we need hms hood/ pride of the royal navy
mr3awsome replied to nvc65's topic in Age of Armour Warships
Hood was an Admiral class battlecruiser, and as such will be at tier 7 (or it was going to be when last mentioned) -

List it as it is in the tech tree shown at gamescon, with other ships retaining their existing tiers. e.g. move Wasp to a different tier 7 slot, with Ranger in line with Saipan and Lexington. -

True. However it is a capital ship rather than a cruiser by game categories. Alaska has to skirt in and out of range using her superior speed (an advantage of between 10 and 7 knots) to avoid taking hits because her armour scheme is so thin. The same applies to a degree to the Iowa class -
1) Wicher is a Bourrasque by a different name, in general. 3) At tier 6 its competitive. Not so at tier 7. Out gunned, outpaced and out torpedoed. 4) Gryf & Grom are designs uniquely used by the Polish Navy. Wicher is a Bourrasque in game relevant terms. It would probably be easier just to have ORP Wicher and ORP Grom as premium tier 4 and tier 6 premiums, with perhaps some percentage of the cost of the ORP Grom premium being used to help maintain ORP Blyskawica in Gdynia.

There were very few designs for battlecruisers, at least in Spring Styles Book 1 The A-150 design was excluded because it was too big. Alaska is similar to Iowa, so would probably have a similar playstyle (hold the range and pound ships from beyond their range, very fragile) The British might have something similar, and the Japanese were believed to be building something similar (which might make a nice premium) -
1) If we removed all the British or French ships from the Polish tree, there would be but ORP Gryff and ORP Grom. 2) The M class, and Medea class are tier 3 material, and OF Ouragan is too much better than the Smith or Sakura classes to go at tier 2. OF Ouragan (and the Bourrasque class in general) are tier 4 material. 4 130mm guns, reasonable light AA and 6 torpedo tubes is OP at tier 2 and 3. 3) Grom is good at tier 6, compared to the Tribal and J, K, L, M, N classes. 4) The only uniquely Polish design is the Grom class. 5) Because the first tier are shades of cruiser, and these are destroyers.

Well the North Carolina class can do everything they can do, and go faster at the same time. -

And all the super cruisers we know about so far are battleships due to their battleship sized guns. Scharnhorst has 15" gun upgrades. -

Well, I had Holland -> Blank -> Tromp -> De Ruyter -> Eendracht (as designed) -> Eendracht (as completed) Gun wise, both De Zeven Provincien and Project 1047 are above the capital ship gun limit (which is either 10" or 11" inclusive for capital ships, we aren't entirely sure on which) More details on Poolster and Gadila? Well I forgot about those, and the Poles would have them as well, so choose a mid capability format and make it premium? -

the Bismarck class was average. The Yamato class were truly something to behold, however. -

Not sure about an entire cruiser line. (Got tier 2, 4-7 in my opinion) I only know of two Dutch carriers, which are premium material. (A Nairana and a Colossus of Royal Navy fame) The Battleship designs are tier 6 (Germania design) and tier 7 (Project 1047) And only two of the destroyer classes are game worthy, given what we know about ships (Admiralen tier 4, Gerad Callenburgh tier 5) -

In the 1930s the Japanese did some studies into ships to replace the Kongou class ships when they were twenty years old. The one you mention is by Hiraga, so will probably be included as "Hiraga's Kongou Replacement" I would say that the ship would be at tier 7 following on from Modernised Kongou. It is unknown what planes CVL Ibuki will be able to carry. This site is good for paper ships. -

I know. Split the ship into the De Zeven Provincien and De Ruyter. Have the former at tier 6 and the later at tier 7. -

VI might be better, considering the lack of armour (2-3" belt compared to 4.5" for Southampton), lack of long range AA battery & comparatively smaller number of torpedo tubes compared to Southampton. -

Well the Dutch will definitely be represented in the game, just not for a while. It lacks enough designs for all tiers for each category, but it does have designs for capital ships, cruisers and destroyers. However the majority of these will be mid-low tier ships (Project 1047 being the main exception) -

No, sail ships are worthy of their own game.
