Yupp, sadly Colonello here is quite right. You have to stop doing the actual Cruiser stuff (hunting down or supporting DD's), camp behind the battleships and spam HE from maximum distance. Not particularly fun or useful to the team, but it works. But you can still shoot at DD's on occasion, if one accidentally bumps into you or something, it's still not actually against the rules, just neither rewarding nor healthy.

Uhoh, riggedi-diggedi... Totally forgot about that one . Thanks for mentioning it, looks like no outing for my Kagerou next weekend then.

Welcome to the club dude. Here are mine: All this in a Mogami. Overall, a very discouraging enterprise. But it'll get better... Last time the losing streak lasted for a solid 3 weeks straight so this is nothing. Someday and with enough applied doping it'll recover. Perhaps.

HHHEEY! Missus??? The travesty. What happened to Stormy and the Hot Russian chicks? Or is that just for dessert then?

Ditto! Yesterday the enemy had 13 radars against our 1 and I was a lone DD in a Wakatake... WAH!

    Is Edge Surfing Ever OK?

A good question Lad... @Up_The_Donald To be honest I don't really know, since I've never dunnit myself. Always figured it would be better to be right in the middle so I can get there quicker and participate in the action better, wherever needed but I guess there are other philosophies to this too. Also depends on the ship. Yamato suffers in close range combat due to atrocious turret traverse (made even worse by some modules) and high citadel so i understand if they stay a bit further away but there are BB's which are better suited to close support too, so I guess it would largely depend on the ship and the map. Though there are players, who are simply gun-shy or something, but let's put those aside for now...

    What to do?

Hiya Dutch! Welcome to the forum, right place for advice, though it can be brutal. Take it the right way and we can help you out though. Best thing to do now is to take a serious look at your personal stats (as I am doing right now) and see in which ships and tiers you have been doing well and in which you have not been so successful. This will surely help to unlock the knot a bit. Now lessee here... BTW, you can use this site to check them yourself: https://wows-numbers.com/player/502075551,Dutchreaper/ Simply put, check from there what ships you did well in and play them some more. It is more fun and educational. To start with, it seems you have committed the usual cardinal error of trying to advance up the tiers way too quickly. Slow down the phase a LOT and take your time to improve before you go up the tiers, the game and maps will get progressively harder the higher you go and at your current level you will just get butchered ever so often and lose more games than you care to count. This is not a game bug, but means that you are not yet ready for the higher tiers. That is nothing to worry about you'll get there but you will have to put some 3000 more games into it, so no hurry. Your scores fall drastically after passing tier 4, so it would be best to return back to that tier and practice some more. Do not move up the tier until you pass the 50% mark with flying colors. That will only make you an average player like myself, but it is a start and a lot less discouraging than getting killed and losing every game. As for ships, try to find your "Own" ship line, you are currently just fluttering quite aimlessly trough any and all kinds of ships and consequently have no focus or expertise in any of them. This needs to change so you can get a head start. Your scores in a Battleship seem to be considerably higher than any other ship class so it might make sense to primarily stick with them for the time being. Tirpitz seems OK so you might give it a go from time-to-time and you were doing good in Bayern, so stick with the German BB line for now. Learn how to play Gneisenau and Schanhorst. Once you master those you will do well in Bismarck also. Of course, this does NOT mean that you should not try any other shiplines ever, of course you should. Knowing what other ships can do will also improve your gameplay and as a BB player you should definitely become familiar with DD play or else you will be subject to eating excessive amounts of torps every game you play. Pick a DD line and learn to play them adequately so you can understand what they can and cannot do, this will help you to become much more effective BB player also (since you'll live longer that way). It also will not hurt to check the Cruisers out, this will help you to deal with them better, when facing those in the game. Live and learn and you'll git good, no worries. Oh yeah and the "Curse of the First 4 matches" then? Oh well, happens to me every time I fail to wake myself up properly before starting, so have your cereals and coffee before playing to make sure your brain is properly booted up. Also you might wanna look at how many players are in the game server and what time it is before beginning the day's grind. And of course, if the queue shows there are 120 BB, 5 DD's, 2 Cruisers and 1 CV in waiting, it is perfectly legit to change your ship to the type, which is not overflowing in the queue (from BB to Cruiser or DD, for example). This will let you get into the game quicker and perhaps result in more favorable MM overall. @Dutchreaper

Yeah, there was a happy ending to this sorry tale though. Since loudly moaning about all the aggravation helped me to gain enough sympathy points with my wife so she gave me extra allowance to claim another 6 pack of Beer for the evening to compensate. So then life was all goood!

Yeeah, heheh. There are the ship haters, of course. Was once first trolled in the chat by someone, who absolutely hated Shimas (apparently 1 too many torps to the head methinks) and when I ignored him and did not raise to the bait, he then torp'd me (he was in Zao right behind me) and when by some miracle I survived that he then gunned me down (TK'd me) right in the middle of capping B in Warriors Path map - I was hiding behind the island at the time because I had been Radar'd by the enemy and it seems this was a cowardly act to compound my other objectionable sins + it seems I had somehow deliberately gotten myself torp'd by him = So it was all totally justified. He then announced that he had reported me for "Unsporting Behavior" because I had quite deviously and unfairly "Made him Pink". Oh My! I am truly ashamed of myself... Somehow, amidst all the ongoing confusion, we did manage to lose the game in under 10 minutes too.

AWW, don't be like that friend. I suddenly gained 11 points last weekend without doing anything awesome at all (really, I have absolutely NO idea why). So it's all good now. Of course, it may all change soon, once I start losing them again. Hehehe!

