Main Gun Reload Booster - does everyone need a gimmick?
RAHJAILARI replied to piritskenyer's topic in General Discussion
While I have nothing against the reload booster as such. This just came to me now... Ya'll do realize where this is leading to right? Next there will be an "Aiming Systems Booster" too... Which will reduce your overall dispersion by 7& or some such.... Just to aid those 20km camping BB's deliver even more accurate punch. -
Ahh true, yes there is that indeed. Luckily it'll only get you barely up to 40%+ no matter what (and I say this because my own starting stats were quite solidly between 31-36% until I began to wise up a bit). Anything after that you just have to work hard for all by yourself - Or actually working WITH the team would probably be even better. Anyways, once you have already managed to completely potato the first few of thousand games it will really take some serious effort to get you stats to rise up from the dregs. Hehehe!

Though I agree with all this in principle. I am not so surer about rewarding *edit. As per my experience, every time I end up in a team full of *edit - And by this I am principally referring to the other 11 *edit. in the team besides myself - we inevitably tend to lose the da*rn game every time. While those losses are undoubtedly fully deserved, I just cannot see how they could be considered particularly rewarding... Well unless, of course, the ultimate goal is to increase the number of silly whining threads in the forum. If that is so, then it has been a total success.

True, it is nearly every other game. When I experience the depressing realization after beginning to move to between B and C on this map (I usually play Mogami, so I try to back up our DD at B first, then move on to C) that any minute now I will have to make a complete U-turn to return to A because nearly the entire bloody team Lemminged and got stuck there yet again. The ultimate frustration...

Indefinite queue times for CVs in the night, please
RAHJAILARI replied to tenacious_torps's topic in General Discussion
Woot? You are a weird guy Otto... -
Hhhhey!! No discriminatin' lad! Us hexagenarians are people too and we can suck just as badly as anybody AND have a better excuse for it too.

Heretic!!

Naah! Staying back will not work either. You'd still be alone there, separated from your buddies and their AA support and therefore vulnerable. You see, the main problem is that these CV players know exactly which ships are vulnerable to AP bombs and will come to specifically seek you out never-the-less. Your best bet is to keep moving and stay close to a Cruiser(s) with good AA, while keeping in mind that you should normally be within 3-4km AA range in order for their AA to be able to help you out. Some have a slightly longer range of up to 7+km too, but in any case. When you spot enemy planes coming anywhere near your direction, it is always a good idea to make a quick turn and head for the closest available AA umbrella ASAP.

Woot? @Alex_Connor Surely you are jesting Comrade? Clearly the scurrilous capitalist scalawags only stole the Glorious Soviet designs but in their deplorable greed and despicable incompetence just made bad copies of the proletariat's supreme designs. That would sooo explain the Soviet Radar ranges in this game anyways...
-
Well IJN radars were not well known for their effectiveness to be sure, but they did exist - Especially late war after Americans had amply demonstrated their usefulness. And to be fair, none of the ship-based WW2 radars were particularly effective anyways by today's standards, since the technology was still in its infancy. I mean even USN radars could occasionally be outspotted by plain good ole' good eyeballing. This actually happened on few occasions early war particularly during Guadalcanal battles - And most of those engagements were fought at night! Hehehe!
-
Ahh, now I get it. So basically the theme is. "All my ships must have radar"? Got it.

Observe: " Description The Shimakaze destroyer had typical architecture for Japanese destroyers: her profile was similar to the Kagerō and Yūgumo types, but she was longer and on board, in the plane of symmetry there was a small superstructure and a third torpedo device. The second distinguishing feature was that instead of a stretched S-shaped stem that was characteristic of Japanese ships, she had an arched bow, inclined strongly forward, giving the silhouette a dynamic appearance, and better for developing high speeds (similar to “the Atlantic” shape of the bows of the great destroyers - German and French). The hull had an elevated bow deck at less than 1/3 of its length. On the foredeck there was one, two-barrel gun turret, followed by a short, tower-type superstructure. The superstructure was a three-floor construction with an enclosed glass-covered wheelhouse on its upper level and a fire-control post behind it. The front wall of the superstructure was slightly bent, as in the Yūgumo type. A characteristic element for the Japanese destroyers were life boats on the sides of the fore superstructure, so was also on “Shimakaze”. The drive consisted of boilers, which were located in two boiler rooms, and further steam turbines (linear arrangement of the power unit). The flue gas from the boilers was discharged through two funnels, the first of which was wider. The radar equipment was located on a three-legged fore mast and consisted of Type-22 radar. After modernization in 1944, it was supplemented with Type-13 radar located on the rear mast placed on the aft superstructure. The aft deckhouse was relatively short due to the space occupied by the third torpedo device. " Yes, it did..

