I would be perfectly content with some partial tech trees including these ships. Fair enough.

Awww, tut tut tut @eliastion my friend... Are you murdering some poor soul with those horrible, irrefutable, unwanted facts again?

True dat. I play mostly DD and Cruisers myself, but I do have Yamato and a few other BB's too. While some BB's like the German ones, for example, can do very well in close quarters and should even be played that way, many or perhaps most will do better if they keep their distance. I have tested this with Yamato many times, when I tried to figure out the optimal module setup for myself. There is just no way to make that ship a close quarters weapon, the turret traverse, even with all the modules that buff it is still so slow that it is barely possible (or even quite impossible) to track a moving target at ranges any closer than 10km and if you install the modules that increase the reload speed and / or accuracy (the new "Legendary" module) then the situation gets even worse. Also the Yamato seems to be one of the few ships, which still has its citadel above the waterline, which means that you will quickly get plastered by much nimbler ships like Iowa at close ranges. So in order to accomplish anything one has to stay away, unfortunately. This is why I rarely play BB, long range sniping is just not for me - I lack the patience for such. But I do not begrudge BB players for doing that, this is just how they were made to work, for the most part. So BB's are mainly intended for long range support, of course. BUT there are situations when they will also benefit from going closer so situational awareness on part of the player is definitely a huge plus and nothing actually prevents a BB from supporting a capping party even from 15-20km away. So that is fair enough for me. Unfortunately there are also those BB players, who are purely campers with no eye for the game situation and who consequently just play their own separate game. Shooting at random targets, whichever direction their guns happen to be pointing at and providing no useful support to their own team's effort, while blaming them for getting killed early.. Whenever the friendly team has a few of those, the result will almost inevitably be a loss. Well, barring those situations where the enemy manages to be even more inept that we are. Luckily there are always plentiful opportunities for that to happen too. Hehehe! All that said, I can see why "BB Camping" at the beginning of the game (BUT definitely not the entire game pls guys), even when well justified is often frowned upon by other players. After all with the current BB overpopulation it leads to situations where nearly half of the team consists of BB's, with a couple of Cruisers providing inviting target practice and 4-5 DD's thrown into the mix just to make sure those Cruisers stay spotted at all times. Perhaps also an occasional CV to boot. Things can get very heated, especially for Cruisers, when you are outnumbered by BB's and have 3 or 4 bloody enemies shooting at you simultaneously while our own are still some 15 km away. Those are the times, when a few friendly salvos from our own BB's would certainly restore some much needed faith in humanity - Even if they happen to come from 30 km away. Oh weeel, I'll be in the thick of it again next weekend lads, so see you there. Backup will certainly be much appreciated.

Legendary Modules - A missed oportunity
RAHJAILARI replied to Gojuadorai's topic in General Discussion
Well, the 3 tier 10 ships I have are: Yamato, Des Moines and Shima... Lessee how this pans out... 1) Yamato, taking the legendary module just means that I would have to camp even harder at 30km and never approach the front line, as it slows down already glacial turret traverse so much that they might as well be welded to the deck thus making it impossible to track and shoot at any target at closer quarters (this is already Yamato's greatest weakness by far). 2) Des Moines... Well it makes the thing more agile sure, but to what purpose? DM already performs well enough (with improved rudder shift) in terms of agility and speed for a CA and will never make a very good destroyer anyway. Would rather keep the extra radar time, thank you. 3) Shima = MEH! Utter rubbish. Makes torp tubes nearly stationary as well as risks having them incapacitated all the time when in close quarters and so forces me to only fight from long range. I prefer close range combat with any DD, because > More assured torp hits = Better result. A tad slower reload in exchange for more hits then, I'd rather have the hits I guess. I'm guessing I will not be mounting any of these then. So much for the "Legendary". Sigh! Perhaps, IF these "Legendary Modules" were made so they actually addressed the most galling weaknesses of each ship instead of making them more pronounced, for example, making Yamato's turrets turn much faster or the like? Might be more useful & popular that way. They could have been used to enable alternative playstyle instead of just re-enforcing the sameold boring sameold.. Just thinking.... -
Oh damn, you're right....So they did - Totally forgot that.
-
One trick you can use with Mikasa... Use HE instead of AP for main guns against most ships so you will not get over-penetrations. Will kill most DD instantly. Also many of the Cruisers actually take more damage that way. You will need to make sure you have at least a 10 point captain and take both the basic and advanced firing training skills to maximize secondary range and effect, also mount the " Mike Yankee Soxisix " signal flag, if you got them for a bit more buff to those secondaries. But yeah, you are totally right, Mikasa does need some love... Oh yeah, you are totally right @Aragathor
-
You done and nailed it eh? But you are absolutely right, had the same qualms myself before but nowI am a content member of just such a Non-Involved-Couch-Clan myself, would in fact never have joined, if all that was actually required. Hhehehe! Well said. @Gojuadorai

Aaahhhaah, Okili dokili then. Thanks for the explanation guys! We will see what happens then.

Ehhh, I may be stupid BUT this has to be asked... What's the point of even having Oil, if one does not belong to a Clan of some sort? I mean, it is not like we could actually use it for something right?
-
Indeed, they have only done that out of the goodness of their hearts and because they are true humanitarians. All the proceeds go to aid homeless children and to provide food for the hungry. And they are doing all that just to make us happy. YAY!

