Any news about upcoming tech trees?

Oh yeah, that could be it. Totally forgot those 2 already. I am interested in both actually. Mayhap Agano too. WOHOU!

    Premium ships

Well, I one-shotted a broadside New York in a Fuso once... It is not OP nor is it premium (it IS a tier 6 tho, I give you that) and I reaally suck, as a BB player. So in conclusion you must have bungled somewhere along the line there. If we knew the situation better (pls explain more) or saw a game replay, we could probably help you out with a few gameplay tips tho.

That might be British Carrier line tho? It would make more sense to me at the least.

    RADAR

Yeah, I agree... For this reason I have actually proposed before that rather than remove manual drops, it might be a better idea to re-engineer the drop mechanism so that using manual drops, would boost close range AA (med and long still the same) effectiveness by let's say 50%, thus making the average DD AA more effective in defending against those and improving the auto-drop so it would be more accurate and could be used, as a sort of medium-distance drop against heavily AA defended targets (it would reduce AA effectiveness by only considering ship's mid-and long rage AA) thus allowing CV's to save some planes for late-game, if used correctly and against the right targets while still able to score hits. This would also mean that CV's would no longer be the exclusively anti-DD weapon they are now (well, they would still spot them, so fair enough) but would also have the incentive to engage other targets as well as being able to survive heavy AA to some extent at the least. I also suggested that a CV's plane type should not depend on the ship itself, but rather the tier being played, so all CV's in a tier 8 match should mount the faction's tier 8 planes regardless of the CV ship's own tier. This would help low tier CV's counter the higher tier ones on equal terms even without mirrored MM. granted they would still be the underdogs due to less plane reserves. It would also mean that lower tier CV's could be just as effective agains high tier targets and not immediately get butchered by their AA. Of course prems like Kaga and Saipan could possibly still retain their "special character" simply by possessing their -+1 tier planes when compared to stock CV planes. I think this kinda approach would actually solve many of the issues with CV's currently and mayhap also make them more popular.

    RADAR

That might actually be a good idea. However I think the reason why there's less call for it in terms of threads is that the game smoke and citadel mechanics remains the same throughout the game from tier 1 to 10 and do not change in any way therefore allowing everyone to get used to their principal idea. For example, if you know how to dodge torps in low tiers the same maneuver works exactly as well in high tiers too = no complains. In case of radar, this is not the case as it adds a new, previously non-existent dimension and fundamentally changes the basic principles on how the DD's should be played. In low tiers there is no radar as we all know, nor any other mechanism (even hydro), which would prepare DD players to get used to the idea and to learn how to deal with them. Therefore, when at tiers 5 and up the sudden appearance of radar completely changes the whole DD gameplay and you begin having more and more radars to deal with. The same tactics, that worked well before and even allowed you to secure wins and caps for your team instead will get you immediately killed. This sudden change will naturally cause immense frustration (pretty much the same thing that happens in CV's when you suddenly have to learn manual drops now or perish in flames), hence all the threads on both of these topics.

Ehh? We have rulez? What blasphemy is this? But Okili Dokili then... Step aside lads, Uncle will show you nippers how it be done all right an' proper. Target acquired: @Sturmtiger_304 BY GOD! I HAVE SEEN A FLATULENT SKUNK SITTING ON A HEDGEHOG SHOOTING STRAIGHTER THAN THIS SAILOR!!! NOW HUT HUT HUT!! GO RIGHT BACK AND DO IT AGAIN UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT PRIVATE! Yamato/musashi AA buff

Oh yeah, absolutely right there. Did not mean it is a good idea, just that it is possible to do something about it. Yamato's biggest real weakness was the AA in real life so I do not think that should actually be artificially changed. Optimal build is to use those modules for gun upgrades instead. I would not mind some improvement in terms of citadel positioning and / or protection tho so Yama could go a bit closer to action, but perhaps that's just me, hehehe! @SHDRKN4792

    Yamato/musashi AA buff

Hmmh @Oderisson, you can actually already buff their AA by quite a bit on your own, if you really want to, by just choosing the upgrades: AA Guns Modification 2 and AA Guns Modification 3... Also can choose catapult fighter instead of spotting aircraft and possible to spec your cap accordingly with BFT and AFT and the Direction Center for Catapult Aircraft for the extra fighter. OR even experiment with Manual Control for AA. You will get quite an impressive AA indeed.

