  1. Thanks @Tyrendian89 and Yes, I do have IFHE. Kinda figured it would be almost mandatory here.
  2. Indeed @Lord_WC good Sir, I have been practicing just that kinda thing (not quite there yet, requires good timing and planning to survive it) but there has been a few successes recently. The issue of every enemy ship instantly focusing on me makes it kinda hare-rasing experience and occasionally very difficult to escape from. Hmmm, come to think of it. Someone did suggest that I could take a steering gears mod instead of more stealth. That could indeed be helpful there.
  3. Exactly so, my friend. But I sh*t my pants every time I find out that all 12 freakin' enemies are actually shooting at me (and this presumably happens every time) and with their barrels red-hot and spamming 156 shells per second straight at my direction. So I decided that indeed Orwell WAS right and ignorance is a bliss. Instead I'll just settle for being a full-time paranoidiac instead of getting a hernia for actually knowing all this to be true. Seems to have worked and the 2 points I invested into Adrenaline Rush instead are paying off methinks. Of course the tradeoff inevitably is the occasional unexpected LOL-pen but I seemed to get them even before anyways, so I guess it might just be a part of a Mogami-life then. I have always been determined to stick to my ultimate goal of being just another deluded fool.
  4. Oh yeah, just to clarify...Playstyle... My typical Mogami game begins like this (after some initial little skulking): Then - Inevitably at some point it goes like this:and continues like this Then, and when frustration piles up sufficiently it ends like this: Chances are 50%/60% of it all ending with a boom or not. Occasionally results are incredibly good, often they are horribly bad, but mostly I'm just mediocre. Though I do hope to keep improving, slowly but surely.
  5. Hhehehe! I can feel your pain dude.. Had some such games myself while in Shima. The worst had also 3 Missouris (in division, the b*aasterds) + a Moskva, Dimitri Donkoi and a Baltimore. With my awesome luck all of them ended up camping juust near the map-end where I was. Luckily, the suffering did not last long.
  6. Heh yeah, @pra3y used to have IFA too, but found that it was wrecking my nerves always going off and stuff (mebbe something wrong with my playstyle always ending up as priority target tho) so I changed the cap skills a bit. On the other hand, my survival rate HAS improved much from the abysmal 20% it was when I started to Mogami so go figure.
  7. Everyone else play Mogami with 155 & IFHE too? well maybe I got that part "right" at the least.. @ollonborre an interesting idea to switch CE for better rudder shift, it never even occurred to me before, but may well be worth it... Because, you know, you have to dodge constantly anyways. I might give it a try... Yeah, brother @Skyllon I have also experimented with speedflag and found it very useful. it also seems it throws off some players, who do not take enough lead and end up just water-spouting in my wake. So that is definitely useful, also good for changing positions to quickly go where you are most needed. Good point. @ShinGetsu noticed the bit about open water after many unfortunate wipeouts (weel, what can I say.. I am a slow learner), truly sucks. Just can't wiggle well enough to avoid the hailstorm of shells. Though the idea of swapping concealment module for better rudder shift is truly intriguing...
  8. @MMASK I WANT TO BE INVINCIBLE!!!
  9. Yes, i can but I think it would still be worth it. MAKE MY MOGAMI GREAT AGAIN!
  10. Yeah. I did have them both at first. But since it seems that I am the priority target EVERY time and the constant ringing of the incoming fire just made me bloody nervous wreck so I got rid of them and took the adrenaline rush instead. So nowadays I just always assume by default to be the priority target if anyone is pointing the same way and keep dodging and wiggling even if it seems like no-one is aiming at me. I have not noticed much change in terms of survival rate (it is still surprisingly high at 46%). I admit that to keep maneuvering even if there seems to be no immediate danger is sometimes frustrating but on the other hand the extra reload speed does help in terms of added damage in the moments before my inevitable demise. I have kinda accepted that in any game with this ship, I WILL take heavy damage at some point so it seemed like a logical choice.
  11. That was my evil scheme to get you in trouble... Though I have a nagging suspicion that you might well turn out to be one too, if ever in the opposing team...

    playin bad on new levels!

Well, since German BB's are made for brawling, secondary build seems optimal for the purpose. I mean, you have to place your bets, where the ship is strongest to get the best out of it right? AA build is only useful, if there is a CV in the game and it happens to go for you, but with so many AA build Gneisenaus in play already, is he going to risk losing many planes just to check?

    playin bad on new levels!

