I couldn't stand Kirov but Budyonny smooths out most of the flaws. I honestly think Kirov is a horrible, horrible ship. Everyone knows about the paper armor and long hull and overall vulnerability to everything, but how would you like to play a sniper type of ship that has slow shells? That's the cherry on top, and it's something Budyonny improves as well.

I grinded Kirov and Caledon. Ugggghhhh. If it shoots like a mortar at 11km, I don't want to see what the trajectory will be like on the later ones.

This upcoming event reminded me of the Mann vs. Machine mode in Team Fortress 2, and how much fun I had with it on release. For those who don't know, this was (is?) a pay-to-play mode (though you could trade for the tickets to play it) which consisted of a series of tough challenges against bots, requiring good teamwork or just lots of trial-and-error. It was mostly a defend-the-base kind of playstyle with fixed waves of enemies. Redeeming a ticket would give you permanent access to the next mission until you beat it, and when you beat five of them you got a semi-random piece of exclusive loot. I think something like this could work in WoWs, though something would have to be done to make it more complex than ''focus one ship at a time''. Maybe the bots could have special traits, maybe there could be sub-objectives like defending forts or other bots, map bottlenecks, mass bomber attack events, things like that. Plenty of possibilities, and I think the game has an active PVE community already even though it is pretty bland and unrewarding. Of course, TF2 has the advantage that you can trade away your loot if you want something else, or even sell it. But exclusive ships could lure in even the dedicated pvpers.

Sounds awesome, hope we get it soon. In fact, why hasn't it launched already in this region?

I can't do it, m80s. Ever ship I've picked up recently: Kongo, Texas, Cleveland, Kaiser, Svietlana I've done well enough with. Kirov though, seems hellbent on punishing me for ever turning (which, let's face it, has to happen at some point). We're talking single BB shells taking off at least 1/4 health. without even hitting the citadel. It's like the only way this can ever work is if you point your bow at the enemy at 16km and sit there taking pot shots. Even then, any APs that land on the bow will go straight through the ship. I'm definitely getting rid of this junk pile as soon as I reach T6 but I'd like to know if Budyonny at least plays differently thanks to the better armor. The WG video said that the bow armor on the Budy is better, and I'm hoping you can at least bounce some shells with angling the citadel armor. Right now I feel like RN minus wasdhax, smoke or repair.

Container statistics - looking for players for data collecting
MoveZig replied to martin_hill's topic in General Discussion
11x TYL so far, all garbage except some of the XP signals. So is that TYL container intrinsically inferior to other ones, or can it contain anything good? -
Well the Budy promises to fix a lot. More than twice the armor thickness, better turning, better shell speed, more concealment, better HE performance. Shchors just looks like it brings back the Kirov's flaws with a vengeance, without the good AA, and it just seems to get worse from there. How do the later ones play differently?

Game is boring below tier 5...at least for me...isn´t it a problem for WG?
MoveZig replied to Kamikazesushi's topic in General Discussion
Below t4 is really vanilla because of the lack of airpower and consumables that help make the ship types what they are, nor as the modifications (Plotting Room, etc) to customize your ship a bit. BBs are mostly the same at t3, and many cruisers don't yet get torps. There's just not much reason to play low tiers once you grind past them, which is a shame. I guess WG see it as a sort of kiddie pool where newbs play against each other and no one else bothers except maybe when there's a new line. -
The update system is extremely overbearing and lacks any kind of user control. I'd say that's a huge flaw. Anyway, I've only ever playedit on W10 and the only issue I can think of is the microstutters when clicking things in port (which could be my connection). But yeah, as above, make sure graphics drivers are up to date, some games will chug if you're using an outdated version.

What I want to know is whether all these people beelining for the big lootz will affect individual win chances. In other words, is the supply of premium/doubloon prizes limited or not?
-
*sigh* I was hoping Ishizuchi would go on sale but no, I guess Japan will be the one country that only gets one premium ship discount this month.
-
Feels like the announcement for tomorrow is overdue. Which premiums are going on sale?
-
I wasn't being sarcastic, just asking since I'm not familiar with them.

Don't German CLs have hard-to-hit citadels below the waterline? How does that work out for them?

The most important skills to be a good player.
MoveZig replied to xenopathia's topic in General Discussion
You can get away with poor tactical awareness if you play your ship to its strengths. The other way around doesn't help as much, you still have to be an effective combatant. The most important skill of all is wasdhaxing. You really won't get far in the game unless you learn to change speed and heading frequently to make yourself a hard target, while still angling the best you can. -
Is there any more after the 436MB?

Concealment expert or Survivability expert for US DDs?
MoveZig replied to Blixies's topic in General Discussion
All those 5 CE points go to waste if some CV just hovers one of his several squadrons over you. -
What's the best way to back up the game and restore it if something goes wrong or if I want to install on a new computer? Can I just copy-paste the files from the directory? How would I use them to cut down download time in a new installation?

I have little to no interest in high-tier ships with possible exception being Gneis. I don't see the point, they're not cooler than lower-tier ships, they have painful stock grinds and they actually cost credits to operate. So supercontainers for me, since creds will not be an issue and my approach to the game isn't competitive enough that i'd jump for premium consumables or signals. Even Free XP isn't much good if you already have everything you want, but I suppose new line additions may prevent that. One other thing that could appeal to me is exclusive camos or vanity stuff, like in WT, but not at the expense of rolling for a prem/dubloons. As for my ''strategy'', just grind as much as I can stomach each day, No more than the second milestone though, and even that will be painful with lower-tier non-premiums.
-
Do all premiums earn the same as non-premiums of the same ship +30% from the camo, or does it vary depending on the ship? E.g. Mikasa is twice as expensive as Tachibana, shouldn't it be better for grinding? Not that I'd get it, since it can't do missions, but it'd help to know. I'm especially interested in Ishizuchi and mid tiers, do they all earn tier rewards + 30%, with minimal repair costs?
-
I can understand the appeal of co-op sometimes, it's a more chill mode where you can't be frustrated or disappointed by the MM or teammates, or the luck factor. It's also a place to grind modules if you feel too handicapped playing a stock ship, or to warm up before playing randoms (although then you waste your 50% or 100% daily, which sucks).

I'd say their mistake was not waiting for a discount. You know how it is with PC gaming, never buy full price unless you wouldn't mind seeing it discounted tomorrow. Unless you have money to burn, of course.
-
Has the Ishi gotten a buff to its armor? The ingame overlay doesn't agree with what I keep reading that its armor is weak. It looks not much worse than Wyoming. I'm definitely getting this ship if it goes on sale for the IJN weekend. If not,and the t5 USSR prems don't go on sale either, maybe I'll end up saving for the Dunk for Christmas. But t7 is really unreasonably expensive. You can get several good games for the same price as what appears to be a Gneisenau with some differences.

If the only films you're aware of were Epic Movie and Barb Wire, you'd hate cinema. I suspect it's like this for people who hate all anime. There's way too much variety that you wouldn't find something you liked, unless you hate the artstyle for whatever reason, and not even that is uniform.
