4 stars are pretty easy, 5 stars takes some teamwork. You have to push hard to kill the CVs after the convoy gets moving. It helps to have 1-2 DDs rush the north CVs before even saving the convoy, and then head east to spot the last CV, which the entire team will nuke. And like the last one, CVs are great for spotting and sniping the CVs while countering the biggest threat to the convoy - the torp bombers.

It's not about trust, Valve seem to want to automate everything and only ever act when money is on the line. No quality assurance, no protection from scamming douchebag devs, abysmal technical support. Their presence rejuvenated the PC gaming market 10 years ago, now they're turning into Skynet. At least WG aren't a monopoly and as the SirFoch scandal shows, they care about maintaining a good name. Valve have basically pissed it all away by letting their service be associated with shovelware, scamware and downright abandoned, unfinished products the past few years. Their answer? More automation. God forbid they actually assign someone to make sure broken trash doesn't get through to publication on their service.

I like this week's op a lot more. - Bots feel way easier to hit and kill. They're softer and you're not always shooting at bad angles. Also, they don't seem to dodge as unpredictably. - The objectives are easy and forgiving. If the Shchors dies, just go over to the wreck and you won't lose a star. Compare that the last mission where even one ship getting through costs you 2 stars afaik, and makes the rest of the mission harder. And that Koku-bokan? Just forget it, that's one star you can write off if it appears. - It's kind of hard to actually lose. When my team only had 2 people after saving the convoy I thought it was all over but actually we got every ship through and 4-starred the mission, missing only the CV objective. The hardest part is killing the CVs, if only because it requires good positioning. Ironically, the most likely way to fail this is the convoy arriving too soon and ending the mission before you can kill the last CV. This is where you need coordination to nuke it before that happens.

I'm not sure what's supposed to be particularly garbage about it other than the traverse speed and AP trajectory. It's no Emerald, you don't get citted by any glancing 100mm shell. Hell, it actually has a higher RoF than Hipper at t8, and with better MM. If anything, I'd think the German HE buff would be particularly kind to Yorck, though I haven't tried it.

How can I increase my maximum Free XP gain from a battle?
MoveZig replied to aidenthedestroyer's topic in Newcomers' Section
Get Anshan. It gets 2x FXP on top of the 50% bonus EXP. Then wait for the big 200% dailies on VE-day and Christmas to blow all your boosters: - Premium account - Ouroboros Signal - Papa Papa signal - ES Charlie London signal - Hydra signal - Red Dragon signal And pray you get a good win rather than getting blown up in the first few minutes. It's a good ship too, decent guns and torps for t6, pretty fast and stealthy. Costs about 10 euros on sale, being the cheapest t6 prem. You can more than double your FXP gains compared to non-prem t6, so highly recommended. Besides that, all you can do is play higher-tier ships, git gud and save your boosters for big daily bonuses, esp. 200%. -
WG breaks its own rules, admits this cheat, and support trolls offer no support

Can anyone confirm that maintenance started earlier than usual on Thursday? Either they really did go against their own schedule, or someone screwed up the announcement again, as they are wont to do on EU. Or the times line up and the OP is trolling. -
Tempted to use my free xp on module upgrades... But!
MoveZig replied to hgbn_dk's topic in General Discussion
Don't do it m8, FXP is too sacred to be looked at, let alone spent. Hoard it like you have OCD, you'll thank me later when you have multiple FXP prems to choose from. Probably. If WG get around to it. -
PVE Scenarios (S1): Which ships for which missions?
MoveZig replied to Sams_Baneblade's topic in General Discussion
The only ships that get screwed being t5 are the CVs because of that stellar and completely sensible change in mechanics we've had recently. -
The 5m cruiser ones, sure. On BBs, I'll wait until I think torps are coming. That said, you can make an argument for waiting to launch CA fighters as well, until the enemy CV has committed to an attack against or near you. That'll throw him off, maybe mess up his drop if lucky.

If you're willing to start a new account with a referral, you could get Diana and Texas premiums. Diana is necessarily a brawler because of awful shell arcs, it's tough for a cruiser but pretty slow. Texas is a mid-range battleship with amazing AA but absolutely not a brawler because of weak secondary guns and horrible weakpoints in the armor.

