Yupp, has happened to me also. Luckily only once recently (last week or so). Nice to know I am not alone there. But hey, shared happiness is double the happiness right?
-
Luckily I have no credit card so no worries either and a general lack of interest in USN ships (this is what made it so puzzling) would prevent me from doing any such foolishness anyways. Now IF it had been a particularly awesome IJN ship like Tone or Ise... THEN it might have been possible, though still unlikely (I am a cheapskate on all things, except for beer) - Unless on x-mas, when I traditionally allow myself 1. So yeah, I tend to lean towards the alternative theory (an Atlanta mission, I did not notice) presented by @Miessa3
-
Oh buggers! That's way too many perfectly good beer keg opportunities wasted for my liking (besides of the fact that i don't wan Salem anyway. Why would I? I have a DM already). Guess I'll just shtick to earning my coal the old fashioned way - By playing.
-
Strangely, somehow I appear to have Atlanta. Though I do not remember buying it ever and I have absolutely no idea, how, why or when that might have happened (I have only ever bought just a couple of prems from the shop). But hey! A free ship, so hoooray then!!
-
Not to worry dude - Just ignore the pest. I for one think that it is good that someone attempts to do this. I hope you can share your findings with us at some point. Would be most interested to see them from an objective point of view. You have my allegiance for the project anyways, heheheh! Of course, I am a MUCH worse archer and could not hit a barn - Even when locked inside of it, so let's hope that kind of thingy won't be needed, but otherwise...

copy-paste of "mouses-angry-youtuber-reviews-of-ijn-destroyers"

One cannot but agree with these assessments all the way. The IJN "Gunboats" tend to be quite MEH big time and the absence of DefAA in Akitsuki is indeed quite absurd (it could have been interchangeable with TRB, for example). WG does not seem to have any kind of concept in mind, as to what exactly should be the "characteristics" required of a gunboat and / or a Torpedoboat. So as a result both lines are an annoying mixed bag. For example, Shiratsuyu is quite a horrible gunboat, but with TRB it makes a decent TB though while its TB counterpart Akatsuki is definitely the better gunboat of the 2. As for Mutsuki vs Minekaze, oh well fair enough, Mutsuki does have the bigger, badder torps and rubbish guns. As for Hatsu, only a fool would actually try to duel other gunboats with it.. Ever, so that only makes it a rather unsatisfactory TB and in any case its gunpower is pretty much the same than Fubuki anyway. Mayhap, if the distinction would be that the TB's (at tiers 7 and up) would have access to TRB (with possible exception of Akitsuki, who prolly badly needs it) with TB's being the stealthier but slightly slower DD's and MEH guns while the Gunboats should actually be faster, perhaps less stealthy but still passable, decent torps and MUCH improved gun reload. At the least this would make more sense to me than the current Mixed Salad. -
@WG Can we have a special captain called Chuck Norris?

Nope. That would give a totally unfair advantage to USN ships. -
Dude, you are doing it all wrong. In these cases, it is TRADITIONAL to claim SKILL every time. It is RNG only, if you happen to miss.
-
True - that had occurred to me too, that is why I would prefer a Mogami or an Ibuki or some such over an USN CL, because you can always simply stop shooting, when in poor health and just become a Torpedoboat instead. Of course, ideally all enemy DD's should be dead for best effect but it still works just as long as they keep chasing you around. US CL's have the misfortune of not having that option (or some other emergency survival mechanism like smoke, speedboost or awesome concealment to allow you to escape, when in tight spot - Also not particularly fast either) which makes them much more vulnerable.
-
Yeeah @Negativvv, I was also once insta-blapped in a Mogami from something like 19km away by an unusually devious and unsporting Montana, when I temporarily forgot to wiggle for just a minute due to no immediate close range threats (within 15km), was still spotted tho after firing and the lad just blew me up from the other end of the map in 1 salvo. I have remembered to keep a wary eye out for any lurking far-off Montys (or any T10 BB's, in fact) ever since. Well, OK granted that Mogami has no armor to speak of so you don't even have to be broadside on to anyone to get citadelled either. One of its most annoying features to be sure You know how it is - Die horribly and learn... Or some such thingy anyways.

YOU NOTTY BOY!?
-
Yeah -10km distance from a Schanhorst is deadly for any Cruiser to be in fact. Have tried it often enough to believe that. Try to stay further away and full speed to dodge. With the high firing angles of US Cruisers, you can easily just hug the island so close it will be difficult to hit you there. Except with another US Cruiser, of course. CL's also have no armor to speak of so any hit, angled or not will not be very likely to bounce and therefore will do some damage.

