Competitive real-time games put a lot of emphasis on visual and audio queues, they not only have to give immediate feedback to the player about what's happening but also to reward the player with something satisfying for their accomplishments. There's a reason why every COD has a sound effect specifically for headshot kills, along with meaty and satisfying sound effects for just about everything - it's an immediate audio treat to the player for doing well. WoWS uses the same concept. Kill a ship, watch it blow up and get an awesome sound effect. That said, it's a bit silly for flooding. Also, I'd be more interested in a rework of the rudimentary ramming system than just changing the graphics.

I actually expected it for 6.6. I fully expect it in 6.7, most certainly this year anyway. I'm more interested to hear what the other lines will be, RN BBs are in the bag already.

Upcoming PVE will be available only for doubloons !?!
MoveZig replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
It depends on a few factors, particularly how much you can earn and whether you get decent rewards if you lose. What I'm hoping for is a mode that can be used to chill out from the stress of PVP, while still earning a decent amount every time you play. Which doesn't have to be a constant, mind-numbing grind like in co-op. I could live with the cooldown as long as the rewards are sufficient and the gameplay is fun. -
On what USN ship are you having your "Steven Seagal" captain?
MoveZig replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
His skills pretty clearly dispose him towards t5 and t6 BBs, where he can make the most difference in the awful traverse speed and long reloads. I'm getting Colorado today, looking forward to 36s traverse and freeing up that second slot for something else. -
Go play them, get better results, then we'll talk. I main DD but have picked up BBs pretty recently. I get better performance out of BBs. They are much more reliable performers, you don't get deleted quickly if you're paying attention. Something that can't be said of DDs. I put out more damage too. DDs have a few advantages that don't necessarily show in the stats, but high damage output does not happen in a torp DD unless you get lucky or are very, very good. Also, NY sucks but US dreads are some of the last ships that should be complaining about torps. Agility and torp protection make them some of the most torp-resistant BBs.

The t4 is cool, the guns are almost pointless but you launch torps every few seconds. The t5 is generally disliked for being good at very few things besides the good torps. T6 changes drastically and settles into the playstyle of the rest of the line. You get hydro, which only 1 other DD in the game gets, the torps are generally good if not as spammy as IJN, and the guns are much better than the 105mms you've seen. They fly a bit straighter, with better range and have good DPM, if not on par with US. T6 and 8 get 150mm guns, which handle similar to USSR guns but with better alpha, penetration and AP damage. Overall, from t6 the DDs are meant to be good anti-DD brawlers (except vs. USA) thanks to a high ROF, hydro and lots of HP. You'll learn to use smoke + hydro, a powerful combo for capping and brawling. And the torps are fast and stealthy, which is what you're supposed to use against big ships. What they suffer against is cruiser-caliber AP shells, which often full-pen rather than overpen, and do lots of damage. The AA defenses are horrible and these are some of the most vulnerable DDs to bombers. It's a different playstyle that rewards aggression vs. DDs and caution vs. larger ships. Oh yeah, Concealment Expert is absolutely mandatory as on all other DDs barring maybe USSR gunboats. You can hardly stealth torp without it, especially on t6.

4 containers opened and I'm already holding 3 duplicates. Pretty sure the drops are skewed.

I so hope Foch is coming to WoWs, we need CC's like him around!

It's weird to see Sterling talking about Wargaming but here we are. And he's right, copyright strikes for petty reasons are normally the domain of bottom-of-the-barrel Steam Greenlight asset-flipping bedroom programmers. Quite shocking to see from one of the biggest gaming companies. Have they pulled stuff like this on the Russian-speaking community, by any chance,or is this the first offense?- 217 replies

Is it just me or once you have gotten every container from the campaign, if you haven't completed the collection you have to buy more from the store? Please don't tell me WG is so greedy and cynical. Oh, and my very first container had duplicate badges. What are the odds, huh?
-
No, even if I wanted it and didn't scoff at the price, I only buy ships with doubloons.

