What we know about Ships: Updated 05/04/2017
mr3awsome replied to mr3awsome's topic in General Discussion
Russia is fair enough, in the public context. The Russian playerbase will love to play Russian ships more, and are more likely to pay to help them. The context surrounding the latter decision is disgusting, but private. -
Why atleast a premium RN ship is vital to release
mr3awsome replied to lethalbizzell's topic in General Discussion
How so? -
Well I'm guessing that Warspite will be in her Punto Stilo form, so she will be better than stock (4" Mk V & 6" Mk XII) but worse than elite (4.5" Mk I & III)
-
He's talking about two classes, both of which have plans. And very nice plans they are too.
-
With built cruisers you can get up to tier 8 (CL) and tier 7 (CA) with the actually built cruisers.

Well Hood is a battlecruiser, and Colorado and Nagato are battleships. Hoods major advantages will be her speed and handiness. -
Because the 30mm of Duquesne is obviously that. *Slow sarcastic clapping*

Hood has a much better belt, turrets, CT. Barbettes are about equal. Bulkheads are slightly worse. Deck protection is superior except over magazines. That torpedo hit was exceptional in terms of the damage it caused. It is an outlier. I mean how many other ships can you name that had a shaft sheared? Steering hits, not so much. -
Try to create reasonable cruiser line for the British, Italians, French, Germans and Russians then. Shouldn't be too hard to do it your way if the balance isn't murdered. Myoko doesn't have bad armour for her time though. Armour not modelled well in game. I mean look how readily cruisers damage battleships. There comes a point where a name goes from meaning something to just being a name.

Potemkin is a pre-Dreadnought line, and as its not one of the last class, is unlikelt to appear in the game. Sverdlov has a number of advantages over Chapayev, such as better protection, better FCS and the better AA you mention. As for being a tier 8, its a reasonably good bet. Cleveland is treated as an anomalous result. -

Other than being much better protected and hitting a lot harder? The Admiral class is tier 7 material. She used all her luck in getting a lucky hit on a WWI vintage (or there abouts) battle cruiser who was overdue a rebuild, then became lame after a single torpedo hit to her steering gear. All the number of hits proves is that she was well built. A target can do just as well. -
The Alaska class will come in the future, likely as part of a fast battleship line

They can get cruisers up to tier 8. You are correct about the destroyers. Battleships is relatively straight forward, given the variety of ships studied at various times. Then you get to CVs, and I know nothing. And RU devs being biased towards RU stuff (and being able to research Russian ships more easily) On the bright side, the RN tree being delayed means that WG have NO excuses for any mistakes in the RN Tree. -
The Takao class were the first to be built with the 203mm guns, so giving them the 200mm guns would be fantasy.

Neither did the Bismarck class. -
All the Japanese cruisers were upgraded from the 200mm guns to the 203mm guns. That includes Myoko. The Takaos are better. 25% more Long Lances. Pensacola needs some soft stat based love.
-
Looking forward to the rest of the pictures. Its worth mentioning that HMS Lance's gun was moved to Portsmouth sometime recently, on loan from the Imperial War Museum.
-
More guns (that have the same RPM), more health (more displacement). Putting them at tier 5 effectively murders cruiser balance (Pensacola in particular). St Louis is good, but its not "a rape machine" unless you try driving faster cruisers with torpedoes like St Louis. Myoko and Pensacola aren't overtiered, they are both perfectly tiered. Cleveland is good because its a good design, and yes, it seems better because you get Pensacola afterwards, which is one reason why Cleveland should be higher. Yes, in terms of a non-restrictive line of progression what you suggest is fine, but this is a restricted line of progression, so lines have to be drawn. Northampton is not that much better than Pensacola. Its not worth a tier jump for it. Portland moreso, but still not enough. The Myokos not getting the Long Lances whilst the Mogamis do would be like the Pennsylvania getting its 5"/38s, but the North Carolinas not. Doesn't really make sense, and is kinda dumb. The Mogamis are 1 knot faster than the Takaos as CAs, but have inferior protection on the whole (weaker barbettes, unarmoured CT, weaker deck armour over vital components). The Takaos are a match on every other front, and the additional protection more than makes up for that 1 extra knot of speed. The Sendais have the same protection scheme as the Kumas. They also have about the same amount of AA. The Kumas also had seaplanes. All that Sendai has better is the torpedoes, which isn't really worth a tier jump. Yuubari has equal broadside to the Kumas, in terms of both guns and torpedoes (but the torpedoes have the rapid reload system so the reload would be faster). Speed is about the same. Overall, its good enough for tier 4. Better than stock, worse than elite. Aviation cruisers are not seaplane tenders (Compare Chitose as built and Nisshin, for example)
-
I'd say the German version of the Eendrachts would be better at tier 6 rather than 7. Fighting 10, 12 & 15 gun cruisers with 8 isn't going to be any fun.

QE is probably going to be tier 6. Yamato was in the water before Bismarck was comissioned. Yamato & Musashi are the biggest battleships ever built. Bismarck is a blend of modern and obsolete features, which makes her very interesting to study. -

Last we heard: - It will only be IJN & USN with regular ships at launch, but the Germans, Russians and Brits will have premiums available. - The Russians will come ~6 months after release - The Germans will come after that - The Royal Navy will come after that. The timings might not be right, but I'm afraid the order is. -

WG mentioned before that they hope to have premiums from the IJN, USN, RN, Soviets and Germans available at release. -

But is it more than the Brits, the Australians, the New Zealanders, the Canadians, the Poles, the Norweigians, the Dutch, the Portugeuse, the Spanish, the former-Yugoslavians, the Greeks, the Turks, the Indians, the Pakistanis, the Egyptians and the Israelis that all have strong links to the Royal Navy tree?