One specifically helping new players cope with Radar, for example? What an awesome idea!

Good ship. You can still do the gunboat stuff BTW. That is what these ships excel at (USN DD), just do it while constantly moving so while capping. Your first concern is to live through the radars. Prepare to run, fire your torps at the nearest smoke, get out of radar range then turn back again and you will have 3 minutes to spot and obliterate their DD in the cap with your guns. Of course, now that you have an idea where their radar ship is position your approach so that he cannot shoot at you without leaving his cover. Perhaps you can approach from the direction of the island he is using for cover so he cannot fire at you directly. This totally works, if the island is high enough and close to cap, also shields you from being spotted even if you get quite close (it is nerve-wrecking sometimes tho). You can use your smoke to break up the contact if you fired your guns and also to cover the approach of your allies nearer to cap. All this depends on what DD you have opposing you thouhg, so change your tactics accordingly. Always remember to recruit a Cruiser to back you up before attempting a cap. Get your Cap trained up-to par and all modules and upgrades installed asap tho. Fully effective CE skill is a must-have. Happy Wabbit Season and keep in mind - Positioning, best defense is to be where the shells are not:

No worries, this guy is kosher - We already checked. We expect big things out of @Cyberfounder in the near future, big things (no pressure, of course). So advise away. But yeah, I share the feeling. Have thought about just copying my responses to repeating topics like this one as well as the one about MM and a few others to notepad. Then just paste the same sh*it every time.

    RADAR

No problem. With these tips you can get started at the least and refine your own tactics too. Just always keep in mind. be patient, it helps no-one if you are dead so frequently and bravely just running away must become your second nature now. You can always double back later for a rematch after the radar is spent (so basically 30 sec later is fine, hehehe). So keep that in mind and prioritise your survival first. once that is mastered, you can start with the nitty-gritty of figuring out how to get some caps and damage too. No worries.

    RADAR

Hhehehe! @Cyberfounder Welcome to high tier DD play lad! We're glad to have you. A few tips may be in order, because you will have to radically adjust (read: change) your gameplay in order to survive from now on. 1) Do not rush to cap. The moment you enter the cap circle and they see it changing color, the nearest radar Cruiser will pop it on and you will be toast. Instead "BAIT" the radar. So enter the cap only with the express purpose of getting the radar ship to fire it up, then U-turn, kite away and escape to safety beyond its spotting range. It helps a lot, if you anticipate this happening and make sure you are already partially turned around before you get hit by radar so the running away part goes smoother and faster too. So you have to think of your game plan in advance and make sure you are prepared to kite the heck outta there right away. Exception to this rule is, if there is an opportune island in the cap circle you can shelter behind, but even this does not always work (when faced with US Cruisers with high gun arcs), so running away until it is safe to return is often the better option. Do the same when faced with several radars, only MUCH more often and carefully. Also, do not be tempted to go into the middle of the cap zone but remain at the friendly back-edge of it, you can cap from there AND when a radar lights you up, you can also easily escape out of its range. Most radar ranges are just barely enough to cover the cap circle itself so the radar ship cannot follow you far without going out of cover and risking to get shot up by your ever-watchful allies nearby (hopefully). 2) Do your homework and learn the radar ranges of every radar equipped ship there is. As much as possible, avoid getting within range unless you are sure they have used it already. On the other hand, the radar's cooldown times are quite long, upwards of 3 mins usually, so once they have been expended - It is during those times you can approach and torp the ba*stard, ask your team to assist in taking them down quickly (F3 is a great helper in this). Oh yeah, keep in mind radar does not help spotting incoming torps and if the radar range is 9,5km and your torp range is 10, you know what that means right? http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Consumables#Surveillance_Radar 3) ALWAYS keep track of what they are and where the enemy radar ships are positioned. Do not go to their immediate vicinity unless covered by an island and supported by other ships. Try to keep track of when and how many times they have used their radars because once they are all used-up they are just regular Cruisers and many are quite squishy to boot. 4) ALWAYS make sure you have backup available to engage a radar ship. So learn "How to play Fleet" and do not stray too far from friendly Cruisers or BB's by yourself (scout for them instead). Oh yeah and forget about sitting in smoke capping, that will get you killed pronto. Keep moving and be ready to dodge at moment's notice. 5) Anticipate their positioning. Radar Cruisers like to park behind islands near or in-between 2 cap circles on either side, usually in-between 2 caps is best, that way they can spot both caps for the price of one. Even if you have not directly seen them yet, it makes sense to expect them to have made their way to those locations. Plan your course and evasive actions accordingly and as far away from those points as reasonable (not to the ends of earth, of course, just on the edge of their radar range is fine). And if possible, make sure not to go to a position where you end up in a cross-fire from 2 sides. I hope this helps. Enjoy!

