EG gives you a very good idea, in fact these DDs hardly change as they go up in tier: t7 gets an additional gun, but doesn't get 150mm t8 gets 150mm (5 of them, instead of the 4 128mm) t9 gets the much faster turrets, +1 gun, no 150mm t10 gets Hindenburg's hydro, no 150mm Apart from some incremental changes like more HP and torp range, and of course the t8 and t9 mod slots, that's really about it for progression. I have heard some things about the shells being different, maybe someone can comment on that.

Looking forward to the ship, not looking forward to waiting a year or longer for it to appear on the ingame store so I can buy it. Duca still isn't in there, they're playing peekaboo with it on the webstore just like with Perth.

Probably just because of the t8 MM that screws you over, Z-23 is not radically different from those two ships. Or maybe the long grind to the 150mm got to you, it's no fun having t6 guns on a ship that faces Gearings.

WG’s recent problems are symptomatic of a deeper issue.
MoveZig replied to Mytola's topic in General Discussion
Regarding balance, this isn't TF2 where there are 9 classes to balance, we have somewhere in the area of 100 ships in the game and new gimmicks are frequently being introduced to maintain interest in the game. With this much variety, I'd imagine balancing is quite difficult, so it's easy to see why they'd want to resort to simply checking the stats and nerfing/buffing ships based on that (case in point, the very unneeded nerf to Shiratsuyu). Add to that a complete unwillingness to nerf premiums, and it's no suprise you'd see patchwork measures like smoke-nerfing and IFHE-nerfing. Since those are the tools some of the most OP premiums use. Too bad for the non-prem Brit CLs that get caught up in it, I don't feel they need a nerf, but watcha gonna do if directly nerfing Belfast is not allowed? -
+1 regarding WG's Graf Zep response, but is iCloud being reinstated?

Perhaps the problem is that the people making the mistakes are not the same ones that make the apologies... -
It's a low-priced Sony. I always buy cheap when it comes to headsets but even by those standards, this is a bit offputting. Videos sound fine, don't notice too much of a difference there, but when it comes to WoWS, the sound quality is shockingly bad. Sound and music sound distant and washed-out... *except* for the gun sounds, which are some of the most satisfying I've heard. Even the 130mms now have a glorious rumble to them. But yeah, the rest is terrible. It's a long shot, but is there something I'm missing? Some setting that I can change? Speaking of which, I have trouble with volume on WoWS. The game has always been too quiet for me. I have the game's own volume sliders, and Windows, turned to the max, and it's still a little too low, especially on this new headset.

I'm thankful that I've found a game slow-paced enough that I can play it on my slow and high-latency connection, and a lot of it is quality game design. The game has problems in management and community interaction, though I'm willing to cut it some slack when it comes to balance - when you have hundreds of vehicles in your game and you need to periodically introduce new mechanics that upset the balance, it's not going to be easy to keep everything workable. The sound and music design is excellent, and the art department does good work.

Well it's not minimal, it's a whole 0.7km iirc. But it all means nothing if a plane hovers over you, that's where you truly become worse in every conceivable way than an Akatsuki. I already considered Akatsuki better than Shira before the nerf, now it sure as hell is superior. I really don't get this harsh treatment. Welp, at least we have Gajah Madah to look forward to with its DW torps and the only quintuple-launchers of t7 afaik, and second-best stealth in t7. Should be a respectable competitor to Akatsuki and hands-down better than smoke-Shira (or TRB-Shira in a CV match).

Well it's not like torps are a main weapon to use vs. DDs. If you get hit by a torp as a DD, it's your own fault nearly every time. It won't affect smoke-camping much when it comes to cruisers, since they also have hydro with a fixed range. But yeah, it would be good to be able to switch and I don't think it would be OP. Most of those ships will have like a 100-120s reload on their torps.

A microtransaction is released in an Early Access state and costs almost as much as a new AAA release. Jim would love this, though I don't think he would lambaste WG for cutting ties with iChase. As he stated last time, that's WG's prerogative. It's petty, and bad publicity, but it's up to them. Sometimes, yeah. They clearly weren't thinking when they decided to make a threat of an illegal action against SirFoch. This is different though, they were in their rights in this case even if they should have provided some warning first.

I feel I've been getting a decent amount of SCs lately with TYL, but the contents are heavily nerfed - 100 regular signals vs. the old 250. At least those pointless upgrades are more scarce.

