    A lot, that's how much. At least 40%. I'm just playing t8 for the campaigns, my normal stomping ground is t6-7. Truth be told, as a DD there are some benefits to uptiering. Not very many CVs, and there are some DDs at t8 that offer things you can't get at higher tiers (Z-23's 150mm, Ognevoi's torps)

    You can consider taking Torpedo Acceleration to help things a bit with hitrate. They'll still be worse than any other in terms of speed/stealth, so the only other thing you can do is spread them more tightly. Build a wall that doesn't have large enough cracks for the target to slip through, depending on what it is. Now, a lot of people diss TA because it lowers range but lots of DD make do with 8km torps, and it's a good range to launch from, also removing the temptation to hang at 10km and ''snipe'' ineffectively.

  4. I don't understand why they have to show off the game with t10s. It should be closer to the mid tiers, where the mechanics are fleshed out. As a potential player, I would find that best since it wouldn't spoil the high tiers and then make me start with tiny gunboats, with at the minimum several months of grinding before I could get to play t10 again. Also less rage from players that are paying serious service costs in the high tiers. I did spot someone with a ''WoWS_Press_Dunkirk'' name in a Blysk, and I think they actually did okay.

    Is there a big difference between t6 and t7 premiums to justify the cost increase? I'm guessing not for EXP, since both get +50% with t7 getting a bit more exp by default, but what about credits, does t7 earn considerably more? I mean, there has to be something to justify the stupidly high price of ships like Belfast and Atlanta.

    I'm wondering what the huge influx of HE-spamming BBs that are extremely resistant to HE will do the meta. Sure, the smart ones will be shooting AP at each other, but what about cruisers? Don't they indirectly get nerfed by this line that laughs at HE and keeps fires burning just to farm achievements? I predict a nerf to the superheal, including Nelson's.

    The rumored smoke changes drove me away from smoke-dependent ships but the new solution seems more sensible... except for smoke cruisers, which feel a bit shafted. Long story short, for all the whining and bias accusations, every line and ship is playable. Some are UP but still playable. And judging by the IJN DD buffs, WG do get around to balancing, eventually. The problem with such games is that with hundreds of vehicles ingame, there's too much temptation to do blanket buffs/nerfs based on stats like WR and damage dealt rather than looking at the ships more individually. I think I'd be nice and angry right now if I had a Shira and had bought permacamo for it, only for it to be nerfed, hard and unfairly. If they're going to screw over a ship that substantially, permacamo should be refunded. It might seem like a business loss, but so is a disgusted player that quits because their investment ingame has been changed into something else. Shira minus smoke plus a longer TRB action time plays much worse, I'm sure.

    Not unless that 330mm belt is actually made of cheese. AP pens to the upper plate will be the death by a thousand cuts, much like on Colorado and other all-or-nothing BBs. If you broadside or go bow-on and get citted, well, that's kind of your own fault, but any amount of angling should be sufficient to prevent that.

    I'm not familiar enough with high-tier gameplay but I just can't say smoked-up BBs are much of a gamebreaker on randoms. Hell, most of the time when I smoke up an ally they don't even bother to stay in it, especially BBs. But you know what, anything that hurts Belfast gives me joy. I feel those poor RN cruisers (plus stinking Belfast) will be by far the most hurt by this, along with other smoke crusers. It would be acceptable if they could use hydro to reliably spot anyone getting within the bloom range. For non-smoke cruisers, sure, make them spottable beyond hydro range if it's that much of a concern. Which it might be in organized play, I just don't see much of it in randoms.

    Isn't that what every t7 prem gets? Arguably Nelson has more value than some because it can be used for retraining.

    Here's my question, does Orion get the increased HE pen I read about? With Ishi I know I can HE-cit at least Kirov and any UK cruiser. If Orion has special HE-pen it could perhaps get Svietlana, Kuma, Phoenix and others in the 70mm range that don't have a bulge or internal armor.

    This sounds a lot more sensible than the previous idea, but I feel this will be a hefty nerf to smoke cruisers. To balance this, perhaps it should be set to the range of their hydro. Also, instead of leaving it up to gun caliber and concealment, each ship should be considered individually to decide its smoke bloom. Sweeping changes like this based on just two general attributes aren't a great idea for balance imo. Like, look at Nurnberg vs. Spee. Same tier, same type. They're not supposed to have very different concealment, yet the large-caliber guns on Spee, despite the low number, drive the bloom up 50% compared to Nurn (according to this). This just doesn't seem justified or balanced.

