[Suggestion] HMS Caroline - The Battle of Jutland (update: something seems to be brewing)
mr3awsome replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
ACTUALLY: Inside the attrium to the new 36 hours: Jutland 1916 exhibition in Portsmouth there is a fancy little thing by Wargaming where you can view a model of the ship using your smartphone or tablet.- 157 replies

It was brought up in 1910, but the First Sea Lord, Arthur Wilson, did nothing/cancelled the planned trials.
-
The length of the documentary probably limited its content. Given the size of the battle, its quite hard to find anything new to say at this point, so it not giving a blow by blow account of the battle is fair enough. There are plenty already.
-
Blyskawica is already in her 1940 setup.
-
Well they have less powerful hoist motors, so a lower RoF (8rpm). Plus an easier to hit citadel and greater vulnerability to planes.
-
In multiple pieces of literature its referred to as the Atago class.
-
Yes.

Kaiser is more likely to be tier IV, with Konig being the tier V. Derrflinger is also more of a V.

What we know about Ships: Updated 05/04/2017
mr3awsome replied to mr3awsome's topic in General Discussion
They should do. But they probably won't. Pensacola and Omaha are the same, but they do fine dispersion wise. Its almost like theres an aspect of systematic bias. -
Why stop at tier 4? There is always B-41 to be the tier 3 battle-cruiser. Think Myougi, but with 12"/50s. In some documents both the KGV class and Vanguard are referred to as "fully armoured battle-cruisers" A-48 matches the description you provide. For the tier V, either A-49 or A-50 could work, each having one fewer 14" turret, making the same style of 10->12 gun progression as the USN.

Except that Hull B of Karlsruhe is literally the last eight Coln (ii) class ships, but with the single torpedo tubes doubled.
-
It wasn't the hole so much as the area inside the hull around the hull needed to store and launch the torpedo. A large, undivided area, which is not advantageous when it comes to flooding.
-
No, it just means that the Russians didn't take care of the most powerful battleship they ever operated. Not to mention her better maintained sisters had already gone to the breakers by that point.

PROPOSAL: Full German Capital Ships Line (BB/BC)

Not even that, as the Karlsruhe in game represents the Konigsberg (ii) and Coln (ii) classes, the first of which weren't finished until after Jutland.

Most cruisers did.

The good news is that it seems that you don't have to sink the boss to pass. Just keep hitting it.
-
Konigsberg & Nurnberg's buddy would be Leipzig.
-
By and large, they have have well spaced guns, so dispersion should be low.

Battlecruisers weren't proven flawed due to lack of armour. One can argue that they weren't proved flawed at all. And yes, they could chase cruisers, as Spee's experience showed. And they suffered against big guns, because that is what big guns do. Battleships suffered the same, but were much less involved in the action, as a whole. Same main armament, but greater range. Fewer secondaries, but ones that are drier, and can work in almost all weathers as a result. A belt that protects as well as the QEs. Thicker barbettes. More deck armour. Hood outclasses all but about 9 battleships up for a long time. (That being the Big Seven and the Tennessees) She was originally planned to go in in 1938, but Abyssinian Crisis precluded such. Later events meant that the later date of 1941/42 was also untenable. Its just outside the range where it would hit her belt rather than deck. Couple of minutes or so.
-
Hood did a lot of peacetime service, and was known across the globe for it. Hood didn't actually sink because of any innate battle-cruiser flaw, she sank because of poor deck armour, an issue that was known, but nothing was done prior due to the fact that prior to the commissioning of the new battleships of the late 1930s, she was one of the most powerful warships afloat. On the contrary, Hood was probably the most useful ship in the RN prior to the KGVs (Capital ships, anyway). They could do this because there was peace, and little sign of any sudden escalation. We'll be lucky to get Campbeltown for our birthdays

PROPOSAL: Full German Capital Ships Line (BB/BC)
mr3awsome replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in Battleships
Well we've seen Kaiser in one of the videos, being rendered, so that fills in the tier IV slot. As we know Bismarck has also been tested, I would guess the following: Nassau Kaiser Konig Bayern Scharnhorst Bismarck H-39 H-41 Plus, Mackensen and ersatz Yorck are more tiers VI and VII respectively. -
The RN can field CAs from tier 4 to tier 10. Not even the USN can match that. The USN is quite top heavy when it comes to cruisers.

We aren't going to know for a while, because RN CLs are coming first.