Sod the Hood! The test stats for HMS Gallant are out

Is this gon be a premium or are RN DDs coming out next? -
Is it just me or is every game out there trying to do a 2.0?
MoveZig replied to KarmaQU_EU's topic in Off-Topic
WOW had its 2.0 in 2010, and as much as I love the Cataclysm content, the streamlining has basically taken the first M out of MMORPG and the ''world'' out of World of Warcraft.. When I stopped playing in MoP, it felt more like Instance Hub of Warcraft. It wasn't half-assed by any means, it was a complete overhaul, but in the process of making the game more convenient, they took out all the rough edges that used to add immersion, and also killed the community aspect of the game. It also became far too easy and tedious, right up to endgame heroic content. That's when player numbers began declining, they'd only risen up to the launch of Cata. I wish WoW hadn't modernized, it would feel like a bit of a dinosaur compared to modern games but it would also retain a lot more of its veterans. -
It was okay, I guess. It's the MAC-10 of its tier, a real bullet-hose but you need to get close to use that low-caliber AP properly. Long-range, stick with the bad HE and hope for fires. The turret arrangement means you can run away and still shoot most guns. Which works out better than Kirov, less likely to get citted despite similarly awful armor.
-
Why were you AFK at the start of the game? (assuming you were)
MoveZig replied to SomeoneYouKnow2's topic in General Discussion
This rarely happens but loading never takes quite that long (might end around when the match starts though). Most likely I had to sort something out IRL, but of course I do try to do that before playing. -
Will this be meant as a permanent mode viable for grinding, or a seasonal/event thing, or something else?
-
WG, could you please take a look at Texas + Colorado?
MoveZig replied to Mr_Burke's topic in General Discussion
One of the turrets is unusueable on NY unless you broadside. It gets a better arc of fire on Texas. -
Not sure why you can't buy ships, what does it say on the upper right of the modules list of the ship you want? ''Research'' or ''purchase''? You can buy consumables for credits. Click the drop-down arrow where it shows the doubloon price, and select credits instead.

It looks great for self-defense, at least the mid-and short range. Which is why I'd go with AFT over MFCAA. The ''long-range'' (at 4.2km) AA is barely over half the DPS of a Bayern's, which is why I scoff at MFCAA on Colo. Not that I would be broadsiding if I could help it but from what I understand (and am seeing on New Mexico), t6 and t7 have that all-or-nothing-armor scheme with thick main belt and deck armor, but no armor elsewhere, as well as German-like citadel height, which is great. So you die a death by a thousand cuts rather than getting spectacularly citted like a Nagato would. At least, if I were brawling against a Colo, I'd aim for that big upper plate that has 25mm, or the fore or end armor. Just not the thick main belt which is unlikely to result in a cit anyway because it's almost below the waterline.
-
Well the only difference from an AA build (barring MFCAA, which is kinda dubious on Colo) would be the second mod, being either AA or secondary. I guess I'll play it and decide based on how often I get run down by Bismarcks and focused by CVs.
-
I'm aiming for Colorado, is there any merit in a partial secondary build (BFT, AFT, secondary mod) to help counter secondary-specced BBs like Gneis/Bis etc.? I don't like to snipe with US BBs, I close to mid range but of course that increases vulnerability to things that brawl and are much faster. My build would be: PM EM, AR, JoAT, HA BFT, BoS AFT Aux Mod Secondary mod Damage Control mod Steering mod I don't believe in CE for the dreadnoughts, it defeats the purpose of a tanky BB with superior repair and damage control. And anyway, if there's even a single plane squadron spotting you, it's a total waste. Plus you don't have the speed to dictate the range of the engagement, if the enemy closes in you lose the benefits.
-
It sucks for destroyers too. No one likes shooting at an agile little **** that can disengage whenever it wants. And I say that as a DD main. I'd put up with 20s longer MM if it meant a 3 DD cap per side.

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
MoveZig replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Spotted havaduck in Fault Line in the early hours yesterday. Very close game, enemy was up to 998 when we got the last cap and went on to win. -
Here's the problems I have with the report system: - ''Poor Play?'' What is that supposed to mean and why is there an option to report it? What are WG supposed to do about broadsiding, spotter-using Emeralds? - ''Bot'' - It would be helpful to know what a bot is and what WG's approach to afking is. Because that's what I use this option for, though I don't know if it's even punishable, or if ''botting'' means something else. is it something players can even recognize ingame without software and technical knowledge? As for karma, I don't care and I don't pay attention it. Most players don't even know it exists.

I can think of very few reasons to even get a t10, let alone play it: - Better chance of doing stage 4 and 5 of missions. - More EXP (at the expense of creds). - Maybe WG will give you some dragon flags at the anniversary of the game's launch like last year. - You are always top-tier. Cold comfort if you care about credits.
