What is the stupidest thing you did today?
RAHJAILARI replied to piritskenyer's topic in General Discussion
Decided to practice Gaede again during early morning (yupp not a good idea, guaranteed CV's in the game)... Ended up in a game with 4 CV's and facing a Mutsuki and Farragut by myself (only DD for our team) in a domination mode... Going A cap... Yeah, playing defensively as advised but spotted and focused on by planes and enemy Cruisers while I was still nowhere near any caps. Survived that though just barely and wisely headed for B cap instead. Same bloody thing happened... Merrily limped on to C cap.... Oh yes, the same old same old again, but this time team could not back me up (they were there but by now we had already lost 7 ships including both CV's and the enemy only 2 and we were surrounded) while I had completely forgotten that I had Hydro and so bumped unawares into a nearly full HP Leander coming from behind an island some 3,2 km away. Didn't even have time to say "Cheese" before I was toasted - Well had only 1840Hp left by this point anyway, but still... Oh Sigh! Next ship... Atlanta! - No more CV's in game... -
Hey WG, here's a list of premiums we need but don't have (hint money for you)!

Yupyupyupp! But we could still add Ise to the IJN list, though it is one of the more unlikely suspects so I won't be terribly disappointed, if not. Perhaps HMS Agincourt, Renown and even Exeter, Dorsetshire too? -
Hhehhehe! That's nothing lad... Once had a full 4 weeks losing streak like that when everything possible went wrong (multiple detonations, potatoes everywhere and I lost my nerves too and so became one myself). But it all finally passed and I had an unusually good couple of weeks afterwards so I guess it all panned out OK in the end. Just need patience.

Weelll... I do know someone (not me God forbid) who seriously contemplated taking the "Expert Rear Gunner" skill for his Myoko - Luckily he talked to me first, listened and changed his mind... And he isn't normally even retarded. People get some funny ideas... -

I actually had a fellow in the same team a couple of weeks ago (in a Neptune tho), who boasted about how he'd gotten BOTH of them (IFHE & DE) and how they had improved his results (somebody had asked for tips on what skill to take for his RN CL next)... There was nothing I could say to that, so I stayed silent. But some others did not and so a huge chat debate/fight/name-calling event ensued and pretty much ruined our team's game, we lost quite miserably. It is a miracle no-one got TK'd... -
HEPL!!! Ernst Gaede, playing tips anyone?
RAHJAILARI replied to RAHJAILARI's topic in General Discussion
A good observation, yes I did that. I only wanted the most unique ships for myself, not the entire line and it seemed to me that Gaede and the Z-23 are the 2 to fit that bill the best. So yeah, I will have to learn a whole new playstyle now so some hiccups were to be expected. Gaede is my practice ship, once I've cracked it sufficiently (some 500-750 games should do it) I will move on to Z-23 and stop there (I do not intend to get all of them, just these 2). My original intention in WoWs was just to get the Japanese ships and nothing else (always been an IJN fan) but since then I kinda got got infected by a "Mission Creep" and add a few premiums received from somewhere and also discovered some other interesting historical ships and so now I find myself having a few German, French, USN and even Russian ships on the side (no British, as I was put off by the gimmickry, but I might try 1 or 2 later on). I only keep the historical ones tho, a silly little rule I made for myself just to keep things in perspective. Hehehe! Although that rule has inexplicably led to an overabundance of Tier 6 and 8 ships, when compared to others. -

Whaddaya sayin'? @nambr9 So this would mean Iäll get a funny mark on my compulsory "Smokescreen Expert" skill in my TRB Yugumo from now on? -
I see that you mostly have experience playing mush stealthier IJN, Pan-Asian and USN DD's. German DD's from tier 6 upwards play very differently from those and have rather poor stealth (as you already know) in comparison so you will have to adjust and employ a completely different playstyle (the same applies to Russian DD's). It is tough to get used to it, I started trying to play Gaede myself just a while ago and it takes some time and adjustment before it starts to go well so keep at it. I have a Gaede thread open here somewhere with playing tips from the others for German DD line, perhaps they will be helpful in this case too? Check it out. That said, your results are not bad so probably it's just some losing streak or another. It will pass.

Yupp, kinda my thoughts on the matter so far. I have researched her already just not bought yet, as I figgered it might be better to learn to Gaede first. -

Hheheheh! For that to happen, I'd have to make 6 clones of myself first (not that I'm necessarily opposed to cloning such obvious masculine perfection, of course). Our clan is called ONE2 for a good reason, you see... Simply because we only have 1 or 2 guys who actually bother to play this game on regular basis. -

Yeah, I'm still rather undecided on the gun caliber actually. I have taken the 150mm purely because it seemed like it is the main "thing" that would make this ship special (well there is the hydro too tho). So basically, I have no good rational gameplay reason for my gun choice at all. But to think of it now - If I really want to be effective, as cap contester / close support, the DPM of 128mm might work better in combination with hydro for that purpose, while on the other hand the 150mm might be better in late game against other targets... Ohh, the agony of choice... -

Yupp, have found out all these playing points quite to my expense already. Hehehe! Well, as for the captain build. Those skills are the ones I skilled originally some 2 years ago and have no clue for which ship or why. Just checking here first for suggestions before I re-skill him, in order to avoid too many repeated re-skills. As for the smoke-thingy I had one and decided to test it in Gaede, since the smoke last very short time and I wanted to see if it would be useful here (nope, does not look like that much tho - Mebbe put it somewhere else). -

