FINALLY! An awesome idea! Wohou! ... (of course, you still might have to add the torpedo tubes, but that should be no problem, since she actually had some in real life right?) Make Mikasa relevant again!!!

Yeah unfortunately Caughtintherain is quite right, it is the BB overpopulation that needs to be addressed... It might be best simply to limit BB numbers to a maximum of 3 per team and be done with it. That should take care of it nicely.- 28 replies

AawwW iJoby you're a hard, cruel man - Have some pity and don't be like that... They be poor, they need your Doubloons. Think of all the starving childrens with an elephant foot in Africa or in Whatchamacallit and all de' poor, poor shareholders-investors and stuff. Think of poor ole' penniless Donald Trump...Surely you could spare a few?

Naah, my current project is to try and get ALL my Commanders up to a minimum of 10 points (almost there now), then up to 15... But I only have a few 19 points commanders, because after 15 points it will take something like effing 1,5 million XP to graduate there! Might take years to get even most of my current commanders to 15 XP or higher, not to mention any new ones. That will be a never-ending project I suspect. And maybe a good thing too.

Totally my fault, no way it was the team, right? RIGHT?

And Cheers to that! Oh... You said infuriating, ehehehe... I thought inebriated, my bad entirely. -
Yyeeah, well I guess some Super-Unicum with 10 or 20K matches behind him or something...
-
Is that even possible? Well, ulness you only have one or 2 commanders I mean. Getting to 19 points is a horrific grind to get even one there. But yeah, agreed there. it makes no sense to waste them for free XP unless you're reeeeeally desperate for that Missouri or Nelson or some such...

Yeah, the worst for me was when WoWs had the mission about killing 100 Russian / Sovied DD's way back when (or it might have been slightly fewer that that - 20 perhaps - BUT it took several hundred bloody games to get there) ... But guess if there were any of those in any game at the time? Nope, zilch, Nada. And even if you were lucky enough to have one in the enemy team, it was guaranteed on the opposite side of the map and 100% dead by the time you got anywhere near. It took forever... And then some. -

I got camos for my Wakatake, Bismarck and some flags 2*75 India X-Ray and 20.000 free XP. So quite nice then... -
So WG. Still no fix for BB AP against DDs.
RAHJAILARI replied to ClappingLollies's topic in General Discussion
I agree ... After all, we should also keep in mind, who won the Battle of Leyte Gulf and why exactly? IJN failed miserably to destroy task Force Taffy precisely because their heavy ships tried to use AP on DD's and lightly armored Escort Carriers, which mostly resulted in overpens and light damage allowing their Cruisers and BB's to get torp'd repeatedly at will and taking heavy damage in a battle that should have been a walkover.- 79 replies

I'd have preferred a Stigray actually, but eh-ok then. I'll go with that... Preferably fricasseed, not boiled.

Hehehe! In my experience - It is quite possible that most of those people are employed by major companies in a senior management role .. Some might even have been elected president... Smell the coffee and Welcome to the "real" world dude! But then again that happens to everyone, had a similar streak of 34 games with 24% win ration just recently. It got better eventually tho, but as long as I had a good game I'm content. Just didn't manage to carry hard enough I guess. But it's not really the game's fault it is just that 90% of mankind has been infiltrated by morons from Mars and is quickly regressing back to its previous mushroomial vegetative state... I think i saw a movia about that once... Hmmm... -
Returning Player looking for some advice :)

And Kudos to you for doing that good SIR. I did not mean to say that all, who play RN BB's are necessarily potatoes, naturally skilled players play them too and they will use AP (of course) for better results. My intention was merely to point out the main reason, why RN BB's seem to be so extraordinarily popular with those BB players, who use neither their rudder nor AP - Ever -> Because they do not need to. Well, Warspite is an exception of course. In any case it is clear that these ships OP HE have specifically been created to act, as a crutch to those unable to grasp the concept of using AP, since they will make consistently good results anyway, so why bother? After all, otherwise you would at least sometimes see the same happening with other nation's BB's too, but you do not often encounter German BB's for example spamming HE or even IJN (and they have a relatively decent fire chance). -
Just took a look at Steel Ocean BTW (someone in this thread tipped me off earlier), it turns out they actually already have Ise, both the BB and Hybrid-CV versions in-game, Agano, Tone AND Kitakami (yeah I know, it's prolly not impressive but a torpedo-monster never-the-less, meewantssit), as well as subs... They actually have a separate LC line too with the 155mm Mogami, as top tier LC (as it should be)... Damppit. I like what I am seeing so far. Installed it yesterday so I think I will give it a try next weekend and see how that goes... In any case, if they could do it (LC as separate tech tree, hybrid ships and subs) and it works, then I see no reason why WG could not. Unless incompetence is more highly concentrated here than it is in China. Dunnoh, maybe that's a thing then? But yeah, test first, decide later.