Okies @BlackYeti I will not contest that, perhaps that superstructure-thingy is precisely why I always have the creeping feelin' that "I need more armor", when I take the Schanderhorst out for a walk - Err, swim. Though in fairness, now that I have committed myself into learning how to Mogami. That is the same sinking feeling I get in every God-dam*d game (where the h*ck is my armor???)....

    playin bad on new levels!

Well, Gneisenau is not actually a BB its is a Battlecruiser and you have to keep that in mind. That means relatively bad armor but good speed. It plays very much like a higher tier Kongo or Myogi but has torps so better in that respect. Dispersion is not ideal so make sure to mount the Aiming System Mod to help out with that. brawling is the way to get most damage, but light armor makes it kinda tricky so pick your moment to go in carefully, since no armor though the secondaries are decent. You might want to play her just like a huge Cruiser. Use the speed to change position often and keep moving and when the situation calls for it, get close enough to take full advantage of your torps and secondary power. Due to few main guns, it is quite pointless trying to snipe, you have to seek medium to close range combat as much as possible, where you can actually hit something and do the most damage. So yeah, it does play completely different from any other German BB except maybe Schanderhorst could be close... But of course, I only have Schanderhorst myself and skipped Gneisenau entirely to be honest, so what do I know? Hhehehe! But this just seemed to make the best sense.

    Nürnberg Hit Points

HEEY! Now you're just mean @SeeteufeI ,how come you get a Russian tier 10, while I only get a Nurnberg...? No FAIR!
  16. RAHJAILARI

    Nürnberg Hit Points

Ehh? Er, well even if not retrained when Kurfurst coughs AWAY from Nurnberg, it gets insta-Citadelled and LOL-penned to death 10 times over... I know, I checked - And I never even got as far as Kurfurst... The point being @deBanfield that even 1 tier 6 Destroyer's AP round can easily inflict more damage than the measly 2100 additional HP you get by using up your 3 commander points, that will not extend your life in a game long enough to accomplish anything. Perhaps just for a 1 more reload, max because by the time this HP becomes relevant you are already a one-shot kill to anybody and with Cruiser stealth, escape and disappearing into concealment will be highly unlikely. So you'd be better advised to use those same points on a skill, which allows you to do more damage during the time you stay alive instead.
  17. RAHJAILARI

    Nürnberg Hit Points

Just like he said, no point to use valuable commander points on that skill for a Cruiser. DD is fine and still useful, but anything else seems like a waste. Give it Basic firing training or demolition expert instead.

    Alternative history....what if...

Hood, which is now bafflingly called Tirpitz detonated or torp'd BOTH friendlies and got away? I am confused...

Why doesnt WG like new, casual players?

@Grandorf, my friend... All the ships you mentioned (Kutuzov. Belfast, Nikolai). have a solid reputation of being clearly OP and that is why they were removed from sale. Since the concept of "pay-to-win" is not hugely popular with the players in general. You can have many excellent ships just by "doing the grind" on any ship line and there are still many good premiums available for those wallet-warriors who cannot be bothered.

    Alternative history....what if...

I would hazard-guess an attempted Ram? Or then the Hood just citadelled both friendlies and fled scot-free...

    Dud Torpedos

Hehehe! yeah, I got a near heart-attack in my Myoko once, when a CV, which was clearly stalking a BB to my side unexpectedly dropped his entire torpedo load right on my foredeck. Luckily they did not detonate either so I got off from that one with just some serious jitters and noticeable yellow-brown patches in my pants... Fun stuff.
  22. Hhhehehe, I was gonna say that @Earl_of_Northesk but forgot to. Yup yup and I have to agree with WG here... IT WOULD indeed have made Scahderforster a quite pointless premium, unless of course they were to add some clearly OP consumable or some such (smoke, radar, speedboost, nuke-hydro, Defensive AA anyone?) to justify it.
  23. Well, since I got drunk over X-mas and ended up buying the Schandalholster against all my better (and more sober) instincts, perhaps this comment is irrelevant BUT originally I would have wanted that option for Gneisenau too. I mean why not? Mogami has the option to choose 155mm instead of 203's. Makes perfect sense to me.