Could we just delete the radar

Well, yeah technically speaking we could of course lad. It is just a bit of code after all. BUT realistically, we are not gonna do it anyway (and by "we" I of course mean WG). So perhaps it would be more productive to focus on trying to figure out ways to change and/or deal with it better instead.

    Rituals before WoWs session

A good point... No reason to get it jinxed right away now is there?
  20. RAHJAILARI

    Rituals before WoWs session

Well, Ideally: 1) Feed the cat so he will sleep the rest of the day. 2) To eliminate catastrophic disruptions, lure wife and kids out of the house. Failing that, find a remote, flooded cave and trap them inside an air pocket. Note to self: Do not be tempted, remember to let them out after the gaming. 3) Disable the phone, telegraph and all other wired or wireless communications. 4) Make lots of chocolate and strong coffee available at arm's reach. 5) Do numbers 1 and 2 before playing. 6) If evening, ensure availability of beer and snacks. 7) Barricade the door (heavily). 8) Make sure the arthritic finger is still working and practice your curses. READY... NOW CHARGE! RAAH!!!! -> insert "wwwwwwww" into team chat... PS. Failing any or all of these, ragequit and blame the sucky Noob team in the event of inevitable disaster.

    American collection duplicates

Weel, you know. Rampant inflation, trade war, general impeding Doom, climate change, drought and all those poor kids stuck in a cave - This all combined with the knock-on effects of Brexit, Trump, pickled herrings and the price of corn. And of course the poor, poor, impoverished shareholders of WG starving out in the cold, begging for alms at the street corners for a bowl of soup. How could we say no? WE HAD TO DO SOMETHING!!! And this is it.
  22. RAHJAILARI

    Kagero any good?

Yupp, Colonello is absolutely correct. Cossack's Surface Detectability range is 6,49km so Kagerou can spot her a comfortable 1,09km away and even with a CE skilled Cap this would still be some 5,84km. No worries there, Kagero will remain the concealment queen yet.
  23. RAHJAILARI

Thaat's nothiiing lad! Was in a game on Saturday with pretty much the same lineup except that we had only an Asashio and a Khabarovsk for DD's, while they gots themselves 2 real DD's. We lost by a huge margin and never managed more than 1 cap (and even that only because the enemy initially left it uncontested - Of course, they later capped that too, as soon as their DD's got around to it). Luckily it was just 1 game.
  24. RAHJAILARI

    Kagero any good?

Dunnoh lad... Had a game in a TRB Kagerou yesterday with 174k damage, 1 cap, 3 kills - First Blood, Confederate and High Caliber awards... It could be good, decent or just plain awful, but I guess in the end it depends on how you use it. You decide. Oh yeah AND I am only an average player myself, many could do even better... Pros compared to Akatsuki: 1) You can get TRB and produce an undodgeable dread wall of torps. 2) MUCH better concealment (by 1km). You will spot anything coming your way first. 3) More powerful semi-nucular torps. 4) Good practice for tier 9 Yugumo, which is essentially just a buffed-up Kagero with slightly worse concealment and improved guns (still IJN guns tho, so it is not saying much, mind you). Cons: 1) Considerably slower, use speedflag always. 2) If using smoke instead of TRB = Much less torps but easier time contesting or running away from caps. 3) Same IJN MEH guns. Remember to spec your Cap with TAE & "Superintendent". Hope this helps.

    Remember X marks the spot?

Yupyup, I know the feeling, for I too usually just end up complimenting the plucky enemy player instead. Just because our own delinquent happened to be so bloody annoying. Hehehe! But, of course, handily I AM my own evil twin.