Innderesding! Perhaps I will try the Scrooge McDuck's cheapo-option of buying 5 first and see what happens, then decide. Thanks for enlightening us SeeteufeI. -

Indeed, what IS in those things anyways? -
Yup, prolly true but then again... When using the Defensive AA+Catapult Fighter+Scout Plane combo with improved main guns all such nuisance could quite deftly be avoided while still keeping it unique and fun to play...

WOOT ??? Seriously? Oh Well Yeah, I always wanted to get into the Rebs too and become one of the Reds myself, but it just never worked out for me either... It is sooo wrong! Prolly the bloody hackers global conspiracy trolling me again.

Oh? There is a limit to BB numbers? I did not know that... Hallelujah! Finally some sensible news then. Though that said, i still hate the games with 5BB, 5DD and only 2 Cruisers.... Hehe! Especially, since I am currently trying to learn how to cruiser, hard to learn or to accomplish anything, if you spend the entire game just dodging BB's and hiding. That said, I have come to conclusion that Furutaka is a very good ship, though as any Cruiser it is an easy kill for any BB and having a good game can be very conditional but it is the same in any Cruiser. Survivability just isn't something they have going for them, well not until they limit the number of BB's per team to 3 at least. Furu is a very good foretaste on what to expect with IJN Cruisers and plays exactly like her bigger cousins, so it is an excellent teacher. I had quite a few good games in her recently. I think the key to playing Cruiser is to always assume that every BB in the game is targeting you in particular (as Cruiser, you are ALWAYS the priority target for an easy kill) at every moment. If / when you are spotted, you WILL BE instantly targeted by every gun in the enemy team. Remember that they all can one shot you from any range and angle, if they hit and - especially in IJN Cruisers, torpedoes can be your saving grace, when used deftly. HE spam is the way you will do most damage, AP, if you are lucky enough to have a game with many other Cruisers, but that is rare indeed. French Cruisers play kinda like large, very un-stealthy gun DD's with poor armor and very few torpedoes. Germans have a good AP, but that advantage is conditional due to scarcity of other cruisers to target, they also have (well relatively speaking - You still get citadelled a lot by BB's) good armor. Russians are basically flamethrowers with no armor but good speed, they also get radar at higher tiers. USN Cruisers are gunships, fast-firing and again relaticely good armor. IJN? Well, they are excellent and I specialize on them, but they are kinda awkward to play mostly due to poor torpedo firing angles, which may force you to expose your side at very inopportune moments, if you intend to use them. Playing them takes some advance planning and their guns have a good fire chance and damage. British cruisers fire only AP and are made of paper, BUT they do have smoke and torps and are quite agile, very good for killing DD's (unfortunately I have learned this the hard way - I am a DD main myself). The reason why you see so many RN BB's is that they were basically custom-made for the unskilled so that the player need not bother about learning any d*mn tactics (like occasionally switching ammo type etc. "difficult" stuff) but can just spam HE the entire match and still get good results, also their citadels have been sunk lower (almost) below the waterline so they are not so easy to Citadel when compared to others. So that's most of it in a nutshell... Have fun! -
Oh weeel, we recently had a thread, whose OP did not know the difference between the Captain's Radio Location skill and Radar and I frequently bump into players, who mistake Hydro for a Radar as well... So yeah, not at all surprised there.
-
Yupp, was going to be my next point too. Historical accuracy has never been exactly religiously adhered to has it? Hehehe! But in a way that may be a good thing in terms of gameplay and does give the game designers more leeway to get stuff done. I just wish they actually did.
-
I think the only way they could actually do something like that is to create an entirely new MM system and additional ship classes, which would somehow balance / counter-balance each other. For example, so that there would be a ship class for escort carriers (with fewer planes), which would prolly be balanced with or against Cruisers and that Ise would then be included in those rolls or some such to make sure both sides either have roughly equal numbers of planes or that the opposing side, lacking planes, has sufficient available AA strength to deal with them. But with the current 1 CV limitation and rigidly limited MM I cannot see it happening, pretty much for the same reason they are unable to properly balance radar ships between opposing teams. They would have to fundamentally alter the entire game design (especially MM), just to include a ship or 2.
