Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.
RAHJAILARI replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
Hhehehe! Yeah, also funny and sad how you can almost instantly guess, which players have just recently transferred from WoT. On the positive side tho, they do provide nice stationary targets to fire at. Well, admittedly best enjoyed while they still remain with the red team tho. -
No-one could have seen this coming right? Except for @RIBY74... BUT anyway, a mysterious and mythical technology called "Backup Server" has been claimed to have been invented already decades ago by an anonymous deranged genius... An urban myth perhaps? Well at the least we were just losing miserably so this totally saved our as*es - Err, I mean bacon. Phew! Hehehe!

Excellent. Phew, so my heavy sacrifice for acquiring her may not be completely in vain then. Thanks for that @Aragathor... ... Uuh craps, still kinda regretting it already tho... I am now grounded until next payday (subject to review on good behavior), condemned to forced labor (dishes every day for a week and vacuum the house) and my beer allowance hes been cut.... OH HUMANITY!

IJN Asashio Revisited (In Preview Mk. 2)
RAHJAILARI replied to Hayashio's topic in General Discussion
Hhehehe! Yeah, the infamous "fog wall"-tactic. Was recently in a game with Mogami, where we had 3 DD's out of 5 going to the same cap with myself an 2 BB's in support. Of course, there was also 3 enemy DD's. Oh well, our guys all smoked up and just sat there in their smokes blinding all of us. Luckily I immediately realized what would happen next, U-turned and hightailed it outta there ASAP behind a well-placed island nearby to wait out the inevitable torpedo wall (apparently a Shima, Yugumo with a torp booster and a Gearing on the other side - based on torp count = 41). Our BB's however were neither so nimble nor so quick and took quite a pounding and so the other one flooded to death right there. Also lost 2 of the DD's and so after that we had no option but just to beat a hasty retreat back towards the rest of the team. Lost the game right there and then. -
IJN Asashio Revisited (In Preview Mk. 2)
RAHJAILARI replied to Hayashio's topic in General Discussion
I think the main problem with this "hide in smoke" theorem is... What IF the enemy knows, you are in an Asashio? He WILL rush your smoke without any concern, because he will know that you have crap guns and no chance of torping him whatsoever? What then I wonder? -
Anyone tested her yet? Is she worth it (well, i bought her just for the looks anyways but...)? Uh oh and buggers..... Approaching alarming muttering sounds. I think wife just realized what I done. I might be f*cked and NOT necessarily the way I'd prefer to. See ya guys later (if I l still ive). CRISIS BREAK!

IJN Asashio Revisited (In Preview Mk. 2)
RAHJAILARI replied to Hayashio's topic in General Discussion
I don't really see the point in giving IJN DW torps in the first place. I mean the IJN regular torps can be spotted so far away that any DD or Cruiser, who is not completely asleep can easily dodge them, if they start evading when the torpedo alarm sounds and even BB's will dodge most every time. Unless, of course - Ultimately this DOES mean that the object of this exercise is to increase the chances of scoring multiple hits on the ONLY targets you are reliably able to hit anyway. Hmmm... -

Yes, likewise, likewise in my case as well. Must be the same feller or do you suppose there are several of those? No way that is possible, it must be the same guy.... Or else I will lose my faith in humanity entirely. -

Hmmmh... I remember 1 similar game myself, also a Shokaku player. Who rushed the enemy by himself like that. Did he run out of planes or just rush them for the heck of it? Any idea? Maybe the same guy - In my case I just assumed he was plastered (late night game). -
Well, Hipper is not that bad in fact. I actually kept her. Sure she has only 8 guns and reload could be faster. BUT the AP is effective even at slightly over 10km ranges, the gun accuracy is not bad either and range is decent (after upgrade, of course) and she is quite nimble. AA is first class and I play her every time it seems like there are going to be lots of CV's around. Torps are good, but of course 6km range only so should be considered purely situational "revenge weapons" for when you have already done and scre*wd it up. Speed is what it is (tad on the slow side tho) but overall it is quite balanced and OK ship.

