Currently Japanese DDs are all torp-focused, however this should change soon as a new supposedly gun-focused branch is released, with Minekaze and Hatsu followed by two new ones. It's also possible that existing torps will be nerfed, but it's hard to find any information on what changes are coming. Apart from them, t7 and above USN DDs also have good torpedo ability along with excellent fire-setting ability. Most USSR DDs have to get into suicide range to use torps, and are clearly gun-focused, especially from t7. Some DDs of all main nations can stealth-fire at maximum range with the appropriate skills/upgrades (AFT/Concealment Expert/concealment mod on higher tiers). Stealth becomes much more difficult at high tiers as most cruisers will have radar and there will sometimes be lots of planes flying around.

Kirov. You can do well with it, but that will be despite the ship, not thanks to it. It's a sniper that has slow shells. It's almost a BB-sized ship with paper armor that gets citadeled from every direction. Are you agile enough to turn around from unfavorable engagements? Ha, no. Wanna use those 2 front turrets to go bow-on? Well, the citadel is no tougher from the front, same glorious 50mm. Budyonny changes a lot of things for the better, but first you have to get through this monstrosity. iirc AMX-40. Wouldn't be a bad tank if it could actually use its armor to consistently bounce small low-tier guns in low-tier matches. Instead I often got uptiered where the armor does nothing.

Since I mainly care about EXP right now, especially captain XP and FXP, I think the Signals option may be best on average. Wish we had concrete information on how much higher the TYL chance for a supercontainer is.

Information seems sparse, but maybe someone who's been keeping up with the news and has access to the test server can shed some light. Since Minekaze will be the first in the ''gunboat'' branch, will it be made more gunboaty? I mean, I keep reading it's all about torps, much the same as all the other existing DDs in the line. What about the new DDs, what will their characteristics be? Will they be USSR-levels of gunboat focus, or more like upper-tier USN hybrid playstyle?

Not everyone wants to play ranked. I've been waiting for weeks now to get any of the t4 or t5 prems at 50% in order to have a good credit & FXP grinder, as well as an interesting ship that's different from the tech tree. But no way I'd pay 20 bucks or more for one vehicle in one game. -

Historical arguments don't hold much water in an arcadey game like this. There do exist super-involved strategy games that model vehicles accurately. They are slow and have a huge learning curve and a very niche playerbase. They are not WoWS. -

Not just today, I've also seen entirely wrong account information on this site. Like, premium time and gold that I don't have. Reminds me of the time Steam's servers got screwed. Just now, a new 1-post account made the exact same post as one of mine. Weird stuff, hope it doesn't lead to a security breach.

Huh, that's my comment from days ago. Come to think of it, my account status on the upper-right of the page sometimes shows the wrong amount premium time/gold/doubloons. What kind of weirdness is this? Better change my PW.

Cleve and I have never really gotten along, but Budy has treated me well. Those shell ballistics are unsuitable for long-range shooting. Budy has both great range and fast shells. -
I'm fine with this, even though I would never buy that camo at that price when I could get multiple games instead. In principle, a F2P game should encourage players to spend money in order to shorten a grind, or get cosmetic items, or whatever else that doesn't mess with the balance in PVP. Such is the case here. You can play T10, you're not locked out of it. By that point, you already have a ship of the level you need to do any mission. You can play at a loss of credits, or you can grind t5/t6 matches to fund your t10 gameplay. And none of this affects the balance, especially with the new economy. If there's one thing that's iffy about the microtransactions, it's the premium consumables, but since you can get them for credits it again comes down to just having a longer grind as F2P. Which is how a F2P should be doing microtransactions. Paying players finance the game, F2Pers form the backbone of the community by having to be more active to achieve the same things.

I think the rewards encourage selfish behavior. Blades rush the circle because they don't expect to stick around to the end of the match; people leave the fleet to go hunt the BBs that spawn behind; and people ignore catapults because they don't count towards the challenges. If you just had rewards for winning, players wouldn't be opportunistic. There'd still be trolls and idiots, but both would give up after a while.- 32 replies

Question: are they less fragile after Emerald, because of the less exposed citadel? this is what makes 3-5 miserable, being vulnerable to cits even from some HE shells. Ridiculous.

Well from t5 they're almost as big as a Shinyhorse, but in terms of detection they're not particularly bad until t9, except the Kirov.

Yes, of course. I plan to farm lots more. Good for credits, good for all kinds of XP. It's a generous event, I must say, I just wish there was more variety.

Tip for Igors: Enemy ships use their Damage Repair once they have two fires on them, no more no less (though I'm sure flooding counts too). Like with players, it lasts a few seconds. So in some cases it can be worth it to shoot a non-focus target just to put one fire on it, especially Rasputin when it spawns. Good for racking up damage. Be sure to hit the superstructure, not the armor belt.

Got my first supercontainer today, after about 15 TYL. 500 doubloons, can't complain. -
Ugghh, practically every DD in this mode rushes the circle at the start, making sure Trans will lose 20% HP within the first minute. If you lose this mode, chances are it was because of potato Blade players.