    They made a mistake the first time, they should never ask players to play several hours a day. Something that you can do slowly over an indefinite period like the campaign, sure, but WG shouldn't be asking players to put in 1/8 of their day for 3 days straight. The COTE event was pretty much this as well, you had to be hardcore and rot in front of your screen for several hours each day for any chance at getting 250+ coins a week for the 'kaze. If a player chooses to spend their life on the game that's fine, but it's different when WG are promoting it.

    What's moneymaking about it? I looked up Type 10 camo and all it says is +50% EXP. Do t7 prems make more money even without the camo, or something like that? Unless you mean money for WG, which being a Brit BB, I'm sure is going to be the case.

    Hm okay, kinda had the impression that t8+ German BB meta was to put practically every point and upgrade slot into buffing secs, which will now be hilariously useless against the new ships. I mean, unless they nerf the superheal in some way, it's not hard to see what will happen. HE will be practically worthless against up to 1/3 of the enemy team. I'm not sure you could say that about any ship line so far, yet with the 1000hp/s heal, you'll be seeing players who refuse to put out fires just to farm achievements, knowing they can heal all that damage back in 20 seconds... 4 or 5 times in a match.

    So if the Mino will have 5.4km bloom, that'll be just outside its hydro range. Is this intentional or is bloom going to be matched to hydro range for smoke cruisers?
  20. I'm planning on getting Nelson when it comes out, and having done my research, I've reached the conclusion that like the UK cruisers, the real threat to these is large-caliber guns. You can heal *all* the fire and HE damage and then some, but AP hits will directly reduce your survivability by not being as repairable. Essentially as long as you're not taking AP damage, you're by far the toughest ship at the tier so you want to be positioned to avoid that at all costs. So what do you do? You island-hug so you can scoot as soon as a BB targets you. By the time you're on the other side, your guns are reloaded, the enemy BB has changed target and his DC is on cooldown, so you can start new fires, then head for the next cover. You've also bought yourself more time for your next superheal. The fire-based damage also encourages skirmishing, in fact this is the playstyle the devs themselves encourage in the dev diary. Now of course, you'll say that the opposite applies to the opposition - those KM BBs will want to aggressively charge you so that you can be killed quickly with AP damage, but something tells me the UK will end up more popular than KM for quite a while, and combined with a general unwillingness by BBs to attack decisively, we'll see an increase in island-hugging and attritional combat. That's what these BBs seem to specialize in. Also unlike plunging AP, fires work absolutely fine at any range and angle, so some UK players will prefer to stay at max range and spam fires. Preferably from behind an island. Short range is just too risky for these ships, since AP is way more effective there. If you disagree, how do you plan to play Nelson using its strengths and weaknesses?

    Destroyer Line for a Beginner

    USSR. It's probably the simplest playstyle of all (past t3). Once you're past the cap phase, you can just turn your brain off, tape up your LMB, aim at the closest thing you can shoot at and wasdhax randomly while staying at 10km+. It's highly unlikely you'll get killed quickly as long as you dance unpredictably and in the meantime you're putting out quite consistent damage. KM 1-5 is a very poor representation of the rest of the line. These are dedicated torpboats, which is very unfortunate at tiers where you will often see 2x carriers on small maps, that can spot both you and your torps. If you want a good idea of the rest of the line, play to t6. They are quite nice from there and become good brawlers. Early USN are brawlers. They're good but an aggressive playstyle is required to do well. At t7+, you can be a stealthier, with long-range torps, but your guns will always have short effective range. Go IJN if you like stealth and torps. The opposite of USN. IIRC the first few tiers give you a good impression, except later you get to switch out smoke for faster torp reloads, which is pretty bad for you if there are carriers in the match.

  23. Hadn't thought of that actually. There are always BBs that insist on using HE, but imagine if most BBs spammed nothing but HE and ''stole'' fire slots from CAs and gunboats. Actually, I think we won't have to imagine it in a couple of weeks when they launch.

    Skip the German DD Line up to...

    I feel this line shines more in the high tiers in the early morning hours when CVs are scarce. They're a major predator to this line. And Z-52 is a feared cap contester. I feel like there are two modes to the KM DDs from t6 - you're either brawling DDs in caps with your hydro, decent guns and large HP pool, or you're stealth-torping IJN-style. The USSR thing works less well since you're not as fast, most of the guns shoot rather high, you eat a lot of pens and your smoke sucks.

    Nah. They're saying a high-tier tech tree ship is still in testing, and of course there's the weekly blueprint event this week and the next, which unlocks ships before they become available. Oh, and the dev diary video explicitly says they're coming out next patch, so my money is on 31st for the tech tree and Nelson.
