So, is bowtanking still enforced by the game's meta after the citadel lowering? I watched WG's own Armada video on NC where they explicitly instruct players to bowtank with it. Not a fun playstyle to me, I'd prefer more of a battlecruiser experience. Should I aim for Amagi or Iowa for that?

Is there another part after the first 2240MB one? If so, how big?
-
It varies depending on the ship, but I don't typically stick my neck out when playing t5->t7 matches. I do of course participate, but when playing BB I don't take point and when playing DD I try to follow another DD to a cap. No one's forcing you to be cannonfodder, you can leave the heavy lifting to the more fortunate players who are top-tier. But there's no excuse to let your team down by quitting.

Ship "Rentals" = 72 hour ship tryouts reported on NA - anyone seen it on EU?
MoveZig replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
There should be a Test Drive feature like in WT, just being able to sail around and shoot at dummy targets to get a feel for the ship. Without rewards but also without a time limit. -
Black Friday in a few weeks might bring big discounts.

So, basically with the introduction of DW torps, IJN ships are relegated to the role of torping careless DDs. That's about the only thing they can do better, except they suck at that too because of the torp detection range which means mostly just inexperienced players will get hit.

Strike Bogue is nice unless you are uptiered, but when you do get uptiered (which is often) you get hit hard by the sudden ability of t6 opponents to strafe you, better AA all-around and potentially Def AA. Somehow despite all that, I manage 50k so it's not unplayable. It can be terror in t5 matches unless you get a AS Bogue on the other side. One advantage of not having strafing at t5 is that fighters have to tail bombers, which in groups of 7, with every damage buff and use of Evasive Manuever can defend themselves somewhat, especially if you drag them over your own ships. You also won't encounter many seal clubbing CVs at t5. All that goes out the window when you are uptiered.

What's the point in keeping tier 9 ships after unlocking tier 10 for a almost F2P player?
MoveZig replied to Favuz's topic in General Discussion
Another ship with high base EXP to slap a premium camo on during +100% and +200% events, I suppose. -
Advice on how to spend 375k free XP
MoveZig replied to Captain_Bloodless's topic in General Discussion
Don't get Nelson unless you really want it specifically. It's nothing special in terms of earnings. Don't spend FXP on the tech tree, it's horrible value considering you could just grind through it. If you're after a good farming ship, get Missouri. If that's not what you want, and you're not drooling over Nelson, hold onto the FXP for later premium ships. Remember, you can always buy Nelson for the same price but you can't unbuy it. -
storm wind camo [Premium Shop] Storm Wind Camo
MoveZig replied to MaxxyNL's topic in General Discussion
So is the FXP bonus applied after the EXP bonus? Also, for the daily challenges, do they reset or do you keep your progress if you didn't manage to complete it last day? 15k base EXP in a day is too much... I thought they learnt that lesson from the Free French event thing.- 35 replies

The contents are definitely less than they used to be but I feel the SC frequency for TYL is the same or better. Then again, the contents tend to be much worse if you get signals, not to mention the awful special upgrades. Interestingly, you can still get 50 premium camos, which is very nice, so not all the rewards have been nerfed.
-
It's going to be a problem for t5-6, unlike the other tasks. I get good games like this and still 200 base EXP short. Not a fair task imo, not that I can't do it with higher tiers I guess, just mid-tiers get screwed.
-
I'm concerned about the 1600 base EXP mission. All the others I can handle, but this may be a bit too much. Higher tiers get more base EXP, right?
-
Over 1m and a 18pt captain on Anshan. Ever since I got it, it's been ''the ship I *should* be playing'', just in terms of earnings. That camo is a steal for the price, very un-WGlike, I'd say.

Double your loot with a Mystery Bag from the Wargaming Store!
MoveZig replied to P2Win's topic in General Discussion
Sorry but real-money gambling in games, without knowing the odds and without any independent body checking the veracity of that information, is not a good idea. -
I don't think WG would want to straight-up say DW torps are better than normal torps, nor deal with the complaining from Anshan and LY owners who don't like being forced to use them. You're right, I thought those were different launchers.
-
Given that WG have a policy of not altering premiums individually except to buff them, it seems highly unlikely. Especially since there doesn't exist a mechanic to change ammo type from the port yet.
-
Well there goes any chance of getting them on the existing premiums then.
-
If it's just DDs that are excluded, it's a tradeoff I'll gladly take. You won't hit a DD unless he screws up. That's not something I want to count on. I'd rather have more-or-less guaranteed hits on bigger targets given a good launch vector.

OKTYABRSKAYA REVOLUTSIYA in the shop & mission
MoveZig replied to SteDorff's topic in General Discussion
Here's hoping WGEU doesn't ruin it with unreasonable requirements. No ''shoot down 20 planes'', no ''sink 2 ships and get top score''. Just grinding. So far they've kept the weekly mission nonsense out of these gift missions. After all, the idea is to please the players, not frustrate them. -
You know why I haven't gotten into IJN DDs? It's not the low speed or low HP or early-warning torps but the fact that you're expected to use TRB instead of smoke. If a CV spots you, you're basically out of the match before you're even sunk. Can't spot, can't run, can't hide, can't smoke up, can't torp, your AA sucks and usually so do your guns. You could argue ''well, use smoke instead of TRB then'' but you do that on Yugumo and you have pretty objectively a worse DD than Fletcher in just about every metric there is. And you still don't have the good smoke or Def AA. Even within the same tree, Shiratsuyu is worse in almost every way than Akatsuki should you choose to use smoke, including torping, which is what Shira is supposed to excel at. So yeah, this is a line with a very clear and very hard counter that only comes into play sometimes but when it does, it's extremely aggravating. I don't think any line suffers as much from air-spotting, which is usually completely out of your control when it happens.
-
Why, did they change something? Last preview I saw, the only differences from normal torps were much better detection range and inability to hit DDs. Which, if you're relying on torps to kill DDs, you're doing it wrong.
-
Man, who cares about money. Anshan gets 2x Free EXP, applied after the +50% EXP bonus. If you're serious about farming in the game and you don't want to fork over the money for a t9-t10 permacamo or Missouri, Anshan is a solid choice. Not sure why you'd prioritize credits over FXP, although Anshan isn't a bad credit farmer either. And it can of course be used as a trainer.
-
Well let's see, what does USA get: - Inferior torps - Def AA consumable option - Good smoke And for PA: - Gud torps - No Def AA, just Engine Boost - Radar option instead of smoke Verdict: Go USA if you want a gunboat, PA if you want torp play. The radar will make up for not being able to hit DDs with torps (which rarely works anyway, it's a small price to pay for awesome detection range). Also, smoke is counterproductive for torpboats anyway since it broadcasts where you are. On the downside, if there is a CV spotting you, you're just as useless as a TRB IJN boat.