Oh bloody he*ll... I'm glad I missed those then. Way too many...

You just reminded me of a game last Sunday, when our team's lemming train with 9 ships got held up at D cap on 2 Brothers map by just 4 enemies, some even retreating behind it and the rest just milling about in there quite aimlessly for the entire game while myself (in a Mogami), a Bayern and an Ognevoi desperately tried to delay the enemy at A. Needless to say, our delaying action, while unmistakably heroic, turned out to be quite futile in the end since the rest of the team simply refused to either budge from D or to assist us at A and so after the enemy capped our B got surrounded there. Unbelievable, but we did not win either...
-
There was a Bismark radar post? How did I miss that one? Oh well, never mind, on second thought don't tell me. I can't be bothered. Let's come up with a new interesting topic instead, shall we? How abouttit guys?
-
Not really, that is how it was designed on purpose right from the beginning. 1 Cleve nearby is just enough to avoid tragedy. After all, that is precicely why we actually have Cruisers equipped with a DefAA in the first place (otherwise it would be quite pointless, to have it at all wouldn't it?). To provide the plucky BB or DD with a small safe-zone to go to, when threatened. You just have to make sure you take advantage of that cover.
-
Oh well, on the other hand you could have just stayed a bit closer to the rest of the team - Especially near strong AA Cruisers so that their Def AA could have helped you out there and the CV would not have been able top single you out, as a target. Or even close to other BB's for that matter. CV's have (or should have) the ability to delete even the strongest AA ship, if they are alone and un-escorted, so that just means you have to play smart yourself. No base-AA without the DefAA boost can destroy every single plane on time, so overconfidence is going to cost you dearly every time.
-
And so did every other ship of the time (late WW2) including DD's so unless Shimakaze also gets one then NOPES. Besides, we have quite enough radars in game already, I'd rather prefer that they limit or remove some.
-
Indeed. Of course. Unless someone else also had the same brilliant idea. Hehehe!
-
Hhehehe! Stop living in the past Old Timer. This is the 21st century now. Interacting with people is sooo old. It's all computer and videogames, reality TV and Fake news now. We should be extinct, as a species by 2100, no worries

WG has no influence over player skill, age, race or sex dude @HMS_BlackPud. It cannot just be programmed away, so if you play any MMO, that's the risk you just have to take. That said, I've had a really bad week already myself, whereby it is possible to tell within the first 1 minute by observing the team's movements, that sure enough we are gonna git our asses handed over to us good again... Really depressing so I can fully relate to the mood. Oh well, maybe the coming weekend I'll be on the other (winning) side for a change eh? I mean, if one side gets blapped in 5 minutes, then it stands to reason to assume that SOMEONE's gotta be winning too. I sure hope so anyways. And besides, it could always be worse. It could be kindergartners.

Naah! @T0byJug Sadly I am married so I'm not allowed to look at any extramarital T-shirts annyhoot under pain of the most cruel "Fate worse than the fate worse than death". AND besides - I gots me the Eagles Flag already, so I honorably double-crossed the them and defected back to Sharks.

PR 0 ? Really? I did not think that even possible over several matches or hundreds... OMG.

BB Dammed if you do Dammed if you don't
RAHJAILARI replied to Turtlesandwich's topic in General Discussion
Simples @Laurance_of_Arabia my friend. Just leave damming to the beavers and do what you think is best. There will always be some wiseguy thinking he knows it better, but then again he's not captaining your ship is he? So while taking some well-founded advice on occasion is advisable, criticism without such merits has no value, so just ignore it and do as you see fit. Works every time!