Hhehehe! Yeah @Aotearas I do remember 1 game in particular, where I was dodging and weaving like crazy about 6 or 7 minutes into the game and I somehow got the impression that the enemy fire was even heavier than usual, when everyone and their dog and Granma + half the galaxy is shooting at you (just because everyone really, really loves Mogami - I guess). So I was agonizing and remember yelling: "Dammit, don't they have ANYONE else to shoot at ?"... Well, it turns out they didn't, somehow amid all the ongoing panic I had missed the ominous "You are our last hope"-notification. I have no idea what had happened, but suddenly the entire team had just melted. Mercifully the game ended soon after, when they got their points full and somehow I survived (was within an inch or just a half but it all counts). Kinda like a perverted version of Powerpuff Girls, the movie where we got only the "Puff" while they gots all the power. Sorry for the mental image guys, but we got my niece's baby daughter on loan so I get to watch unexpectedly lot of that crap...

Happens all too often... I found myself facing the question "Do we go A or D" in 2 Brothers Map (strangely I spent nearly half the weekend on that same effin' map, Ad Nauseam) several times last weekend. Of course I suggested we do both, but not always successfully. Though it must be said, that we mostly won when we did go equally for both caps. Lemmingtrain then? Well it did work, but only once or twice, when the enemy was even more incompetent than we were. Of course, it also turned out that I was be a complete Noob for even daring to suggest such an outrage (that we contest both) - Oh well, that can't be helped I guess. But overall it was not too shabby a weekend for me anyways so nevermind then. I still have a lot to learn apparently. There was 1 hilarious game (which we lost in the end) in which I capped every one of the 4 caps once during the game and the B-cap twice. While our respective lemmings were racing in a circle around the 2 main islands chasing each other. Somehow, we managed to lose it even while we had more ships, simply because the enemy DD was quicker than me and so managed to re-cap faster than me (was in Fubuki at the time and the enemy had a Russki DD so I decided to avoid a gunnery duel), both sides had 2 DD's in the beginning but lost 1 each quite early on. Also the rest of their team, slowing our Lemmings down were way more effective than we were at defending any of the caps we had just taken (because we didn't)... Was so frustrated I couldn't decide whether to bang my head on the wall or die laughing.
-
Yeah, also it might actually promote even more passive gameplay with the opposing team (the one with bigger numbers) just happy passively sitting in their smokes, capping instead of trying to actively chase the other side out of the cap circle.
-
Oh, the sweet innocence and idealism of youth... Just because doing something would be agonizingly stupid has never stopped anyone from trying it and even more unfortunately also the reverse holds true... So just because doing something would be absolutely brilliant, it does not mean that anyone would actually be interested. We can verify this daily by merely watching the news. Hehe! You still have much to learn, young one. This is because according to the latest Scientific Evidence, 90% of mankind has already been infiltrated by Morons from Outer Space.

Proposal on how to improve stats, gameplay and economy
RAHJAILARI replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
By the powers vested in me I hereby award thee @Jethro_Grey May all your future efforts be equally blessed. -
Definitely true dat. I did try the Steel Ocean before. Very similat to WOWs, but has IJN Ise, Tone, Kitakami and subs added - All ships I would like to see in this game too, but haven't so I considered switching. Though their Submarine mechanics were good and worked just fine (a definite + over Wows) there were several things in that game, which overwhelmingly convinced me to stay in WOWs instead. These were: 1) The lack of variety in battle maps. One does get quickly tired of grinding the same 1 or 2 maps over and over again. 2) When a player gets killed, they just re-spawn again up to 3 times per battle. This is just plain silly. 3) Team sizes were too small. I play Wows because I am actually interested in ships and would prefer FLEET ACTION, so the bigger the teams, the more I will like it. Their teams are limited to 6 ships per side, which is just ridiculous (same reason why I prefer randoms to ranked, coop and such). 4) It has Premium Ammo and without it you just cannot get decent results. Well said, my friend.... @Procrastes
-
HELL NO! Will stop playing immediately, if that happens. One of the main reasons, why I play Wows and not Steel Ocean, is that there is none that premium ammo BS. It is one of the few saving graces of this game.

Winrate on stats - how is this even possible?
RAHJAILARI replied to Ukio's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, after all. Who would bother watching his videos, if his account showed "only" 52% winrate or some such or other horrible thing? "Winning" sells after all and lets every potato imagine that he can do the same if he could just "steal" a few more tips. Hhehehe! -
Winrate on stats - how is this even possible?
RAHJAILARI replied to Ukio's topic in General Discussion
Statpadders Lad, Statpadders... Some of my friends have done that too, because they feel that the overall current winrate of 52% (because they totally potato'd 5000 games already and so cannot easily improve it) is too low for proper boasting. So they opened another account just so they could justify extensive bragging rights and show off a bit. Of course, I still remember their embarrassing "Total Potato Years" and have made it my special mission to keep the lads well reminded of the fact at all times. Hheheheh! -
Simply put @MrConway... PLEASE change the vague, useless and bloody idiotic F7: "I need intelligence data" to something frequently needed and infinitely more useful, namely to: "Defend Base!" ASAP.
-
Precisely, for me it only works if I am roughly in gun range and pretty much never unless there is direct visual view of the cap (no major mountains masking the floating cap marker). Therefore it would be much more beneficial (and quicker) to have just 1 key to press, which would directly spell it out so everyone (even potatoes amongst us) can understand. It may also be, that I am in a tight spot (like defending the said base without any help) at the time and as such will be unable (or it would be unwise) to change focus until I can actually point at the cap marker and click on it. This would be a quick and relatively fool proof solution (yea, I know there will always be the one, who is even more foolish but trying to think positive here...).
-
Not always possible, if I am too far from it, but notice that no-one is defending while enemies are getting close to entering it (of course, such an unthinkable situation may never happen again but).
-
Thanks, fixed it now...
