    More content for tier 2-4

The one good thing about old EU missions was that for long time you could do them with t4 ships. Now it's t5, or higher for things like the Indianapolis marathon. I hate it. t4 is great tier to be at, with a great variety of ships: Protected cruisers, dreadnoughts, battlecruisers, little German torpboats, some odd ducks like Katori and Yuubari. And absolutely no damn radar.

    The purpose of new resources?

I"m specifically saving coal for ships. Everything else looks outrageously expensive, signals in particular are highly overvalued by WG. If they got really, really stingy with giving away bonus camos, maybe I could justify the coal price for those. I'm hoping for Katori, Perth, Huanghe and italian CLs to get added, since different and interesting playstyles are what keeps my interest in the game. Oh yeah, a tip - don't get Campbeltown for some fun low-tier matches. The gun firepower is atrocious, the launcher arrangement is a doozy and the concealment is powercreeped by ships like Vampire and the upcoming t3 RN. It's like if Mutsuki had the same detection as Podvoisky, you just get creamed on sight. Even the humble Phra Ruang can outspot and outgun it. It's one of the weakest, most awkward-feeling ships I know of and needs a stealth buff at least. I know it's based on Wickes but it just doesn't work for something that cannot shoot its way out of a wet paper bag.

    USS Seattle Gun Range wtf

I don't know why anyone would be upset over this, it's not like you're gonna be hitting much with a 11s shell flight time. Unless you're behind an island, you'd better get closer rather than trying to take out a sniper with a slingshot. Overall though, Seattle hardly looks like an upgrade to Cleve. It has more HP yeah, but also a longer, taller cit with less armor.

    Kronshtadt - enlighten me

Oh, you can definitely cit a Yamato if it gives you the chance, it's just the caliber is too small to overmatch any armor on a t8+ CL, so angling makes the AP very inconsistent compared to anything 380mm+, which overmatches 25mm.

    Kronshtadt - enlighten me

My impressions, though keep in mind it's my highest-tier ship that I play: - The AP is good on unangled things only. It's not enough to overmatch even t8+ cruiser armor or any BB armor, so don't expect BB penetration. Personally I use HE as my go-to ammo type, and the reload with MAM3 (16s) is good enough for opportunistic use of AP. - VS heavy cruisers, angling will help a lot since they certainly can't overmatch 25mm either. Then they switch to HE and, well, Kron is a mixed bag against that. Of course you get HE-penned, you're a big target and can't dodge much of anything. OTOH you have a large HP pool and standard CA DCP. Fire duration is 45s. - Between BB concealment, t7 BB armor, BB-like rudder and BB size, you eat about as much damage as a t7 BB in a t9 battle. Against BBs, keep your distance, do not bowtank and rely on your comparatively favorable dispersion to whittle it down with HE and fires. - Service cost is 32k, but you will spend more than that on ammo. Earnings, I don't know the modifier, but enough to make a profit in co-op and make back your 4 premium consumables in pvp unless you really mess up. - The big decision to make when outfitting it is rudder -40% vs. detection -10%. Given that the reload is 16-18s, it's not really appropriate for fading out or alpha strikes like a BB is. I went with rudder, it's less situational than stealth. But you really have to hang back and be mindful of enemy BBs at all times. PT is great to have. - Turret firing arcs are very favorable and good for kiting. If you've played semi-BB Graf Spee and cursed its turret arcs, this is way better.

    Radar in a cyclone

If I use radar when visibility is down to 8km and spot a target with it, will the target be spotted for allies too, or still greyed out for them?
  7. 25k coal. It's sitting nice and tight until they put a ship I want on the Arsenal. Something that looks fun. Perth, Katori, Italian CLs, Asashio, Hood all look interesting.

    Is Edge Surfing Ever OK?

Sure, it can be used legitimately. Maybe you're trying to mess up the enemy's aim, maybe you're trying to avoid a secondary-spec BB for as long as possible and can't get around it, maybe you simply have to keep going forward to the edge because you simply can't afford to turn or slow down. The problem is the BB who do it by default because they're trying to ''snipe'', i.e. avoid damage at all costs even as you team is getting slaughtered.

    Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)

I fell off the wagon days ago. No way am I going to bust my head doing missions that have 3 different requirements, with a 2-day limit. That's the sort of task you set and forget from a campaign. Not something with a restrictive time window. That's a recipe for rage and disappointment.
  10. I actually like gimmicks, and I think instead of giving every new ship either hydro or radar they should introduce a counter of some kind, useable by the DDs that are hurt the most by radar - stealth-focused DDs. I mean, are F3s even useable anymore with practically everything having a consumable to counter DDs and/or their torps? I wouldn't know because the highest I play now is t5.

Scenario: Futility of Naval Station Newport

It's easy enough to 3-star, much harder than Aegis to 5-star.

    Radar in a cyclone

I just realized how horrible cyclones must be for high-tier DDs. Can't spot anything until 8km, but if it has radar then it has you in its killzone. Just one more reason to stick to t5.

Okay, that's a good explanation, thanks.

    Radar in a cyclone

So wait, USSR radar gets its range reduced in a cyclone? How much range does it have?

What ships do you think need buffs?

Campbeltown is pretty bad imo. For a torpboat, it's important to be able to launch large salvos against small and maneuverable targets, which is most ships at the lower tiers. 3 torps per side is just not enough. Yes, you can wiggle and launch the rest within seconds but that's still not good enough imo. And the guns are quite shockingly bad. Having almost the same detection range as Vampire is... well, it's as if Shiratsuyu had the same detection range as a Leningrad. You get murdered. A stealth buff would help make it more competitive and indirectly help with the torp spread problem.

Graf Spee owners - hints and tips, please.

    1. Get Concealment Expert, it's a good combo with the high gun alpha. You want to shoot and fade out until it's safe to shoot again. 2. Just avoid BBs at mid-range. Either do the fade in/out thing or CQB them with torps. Don't trade shots with them, you will lose. 3. VS cruisers, mid-short range is preferred. both for AP penetration and accuracy. 4. Try to catch DDs at short range, but not so close that they can easily torp you. IMO the worst threat to a GS is a USSR DD which you can't reliably hit and which keeps you spotted for its BBs while farming hits on you. 5. The AP does a lot of damage, but it's too small to overmatch 25mm, which BBs of its tier will have. VS. angled BBs, switch to HE even though it sucks. 6. Get both Main Arm Mod 1 and PM skill. You can't afford to lose a turret while the torps are among the most fragile and exposed modules I know of.

    Austria-Hungary?

I know next to nothing about them, but maybe they could do something interesting with Radetzky's mixed gun calibers. If they're just going to be vanilla, gimmick-free ships, I won't really be interested. Low tiers are already pretty simplistic with the lack of consumables and uprade choices.
  18. Citadelled and set on fire by a bomb. Emerald never ceases to amaze.

    What ship line next?

Either a new DD line or Italian cruisers. Since we just got cruisers, my money's on RN DDs.
  20. It's going to take absolutely freaking forever. I just repeat the two grindy tasks since I don't feel like banging my head against the desk trying to complete the challenging ones. Those are the kinds of tasks I want to set and forget after I've completed the campaign, and if I get one done in the course of regular play, then cool. But purposely trying to get them done for campaign stars is a sure path to a smashed keyboard.
  21. Yup, I'm not touching t6+ anymore and yes, I feel dirty in my CA when I radar a DD from behind an island and watch it get slaughtered. Oh sure, you'll say, stay away from the cap until the CAs are gone. But guess what, that's neither fun nor rewarding to the DD player. You're literally denied your role and your earnings because of this one damn consumable that is a hard counter to your entire playstyle. It's extra-insulting when I dare to bring out my T-22 and I'm faced with Payfasts that have more radar range than I do torp range.
  22. I don't bother with it on torpboats since I don't expect extended enough combat to get modules knocked out twice, and have Last Stand anyway. I do run DCP2 on everything else though.

    Indianapolis Marathon (01.06. - 16.07.)

I don't get why people say you should use AP on Kron. It can't overmatch 25mm and yet still overpens like hell. HE spam works just fine.

    Whats the point in collections??

I like them, a bit of fluff and historical background is not a bad thing for a historical wargame. The artists also do a good job.