No worries friend @Excavatus... Just live through it - It will get better.
-
BAH! I'm a total and utter loser guys. Now I've gone and bought her already... Yet another irrefutable proof of the utter depravity and retardation of mankind. She's just too pretty... Gonna have to restrain myself now before the wife realizes what I done with her parlor money.
-
She looks like a handsome ship. Like the camo too... I'll buy her after winning this week's lottery for sure...

Strangely enough while this would be the logical expectation @Capra76, it has in fact never happened, sometimes even the reverse is true - I get complimented. Instead, what happens is that for whatever mythical and inexpiable reasons I tend to get reported most often in matches that we won AND where I had actually thought that I did exeptionally well (it never says, who reported me so this is quite vexing). I have found this phenomena rather puzzling. If anyone has theories, I would be most interested to hear them. I have pretty much given up even trying to understand.

Heh, sure enough @MacFergus one should always keep a bit of humor on board methinks. It gets very boring and salty quite fast, if you start taking all this silliness seriously. You know, kinda like the guy who committed suicide, when the neighbor's dog buried his Legos. I mean, it's not like we actually die or anything, so if it doesn't work out this time, try something new for a change. I often find that changing tier tends to also change my luck. I call it "going back down to my level of competence (or incompetence, opinions on the correct expression vary)". So if tier 10 is not working out for you today, try tier 8, then tier 7,6,5 and so on. Have a couple of funny games to restore the Glee Factor, then go back. If nothing else works, there's always the Farming Simulator or the local pub to distract one from these mundane worries.

Yupp, Nurnburger is at its best when running away from something. I often play her "approach-and-bait"-style so first I sneak as close as i can, U-turn and then wiggle away quickly towards friendlies while plastering every enemy on sight with random salvos (change target often so they won't necessarily bother to focus on you). When far enough, get back to concealment, turn back and then repeat. This a*sbackwards fighting style makes it quite difficult to hunt for DD's tho, but due to her excellent rate of fire you will often manage it quite all-right anyway.
-
Hheheh yeah, I always find it very amusing, when I end up in tier 10 match with a Mogami (well, since I've been playing that ship almost exclusively for 2 months this happens quite often actually) and turn out to be the last player left or even the only one, who survived. Though to be honest Usually this is only by sheer luck tho, due to full points count or time out which saved my hiney or some such - But it all counts. YAY! It's all just fun and games boys and girls, just fun and games, nothing more.

THAAT'S NOTHIING! I had once a losing streak like that which lasted almost 6 weeks, but it eventually turned around. So patience and lots of Valium carries the day in the end. That's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. And in any case, WG can't fix sheer bad luck. Fortunately I have just the thing for this: FIXED IT! Cheers and just carry on.

Well, obviously the Missouri finally got a new cook. perhaps he done and burned a toast or something? OR even worse, asked WG royalties for continued use of his name? -
Nurnberg is pretty much the only 150mm-armed Cruiser I do not have IFHE on, but that is mostly due to reduction in fire chance and nothing more. Also because I find that I get enough damage even without it (4 points is a lot). Not really sure either way tho. Jury is still out for me on this one.
-
I usually pick Hipper, if there are lots of CV's in play. The AA is really good.
-
Well, it citadels both Chapa and Kutuzov pretty well... Atago is tough tho, but has slower gun reload and only half the AA of Hipper. Her torps are far superior tho and of course there is the heal. It is not necessarily the best in her tier. I admit that but it is not hopelessly terrible either.

New players and HIGH TIER PREMIUMS
RAHJAILARI replied to The_Great_SCH's topic in General Discussion
Bwahahaha! Just wait for it @MacFergus my friend, when the new Soviet premiums hit the shop. They seem like the perfect Noob baits with lotsa firepower but too soft to play a Battleship (and inevitably they will be played, as one - The time-honoured curse of Battlecruisers). We will both be right back with this thread in no time at all. Methinks I'll start preparing my comments already in advance... -
I like Hipper. It has reasonably good AP & gun range and excellent AA (well, I have an AA build in it). Somewhat slow, but a nice gunboat all the same. I've kept it.