Guns? Go USA if you like skin-of-your-teeth brawling. Germany (from t6) if you want a more sluggish brawler with hydro and a lot of HP. USSR if you don't mind spamming HE at 11-14km most of the match, every match. Personally, I find the latter boring. People often say USA is easiest/most newb-friendly but I can't agree. The effective range is rubbish because of the high shell arcs and you're smoke-dependent, which leaves you vulnerable to hydro and radar. If you get into trouble in the open, you don't really have that much speed to run away with, especially in some of the high tiers. USA are killers in island chains thanks to lots of cover + islands to shoot over, but they kinda suck in open water where USSR reigns supreme.

Why are specials/newsposts constantly wrong?
MoveZig replied to Darkrenown's topic in General Discussion
It doesn't help that the community itself doesn't use the correct terminology most of the time. Using modules/ugrades/modifications/equipment pretty much interchangeably. -
Anshan gets 2x Free EXP and is a very decent DD to play. For those kinds of earnings, it's a steal and being t6, it can be used for ops as well. Unclear whether it will get deep-water torps with the main PA line.

They only just put it up on the ingame store... I mean, whatever, I wasn't going to buy it, but how about dealing with the ship that has smoke+radar and is despised by much of the playerbase?

Wargaming is announcing PvE's great success at Gamescom 2017, and then is granting Gamescom flag exclusively through PvP battles?
MoveZig replied to DragonKidd's topic in General Discussion
Oh, I love Aegis for those reasons but have found the rest too unreliable. I am glad that they made Ops available for some of the worst MM-tiers in the game so you don't have to suffer through some t5s like Kirov, but wish they'd make ops for higher tiers too. It would be great to have a strong PVE community in this game, but currently putting 7 random people together for an op reminds me of trying to string together a PUG for an unpopular dungeon in WoW's early years. Ops need a little something more to build a dynamic community around them, not just a one-off reward. -

MoveZig replied to DragonKidd's topic in General Discussion
Problem is, the former was a one-off. There's no incentive to replay them, something which should be remedied. As an aside, when Killer Whale first launched, I got carried to 5 stars on the first match despite not having a clue. Same for Raptor. Now, playing them with randoms is pure frustration and often pointless as they have no idea how to do the mission. Strange how that works, I guess the unicums got their rewards in the first days and then went back to pvp, never looking back. Now we have people wandering off in Killer Whale when they're supposed to get to the exit, BBs chasing the carriers in Raptor and other such things. -
No, not becuase of anything about the ship itself, but the price is more than some excellent full games and the strafe mechanic on CVs rubs me the wrong way anyhow, so I won't play anything above t5 in PVP. Maybe I'd go for a t6 for Ops.

Nelson - passive gameplay and camping intensifies!!
MoveZig replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, that's pretty much what I feared - a one-trick pony whose big gimmick only works as long as you avoid another thing (AP) like it's Ebola. Passive play and island-hugging is exactly what I'd expect from a squishy BB whose strength lies in attrition play with HE and heals. That's how the devs themselves envisioned it, if you watch the dev diary video. I mean, that's kinda the smart thing to do with it, and with any ship that gets the superheal. Nuke it down so it won't get to use its superpower. It won't be alone much longer though, I so guess the release of the line will be an indirect buff to it.- 81 replies

The most interesting MM what I've ever seen...
MoveZig replied to Mydgard's topic in General Discussion
Yeah it's all the CVs' fault. -
Is it just me or did they kind of try to repeat the same thing as the RN CLs? A ship that's supposed to punch down, not up, and needs to avoid BBs like the plague as well as using cover and stealth to buy time for its heal. Well, I guess I'll decide once the stats are ingame and the first reviews are out, but I can see it's going to be a bit of a specialist - bad AA, weak torp protection, allergy to AP, picky angling. Pretty lopsided. If it's one of those ships like Amagi that are supposed to get by purely by the strength of their guns, I might just pick up Gneis instead so I won't just feel like a rickety gun platform, but something better-rounded.

Yes, pretty often, but there's just no need. I've been playing a year and gotten dozens of port slots through missions, campaigns and free ships. I think we'll be getting up to 3 in 0.6.10, depending on how many blueprints you got from the weekly missions.
-
.... wait, research? Don't you get everything from the start like any other premium?
