 8 ships?

I will disagree here because yeah 100k netto for ~7 minutes work sounds good on paper, you can easily achieve 400-500k netto in a tier 8 premium (and even tier 7 premium) for around 10-12 minutes spent in battle with the same boosters applied in randoms. So no coop is not all things considered the best place to farm credits, randoms still reign supreme in that regard.
  15. ollonborre

    Yugo Torps

Staying unspotted is key in todays meta so sacrificing range is for me a no go. Sub 10 km torps are not brilliant especially at tier 9-10 (some work but they have tools to make shorter range torps work, the IJN don't) and AR is IMO a better point investment then TA.
  16. ollonborre

1 week of prem vs 1 week of PR-ticks

Do not bother with the Dockyard or anything Puerto Rico related. Better to get that premium if you have to and get some regular grinding on.

    no MEGAGIFT container ingame?????(snowflakes)

The real rewards are the steel for tier 8-9, the rest are just filler. And last year tier 9-10 gave us steel and tier 8 basic santa crates, so nothing really changed in that sense they just moved the rewards around.
  18. ollonborre

Will you be acquiring Gorizia this event?

It is still a ball busting grind for a premium ship in what is arguably one of the weaker lines in the game. Hard pass.

    Christmas Crates Drop Rate Project

Low tier premiums are more often than not avaliable through missions, events or campaigns and gets thrown into boxes, so having a bunch of them limits the changes of receving them again. That is the reason why I atleast stockpile and keep them.
  20. It's just a case of stronk coding. I think some explanation we got was that they can't have something with an infinite expiration date (which is odd since campaigns have no dates but whatever) so they just set the date to the end of the year and reset it when the new year hits.
  21. ollonborre

    IFHE

It is good for the secondaries as it allows all of them to penetrate 32 mm of armor, a very important threshold. And since we have no idea how, when or if the IFHE change comes I say get it now anyways.
  22. ollonborre

    IFHE

It is avaliable, just not recommended (that is why it is crossed over). So it will work on the main guns and secondaries.

Help with American CA captain skills

Depending on the number of ships and looking at the map, you can often pinpoint exactly what ship is targeting you and angle effectively against the largest amount of enemies or biggest threat, if a DD is targeting you with torps (number suddenly disappears and reappears), if no one is targeting you can often freefarm or turn without risk for retaliation. So for me PT is so much more worth it than IFA which I consider fairly meh or even useless.

When will Belle Epoque be added to the Armory?

Got it, thought the Belle Epoque collection was more recent but as you say it was nearly a year ago. I clearly need more coffe...
