    T8 Matchmaking...

Especially for the Bismarck the issue is worsened by the fact that it is a ship thats really crappy at anything but brawling. Due to the absolutely abysmal dispersion you need to get close-ish to be effective. More so if youre running a secondaries build. And you get turned to mincemeat once you are close. Either some DD launches 400 torpedoes at you or the HE spamming scum will burn you to the ground. Or you just get hammered by 40cm cannons that always pen you regardless of angling. Its a travesty. Sniper BBs or ones with boatloads of cannons can at least sit back and use their range. Do that in the Bismarck and you wont do diddly.
  2. Im sorry, but that must be one of the dumbest arguments I have ever been unfortunate enought to be subjected to. Huge dispersion helps people hit. Im sure by the same logic large ship sizes help people to steer.
  3. Dont really see where you get that impression from. Been playing since the beta. Their accuracy was abysmal then, its still abysmal now
  4. Thats is not what I meant. You can of couse to a certain degree influence the general point of impact of a shell, but you cant influence the precise point. If Riselotte then tells people to aim for the upper hull part of the Moskva, I cannot help but wonder how this is supposed to be done. You can aim at the bow, midship section of aft of a ship, as they are general areas of relatively large size. Similarly you can somewhat target superstructure or main body/waterline. However, at all but spitting range BBs dont have the accuracy or precision to hit such a specific spot with any kind of reliability. You can aim for it, but chances are you wont hit it the overwhelming amount of cases. Even the most perfect aim is made pointless by dispersion.
  5. Well, thats kind of part of the problem, aint it? Aiming is worthless unless very close in Battleships. Now, leading is of course imperative, but aiming at precise locations has for me so far been impossible to do reliably at all but closes ranges. You can only aim in the general direction, as far as my experience goes, never specifically. And especially not vertically. On the horizontal plane you can somewhat influence the general trajectory through leading, but influencing the vertical point of impact is basically impossible to any meaningful degree.
  6. Generally speaking, pushing as a BB is an unappelaing thing to do. I mostly do it regardless because the Bismarck im currently playing cant hit the broad side of a barn beyond 10 km... but most of the time I would prefer not having to get close. Getting close means being exposed to copious amounts of enemy fire and thanks to the omnipresence of HE spamming ships, the armour on the ship is very much pointless. Aim a little higher on the superstructure and all that belt armour is worthless. Not to mention fire ignores armour and just eats away at HP. Fact is Fires and highly accurate spam of fire-starting ammunition by cruisers and - to a certain extend - DDs makes getting close a very bad idea in most circumstances. Add to that overpen and the terrible accuracy of BB weapons even at close ranges and reliably scoring high-damage hits becomes a dice roll. You can aim perfectly and have the enormous spread negate any kind of meaningful impact. Why should I therefore get in close and personal when I can just as well sit at 17+ km rolling dice out of most harms way? If my aim has only minor impact on the shells precise point of impact, almost regardless of distance, why bother not exploiting the range advantage? Oh, and torpedos are a deterring factor too. Now, one solution would be to make long-ranged fire with BBs extremely inaccurate but greatly increase the accuracy as distance diminishes. much more so than now. That would incentivise getting closer and makes sniping less appealing and effective.
  7. The only true gripe I have (I am a BB purist, as I must admit) is that, at least as far as the american BBs go, which I am currently grinding through, their accuracy at 10+ Kilometers is abhorrent. Especially the Colorado Im currently playing with cant hit the broad side of a barn at everything above said distance. Its hard to score citadel hits or devastating strikes when, due to the excessive dispersion, you can aim perfectly and still only score 1 hit out of a full salvo whic then hits the superstructure and overpens for a little above 1k damage. Im not sure whether that problem gets less pronounced in the last 3 tiers, but I am again and again baffled how terribly bad the accuracy of the guns is at higher ranges. Meanwhile, Cruisers are extraordinarily accurate at even the longest ranges. I would very much appreciate making the main guns more reliable - not powerful, mind you, just more rewarding when you aimed well and reliable - as I have the feeling I am curerntly rolling the dice with every shot.

    Matchmaking
