Up to Neptune I had major success with Leander, Fiji and Eddy. Today I spent the entire day in the driving Neptune, for the first time. It was so horrible at the start, to the point that I considered quitting the line. The concealment on that thing is one thing...but its maneuverability is atrocious, it handles like a brick and its HORRIBLE de-acceleration got me killed several times because it caught me off guard. I thought its going to be the same game-play experience like Eddy but its nowhere near it. Its incredible really, this is the only ship that 5 second after I fire, half of the enemy team stops what their doing and suddenly I get 5-6 guns pointed at me. I got deleted so many times by BBs with seemingly rail-gun accuracy at 15km+ while stern/bow side that I thought the ship is bugged. I freaking hate JBs with passion, both as a CV player and now as Cruiser. There are so many deadly BBs at tier IX-X that one mistake and your back at port. After a 5 loss streak I took a break and did something else. Came back now and tried hugging Islands and cover like dear life and I managed to actually carry 2 games and now finished the night with 5 win streak. Honestly Neptune was the 2nd big slap in the face after Emerald in the RN CL tree.

I'm not sure if this is where to post this thread, so please move it if it doesn't belong here. I completed all 4 twitch missions for the EU crates but I didn't get the flag that is awarded for it. Did I miss any other requirements? did anyone get this flag after completing the twitch EU missions?

If you complete all 4 of them you also get a flag with a cat, that's what I remember at least. -
I'm gaming for 17+ years....I'm well aware of "3rd party selling services", but that's usually found in MMO-RPGS to sell in-game currency and levels/boosts. I never heard of people paying IRL money to boost their account stats, the closest thing I know is people buying accounts from other players for IRL money, but again, never seen such thing in games like WoT or WoWs.

What is the base torp speed on GZ?
-
I prefer Last gasp + improved engine boost over TA, I don't see the point of it on IJN Carriers. I upgraded all 3 planes, every bit of speed and HP helps at tier X, the slightly longer re spawn timer won't make a difference. My IJN carrier build is: AS, IE, AA, SE, CE, LG, IEB, SS. In that order.

I was just like you, also asking for advice about RN cruisers around a month ago , you can even see my thread 7-8 lines below on the 1st page in this sub-forum. They take time to getting used to, but once you play to their strengths and work around their weaknesses they are extremely rewarding. I just unlocked Neptune a while ago and I can't wait to get to Mino.

RN CL has one big advantage over all other cruisers in the game. Their detection distance. Leander with camo + CE drops her detection range to 9km. This means you out-spot all non-DD ships in the game, and the terms of engagement are always in your hands when going against BBs and Cruisers. Use this distance to escort DDs to cap and help them contest it, if things go hot use smoke.Try to never go below 9km range unless your 1v1 a cruiser ,DD or trying to secure a kill, so you can always go dark if things go hairy, getting below 9km detection range with Leander when facing a BB is usually a death sentence. Use the minimap to determine where the enemy BBs are. Effective range of 152mm RN CL is generally, 10-11km, its not worth firing further than 11.5 km unless your trying to finish someone off. Again with detection, use this to determine when to open fire on a target or not. If a cruiser exposes broadside then open fire, if its bow in and it has back up then don't, or get into a kiting position first. The heal on RN cruisers allow them to easily brawl with other cruisers and shrug off HE damage, their biggest weakness is BBs. For battleships, never open fire against them if: 1) Your the only target in their sight 2) They are not close to death 3) You have no smoke available 4) They are bow-in Do open fire on BBs when: 1) They are busy shooting your allies 2) They are broadside to you 3) They are close to death 4) They just fired their full salvo and their turrets are faced away from your direction 5) Denying objectives to ensure victory 6) You have smoke available and a friendly ship to spot for you

What is the real advantage of Saipan over lexington?
steveraptor replied to steveraptor's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Rockets deal same damage. Torps deal same damage, saipan drops +1 of them, Lexington drops 6 bombs that do more damage in total than 4 damage from Saipan. Only advantage you get is +1 torpedo on drop, and you pay for that with huge penalties. -
Opinion: Perhaps CV should be allowed in KotS/Tournaments?
steveraptor posted a topic in General Discussion
Hi, Please do not crucify me for this, I know how hated are CVs are in this forum. I'm a fairly new player to WOWs, only recently got above 1k random matches, and today I watched my first KotS tournament in hoping to learn a bit more about high-level play. What I got instead was one of the most boring competitive tournament I ever watched in competitive gaming. Except few CIS games, nearly all games were exactly the same: Solo Cruisers camping behind islands, BBs sitting near spawns and sniping at max range, DDs trying to snag points and spam torps at camping cruisers and everyone chipping at each other until someone attempts a push, gets citadeled, rinse and repeat. It was impossible to notice good players, strategy or any big plays because the games were extremely static and boring to watch. Honestly that tournament showed why CVs are needed in this game. CVs are the embodiment of anti-passive, anti-static game play. They greatly punish island campers, teams that play passive and camp, they encourage teams to change their play style and play more actively and move/push in groups, rather then put a stalingrad/moskva/de-moines behind every island and play sniper elite. In general the presence of CVs encourage more active gameplay and discourage this static bore-fest that is this tournament. I think that CVs should be allowed to participate in tournaments.- 24 replies

Exactly why I understand very well how influential CVs are in game, and I also understand how to play against them. I also play UK Light cruisers in addition to CVs. And if my assessments are wrong, then you are welcome to write why. -
What is the real advantage of Saipan over lexington?
steveraptor replied to steveraptor's topic in Aircraft Carriers
Yeah...But the "Slightly different planes" come with a huge drawback attached to them with seemingly no strong points to compensate. US T-X bring nothing new to the table mostly, compared to the big jump of IJN tier 8 to tier 10 planes for example. Midway main difference from Lexington is not that its planes mostly don't do more damage, but there are more of them in attack runs. Saipans firepower is equal or worse than Lexington while having huge drawbacks attached. -

Never managed to citadel a JB, when do you release the bombs and where do you aim at? Also which CV are you talking about? -

What is your experience with US tier 9-10 BBs and French 9-10 BBs with Hak? -

I was referring to Shokaku, I only recently got my hands on Hak so I don't have a full experience on those AP bombs. What about Republique, JB, and Alsake? Also, do we have any numbers on AP bombs in general? -

I never managed to Citadel french BBs of tier 8 and above, neither in randoms or training rooms. US tier 7 or 8 BB+, same story. -
All worked for me, Thanks! Also, what happens when you complete the collection and still open those chests? what do you do with all the duplicates?

I'm disappointed that Tier 8 CVs aren't part of the bundles, was really hoping to try GZ and Saipan.

Why ships were not designed with a 360 rotation turrets?
steveraptor posted a topic in General Discussion
It just baffles me, why nearly all ships (Except some German cruisers) were designed that turrets can't rotate 360? it is such a disadvantage in combat that you can't quickly change attack directions when needed, the turrets need to rotate all the way around when when you switch aim to the other side. Take a look at Kirov's rear turret for example, it has a very long and empty stern, yet the turret is jammed so close to the superstructure that it can't turn 360, what was the problem to move it slightly backward and allow it to turn at 360 degrees? -