RAHJAILARI replied to RAHJAILARI's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, these 3 specifically I have been reconsidering actually... I do not remember how of for what ship (if any, he could have just been in reserve. Had Gaede for a long time, but did not play much until now) I originally skilled this fellow and decided not to change them before some further consultations. But yeah, Last Stand seems quite obvious pick tho (totally forgot about that actually, old age an dementia you know). Could of course, just take Adrenaline Rush instead of Expert Marksman, since the guns kinda fire slowly anyway so I guess very fast turret traverse might be superfluous. I have thought of Superintendent actually. That 1 extra smoke to shoot from does sound awfully tempting.... -

RAHJAILARI replied to RAHJAILARI's topic in General Discussion
Aaaa! Have never thought of that in this case TBH, which is rather strange, since I have not taken the AFT for most of my DD's for exactly this reason. A good point, I might actually consider doing the same for some of my IJN DD's too... -
Weekends are getting too painful these days...
RAHJAILARI replied to Sark74's topic in General Discussion
Well, depends of course a lot who you play with and what ships you have in division. Balanced divisions (1DD+1CL/CA+1BB, for example) tend to get better MM and also improved result when compared to 3DD, 3 Cruiser or 3 BB divisions. But all that is still quite situational and depends on yourselves too. I had the same thoughts too before, but then I checked my stats (Solo vs Div) and found out that in the long term my Div stats were significantly better than solo ones, so yeah there will be bad days and good ones too but overall Divs apparently DO produce better results in the long term. Well, as long as you play them smart (meaning you actually play together as team and NOT as just 3 random guys being in a Div, but still playing their separate solo games - This requires practice tho). -

Weel, in principle I do much the same (or just change to another game). Though I I'm not so sure WG actually can do anything about it as such even if they wanted to. You see, if the MM is indeed completely random and unbiased, as it is supposed to be. Those things should indeed be expected to happen occasionally, as in the context of 20-20k of total players a couple or a few hundreds of games will be statistically insignificant (though admittedly still annoying). In fact, I would find it highly suspicious if I always ended up in even matches, because it should be statistically impossible. There's just no way to simply program away human stupidity or to predict where it will be distributed, since there is an inexhaustible supply of it and it also has an infinite number of variations to boot. That would be nigh-impossible programming, so therefore it is easier and simpler to just go with clean randoms rather than try to tweak them in any way (because any such attempts would inevitably go wrong in some unforeseen ways). -
Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.
RAHJAILARI replied to albinbino's topic in General Discussion
Weel, can't expect them to "get" EVERYTHING everything really - I guess, but personally I'd be much happier if someone would even occasionally understand the purpose of cap zones on the map. I am really tired of having to try capping with my Mogami all the time. Just because after DD's it's the next stealthiest ship, which is not saying much either AND not to mention that it's dam*ned daft and dangerous to attempt doing so with enemy DD's un-spotted and on the loose, while our own DD's go off not spotting anything and yolo-ing around the map edges just to get themselves spotted in turn and dying ignominiously without accomplishing anything (yeah, there was a LOT of that going on this weekend again, sigh!). -

RAHJAILARI replied to Sark74's topic in General Discussion
My theory is that it's not so much the weekend BUT certain times of the day which are to blame, when the "Potato Parade" takes place. Usually I seem to get rather balanced games, with evenly skilled teams in the mornings from 08am up to 12noon (Irish time) and again at from about 8pm up to 12pm in the evenings. Afternoons somehow often turn out abysmal, with completely one-sided rolf-stomp games more often than not (sometimes I get to be on the winning side but it ain't much fun either way tho). Late evenings can be problematic too, but I take it that's only because folks tend to be more sauced-up by that time. I try to avoid playing veryu early in the morning, but that is mainly just because of the increased chance of getting "stump" games with ridiculously small teams (I like my battles with as many sheeps as possible). But then again, this is just my own theory, could be wrong too. In any case, if ever things start to go horribly wrong like that, I'll just take a break for a while and try again later. Some times it works too but I guess the key thing is to recognize when you yourself start to lose your nerve and begin to make more gross mistakes, therefore only making the situation even worse for yourself. So best to quit, while still ahead is a good motto and sometimes even I remember to live by it. Hehehe!. -
I admit it, I have never fully supported them. Though to my defense, this is the first time I've heard about them also. But I guess that's no defense.

Yupp... Ammo storage capacity never was an issue in naval battles anyways, so to introduce it would have to be a total fabrication to begin with (well, except for torps). Not saying that WG is above that, of course.
-
Naah! 1&4, mebbe but not really something that makes a difference. 2&3 make no sense whatsoever and would not improve the game in any way. I'd rather just add the ability to make our own Clan Tags and Flags and have them displayed on ships and the base.

Hehehe, the Saudis have nothing on me Lads... Death penalty could be considered rather merciful compared what will happen if my missus ever catches me with any extra-marital pin-ups of anything else than possibly a leaf of spinach and even that might be a tad hard to justify...

Just wait until you get up to Tier 10, when you'll be having 5-6 DD's per team at times, some with 15*12 or 20km torps... Just saying. You'll either have to learn to deal with them or start playing one that's all BTW, the 2 are not necessarily mutually exclusive. It is amazing how much one could learn about defending against DD's while playing one. You should prolly give it a try.

OR even better... Just increase the tier count to 15 and start from pre-dreadnought era already. Would get an ample and awesome supply of real ships and tech trees (partial perhaps, but who really cares right?) from all over. .- 67 replies