Had an innderesding and surreal game on the Neighbors Map - Domination mode on Sunday. We had 3 DD's (and NOT in division either), they all decided to go B cap, despite of the fact that we requested 1 DD to C, oh well, maybe it'll work right? At the first sign of an enemy contesting the cap, 1 instantly dies to an enemy torpedo while sitting in his smoke broadside towards an enemy Akatsuki and the remaining 2 others, instead of either trying to contest the cap further or keeping the Aka spotted so we could kill it OR even moving on to the other 2 caps, just ran away and thereafter contented themselves with desultory maximum-range gunfire from BEHIND our front-line Cruisers and Battleships (both were gunboat DD's) and firing only at enemy Battleships (yup, you guessed it, also firing AP) near B cap. Oh well, our Cruisers then had to take on the DD role and by some miracle finally managed to cap. A first (no enemy was present there, they all went B+C) and C after a prolonged and tight fight and 3 tries with myself in a Mogami playing the unfortunate proto-DD and very nearly dying in the attempt(s). With C finally capped I disengaged and moved on towards B, where our brave DD's had found their balls again, but sadly still no common sense and passed right through the B cap zone (yes, without actually capping it) and yolo'd to behind the C cap, where enemy team was in force and by now pushing / capping C for themselves - Our DD's had apparently not heard of witchcraft called "concealment" and so kept firing their guns all the way = They were in full view of the enemy all the while (whose DD's so far had been annoyingly effective at keeping me perma-spotted and under fire the entire bloody game) and died pretty much immediately after crossing the B cap circle. Well, in the end I, together with a Colorado pushed to B and managed to cap it as planned, though I admit to cowardly skulking and hiding behind the island there while firing from stealth over it at the enemy in C cap - Where a fierce battle was still raging - We finally got the upper hand, when their BB's lost their cohesion and began Yolo-charging our defenders behind the C cap while being flanked by us at B and some of our Cruisers who were circling right behind them - Then we finally mounted a counter-attack and our Bismarck and a King George re-took the C cap. Only 1 enemy (the same enemy Akatsuki, who had capped B at the beginning of the game) survived the battle and 6 of us, though it has to be admitted that all of us were in rather poor health by now. I myself had only 1700HP left by the end of it and many of the others were not much better off either. However, this is the only match I remember ever, where ALL the spotting and capping on our side was done purely by Cruiser and Battleship effort instead of DD's - Despite of the fact that 2/3 of our DD's were actually alive for most of the game, only getting themselves killed at the very end of it, when we were closing our encirclement of C. And what did our heroes have to say for themselves, when we tried to advise them (and surprisingly the said "advising" was actually done rather civilly as well - Not me BTW, some of the others felt compelled to do it tho)?: "Shut up. I know what I am doing!" And so we did... All 3 DD's - Minsk, Benson and a Shiratsuyu w smoke, ended up last in the team list with less than 300 XP each... Some justice at least.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

Really? Awww crap Shin... And I was already considering gettin' me some of those things... Oh well then. Mayhap the Italian Cruiser line some time then. -
Yes. Ignore and report him for misbehavior in chat. Getting into a swearing contest with total idiots is a total waste of time and will get you nowhere anyways. So why even bother?
-
This is true Comrade. Battleship Marat did most of her war damage to invading huns AFTER being sunk by imperialist Stukas in Kronshtadt harbor. This is the traditional Russian way of fighting a naval battle, catches the schweine completely off-guard every time.
-
Hmmm, that bad eh? Perhaps the Bavarian Navy out on exercises then? I will try my luck tomorrow, as I have the Friday off, lessee how that goes then. Plenty of beer and snacks in reserve.

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

Hhehehe! Welcome to the wonderful world of Cruisers. This happens much more often than I care to mention (just because I am a kind and noble humanitarian soul and do not wish to depress you overly much right away). But yeah, I have ended up in the same situation in tier 9&10 games with my Mogami more times than is strictly speaking healthy. Sometimes it goes surprisingly well tho, you just have to try and make sure that none of the enemy DD's is actually directly facing (and out-spotting) you and kill them off ASAP, if that works out, then there is an opportunity for a good game playing the odd-proto-torpedo-boat-thingy. Otherwise there's gonna be a fair chance of being screwed. On the positive side tho, with a Mogami - Unlike with an actual DD, you don't really have to be overly worried about radars anymore. -

Hhehehe! Ahh the good old days of the "Battleship Atago-land" and the "Tirpitz Torpedo-boat flotilla"(totally no need to use main guns, just get close enough)... Sometimes I miss the absurdity of it all (granted, it is not often, but when I get drunk enough). -

RAHJAILARI replied to VC381's topic in General Discussion
Dammits, I was gonna say that... But yeah, the exact same sentiments here. personally I only started with this because I am interested in historical ships and IJN ships is particular. So consequently I have acquired them all - Well except for Kawachi, which I sold off as a horrible mistake, just because it was (so I have König Albert for a tier 3 BB instead) and of course I do not have the paper ships either. Besides of those I do have a few others - Russian, USN, French, German and so forth. You know the premiums I somehow got from somewhere and others which I ground up to just because I was interested in the ship itself (Richelieu, Hipper, Algerie and so on). I am quite content with that. -
True dat. personally I am against a hybrid CV idea in case of Tone. The Scout Cruiser-thingy on the other hand would be quite doable without too much trouble. But as for Ise/Hyuga the CV-hybrid would be a must tho.
-
Yeah. A while back someone suggested an additional IJN Scout Cruiser line with buffed AA, catapult fighter / fighter and Spotting plane capabilities which sounded quite OK to me and would not be impossible or even hard to complete even with the current game setup. Could have been @T0byJug
-
Ooooh, do I sense optimism!? Hhehehe! But admittedly I am also looking forward to them myself with some enthusiasm.