    MM, genuinely concerned now chaps

Weel, having worked (and still do) for a major corporation, which for purposes of personal security shall remain unnamed, for the last 10 years. I must admit that I have the same problem with this theory than I have with the proposition of sk. "Intelligent Design" and / or any and all other conspiracy theories. Namely that all of them require that there should first be some actual, verifiable and pre-existing INTELLIGENCE in order for that kinda thingy to be envisioned, planned and executed and all my experience has only managed to produce so far is the irrefutable and undeniable evidence of the absence thereof. Sadly or perhaps luckily every single corporation on this planet and possibly the entire Universe is Managed by Drunken Lemurs, who will struggle to even get a change of socks on by themselves and who could not possibly neither conceive nor execute any such plan ever, so we are quite safe lads. Everything that happens is just result of the plain ole' usual human idiocy, of which there is an inexhaustible supply.

I once got reported by a charging enemy Bismarck player for quite unsportingly and cowardly torp'ing him while hiding in smoke just 4km away. He apparently had not heard of a Hydro yet and besides, who could guess there might be an enemy DD in a smoke - Who does that kinda thing anyway? I admit the charge.

    MM, genuinely concerned now chaps

Had an educational game just yesterday with a mate of mine in tier 5 ships. Furu and Revolutsiya... We had a regular Ranger with a potato player but a decent team and the enemy team had apparently an unicum Saipan with a potato team. Oh well, I got to observe the game early on, as luck would have it the Saipan was in our end of the map, while Ranger provided us no cover I got blapped almost instantly (he obviously knew which ships have poor AA - I mean it is quite futile to even try downing any of Saipan's planes with Furu's AA) with my division mate following closely behind and so on. The Saipan methodically reduced our entire flank to wreck in quite a short order and somehow also found time to go after and torp the poor Ranger right where he had spawned as well - All within the first few minutes. We did manage to win the game eventually, as the rest of their team consisted of utter twits, but that was just by a hair, had the game lasted 2 more minutes longer he would have finished off the last 2 survivors from out team for sure (time ran out with his torps just 10 meters from our Schanhorst's side and with our Belfast in 152 HP left). But yeah, that was actually one of the very few cliffhanger matches we had all weekend. Most were rather sadly lopsided one way or the other and felt kinda like a waste of time regardless on which side I found myself on. If on losing side, nothing much can be done to reverse the fortunes (especially in a CV game, since the better CV ALMOST always decides the match). And if on winning side the game is over before you even got a chance to do much. Played Mogami with small guns and a Hydro-AntiDD-combo most games, so that might have something to do with it also tho, since we had mostly CV games all weekend.

    'playerbase *Edited & balancing?

No no, my friend.. Quite the contrary, my potato-self was quite ingenious and highly intelligent. But of course absolutely sucked at WoWs as the opposite to current me, who is somewhat better at Wows, but otherwise senile / braindead...@invicta2012

Balance problem division vs no division

Yeah, I heard it is good and several of my friends are using it. As for me, I did think about it but so far have been too lazy to make the effort to adjust. And of course, the constant agony of updating it... Maybe I will bother to give it a try one of these days, once out of this all-consuming lethargy.

Heey! happened tro me once also. We won by capping but the team had wanted to "kill them all" - Nevermind that we only had a couple of minutes left and no-one had any idea of where the enemy actually DD was (not to mention that I just could not see How a Kaiser and a New York might magically catch up to one - Presumably heading for our base)... Hehe, it happens.

    Players with hidden stats

Yeah, it can even be detrimental in fact. I remember 1 game recently. Where someone in our team told us in chat that the enemy tem's average winrate is 52% and ours is 60% so we should win... No idea where he got that anyways. But the point is, we very nearly lost the damn thing. We won in the end but it was one o0f the closest games of the day, AND in the end we won just by pure luck (their last ship detonated just when the end countdown was winding down, if not they would have won by points).
  21. Hmmm. That might be an idea to be tested during the next Halloween even. I am sure.

    Mikasa is lackluster!

Indeed, my thoughts exactly. Sadly the game itself and consequently perhaps ultimately also its overall popularity will suffer because of that. Oh well, if we get lucky someone else will eventually release a warships game which actually covers the entire period from pre-dreadnought era to WW2, which would be ideal. Yeah, paper ships are necessary to fill the gaps of course and poor Yamato would certainly be quite lonely at tier 10 all by its lonesome. I have no problem having them in the game, but would really be more interested in seeing more historical ships included. I think the current limited tier structure actually prevents that from happening. Of course, also MM would be easier with more tiers resulting in less radical strength increases between tiers, which might be an improvement overall. With a bit more flexibility we could have ships like this, for example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_cruiser_Rurik_(1906) Russian Battlecruiser Rurik Armament: 4 × 10 in (250 mm) guns (2 × 2) 8 × 8 in (200 mm) guns (4 × 2) 20 × 4.7-inch (120 mm)/50 guns (20 × 1) 4 × 1.9 in (47 mm) guns, 2 × 18 in (457 mm) torpedo tubes

    Weekend warriors part XXCIV

Yupp, you can blame the current problems on World Cup and when that's over we'll come up with some other excuse. Hehehe1 But yeah, it is painful sometimes. Just play earlier during the day or wait until later, when they're all passed out is my advise.
  24. RAHJAILARI

    Mikasa is lackluster!

Yeah, they should have made this game with 15 tiers at least. Actually quite strange that they didn't, as Imperial Russia had a large, diverse and very interesting fleet of excellent ships all the way to WW1 that could have been included that way. Would be much more interesting than just additional paper ships we keep getting for high tiers anyways.