Is this a bug or it's supposed to be this way?
MoveZig replied to HipHopHippopotamus's topic in General Discussion
On another note, I find it weird that this wargame has more realistic collision physics for underwater rocks than for actually ramming enemy ships. -

The game itself says in the tips to be mindful that you have a keel and not just what you see above water. -
After Missouri, what will be the next FreeExp ship ?
MoveZig replied to PseudoMi's topic in General Discussion
BIgly disappointed, was hoping for a much lower-tier, more affordable one. And not another ******* BB. -
PVE Scenarios (S1): Which ships for which missions?
MoveZig replied to Sams_Baneblade's topic in General Discussion
CV play depends a lot on Lexington surviving. If it doesn't, you're on your own vs. the Hiryu's 2 fighter squads. -

Having a decent CV helps a lot. Even with Bogue I'm getting more done than with my gunboats. And Bogue is gimped compared to Indy, which has better and more planes and manual attacks. Best part, you can hide behind an island, and if you hold out long enough for the attack squadron to arrive, you pretty much win. Even if all players are sunk, the friendly bots will finish the job. Anything else is kind of a pain to play. Shooting at bow-on IJN cruisers is not fun. Oh, and good job adding that tiny island that's almost invisible on the minimap. Quite the newb trap. -
BBs, sure. You can shoot them from a bit farther away with a bit more safety. Is it worth 4 points? imo, no. Too situational, not potent enough of an effect. I'd only pick the skill on secondary or AA-specced BBs and AA cruisers. DDs have the speed to close the distance and the agility to be a hard target at normal max range.

I really don't understand this selective availability of premium ships for gold. Where's Perth? Where's Yubari? Where's Albert? They're trying to pull a Nintendo, aren't they? Limiting availability so they can crank up the prices. Well I'm not buying them then and I'm spending my money elsewhere.

Tier 1 - PM is the only one you want. PT is unnecessary, you should generally be weaving around randomly anyway to be a hard taget at all times when spotted. But it's the one I'd pick if I had a spare 19th point. PM Is great for the cost but is no reliable sustitute for LS. Tier 2 - EM and LS are mandatory for gunboat Anshan, EM can perhaps be switched out for Main Arm Mod 2 if you play torpboat-style. Tier 3 - BFT first choice, unless you want to play torpboat-style. In which case, TAE. If you go gunboat, DE is a no-brainer too. I would still take BFT even if you prefer torping, as sometimes you'll just have to shoot it out. You might be permaspotted by planes, for example, which you don't have the AA to threaten much. Tier 4 - CE is overall great, even 24/7 gunboats can use it when capping. It's not as essential as on US gunboats but still nice to have. And for torpboats, it gives you a very comfortable 1.7km stealth launch zone. IMO AFT is a waste now that stealth firing is gone. Just get closer so you can be more accurate. IFHE is afaik not really worth it at all on these guns. Assorted skills: AR is good, unless you go full stealth all the time. JoAT and Superintendent make a good combo. Vigilance can save your hiney from stray torps every once in a blue moon but is very situational. SE is much more reliable for gunboat Anshan. Anshan's speed, stealth and firepower make it a decent hunter-killer, so if you're left with spare points, consider Radio Location so you can track down torpboats or damaged DDs and murder them. You'll definitely want EM for those close-range engagements though. RL will also compromise your stealth-torping ability sometimes since the enemy can figure out that you're close. In short, plenty of skills for pure gunboat Anshan, but lots of leeway if prefer a hybrid playstyle without maximum gun focus.

I rarely use salvos or sequential fire. Only on a clear shot. Longer ranges, I like to spray by clicking over an area. Often I'll try to cover where the target is going as well as the most likely direction of his evasive maneuver. Yeah, I don't get those lucky devastating salvos, but I'm more likely to hit *something* per reload.
-
This is the kind of thing where WG need to be more clear with the mechanics rather than letting streamers do all the work.
-
Ugh, if they get radar I'm so done with high-tier DDs. That'll be the last straw. Maybe this new co-op mode has arrived at just the right time to spare me the final death of torpboat play.

I'm always skeptical of interpreting the stats as an indication of balance. It's a premium, so by default it's going to be played by players who are more invested in the game, thus are more skilled. Moreso because it's a cruiser, is not iconic, is new, hasn't gotten a discount yet (afaik) and is only available in the webstore where it gets less visibility (and fewer payment options) than if it were available ingame. In other words, not many potatoes have bought it yet.
-
Dude, you bought a t6 cruiser within MM range of all the most popular p2w premiums. I can understand doing it because you want to play Italian or because you want a good exp/cred farmer, but expecting a fair MM under those conditions is... uninformed.
