  1. I have always thought Subs would be a perfect counter against BB campers and those CV's which have not yet discovered that they actually DO have an engine. Might be a nice way to inst-punish those pesky AFK players too... Also, it would be possible to spawn Subs into or close to the enemy spawn area right from the beginning, just to make sure that they do have the chance to catch up. They do travel faster on the surface as well. There are many possibilities here...

    Yeah, guaranteed all radar ships on one side, none on the other for example.... Not necessarily against it but not convinced either.

    Then do not fire them. Not everyone reads the chat anyways. One has to weigh the chances every time before firing torps and if it fails, you get pink'd. That is fair enough as far as I can tell and a penalty is well deserved. AND I say this, as an unfortunately way too frequent offender myself (in a Mogami,, 10km torps, 9,3km concealment, fired from max range = Yupp, ship happens).
  5. Well yeah, but there is a quite valid reason for that too. You see Yamato (the WG version, not the real thing, mind you) has been purposely designed, as a sniper BB and in such a way that it actually cannot approach the enemy to anything closer than 20km with any hope of reasonable success (I'm not saying it cannot be done, but it IS for the most part just asking for a bloody nose). You see: 1) Yammy (oh and Musashi too, which is why the secondary build for is is completely MEH and pointless) still has the only over-the-waterline BB citadel in the game, which is also inconveniently located in front, under the fore turrets and easy to hit even when angled. An Iowa will easily citadel it from 15+km, even if not broadside-on. This makes any close approach a very risky and possibly a suicidal prospect. 2) Yammy's guns have good accuracy, but its turrets are basically welded on to the deck (saying that turret rotation is "glacial" is giving it WAY too much credit) and for all practical intents and purposes quite immobile (especially with the recommended modules mounted, which all reduce turret rotation even further), so it cannot actually aim and shoot at anything close to it because the guns simply cannot track a moving target nearby. It will become a veritable sitting duck. AND finally, nope I am not a BB player, I play mostly Cruisers and DD and camping BB's do annoy me too, but some of them actually do have a good reason to do so (well, at the least Yamato does) - I do have Yamato myself though and that's why I am familiar with these serious performance issues it has.

    What's with the DD meta these days?

    Yeeah, I can confirm that from recent bitter personal experience too. Had a game on Sunday, where the opposing team had a cancer division of a Worchester, Harugumo and a Gearing with RPF. We had no radars. AND as fate would have it they were right at the B cap on "Mountain Range" map where I was heading to with my trusty Shima (thank God Shima is actually slightly faster than any of these or I'd been toasted several times over)... Survived the encounter (just barely) and went on to have a decent game (5.556 XP earned - Yeah, I had signals on) by bravely running away, but oh yes, we lost the game hands down with most of our DD's getting murdered by the terrible 3. I was the only survivor of our team in the end. All of the 3 in that enemy division survived. Though I very nearly got the Gearing in a furious gunfight, he only had 10 HP left when they got their 1000 points rather prematurely full and the game ended, da*mmits... I tell you it is quite amazing / horrifying the amount of fire those 3 can spew out, when they focus-fire on just 1 target (in this case, poor ole' me), found myself frequently rather lacking in both hiding places and dodging options to be sure. Otherwise I'm happy with that battle tho...

    Totally agree... Funnily enough this has led to a rather comical situation where Mogami is now by far my leading "Capper" ship in the fleet (1or 2 caps in nearly every game last weekend, for example). Oh well, whatever works I guess.

    Weel, I have dedicated Captains in all my ships - PROBLEM SOLVED! Also customized all Captain skills accordingly, which really does help improve individual ship performance. Well OK, admitted a 19 point Captain on Hashidate might possibly be considered shamefully excessive... I regret deeply. But then again, I had no choice. ALL my German &IJN DD and Cruiser Caps are at 19 points these days. Next project, the Russians & Murica !
  9. Weel, I bumped into @Zen71_sniper and his Division of Doom (also better known, as the DoDo's down under) in the opposing team on "Sleeping Giant" map today. Dunnoh, why lads had decided to join the Rebs today but oh well. I suspect they might have been under cover for the Fenian Society or Sons of McDougal or something... In any case the boys had planned it well, as they had a good layout of 1BB, 1 CL and a DD in their division and so game started nicely for their team - Their other flan k capped A pretty quickly, while these guys held off our attempts at D cap, where their Crack Division had advanced in good order - But then suddenly a disaster struck! Zen got unexpectedly nuked by a combination of Radar and overwhelming firepower right at the beginning. Really, I have no idea what happened there due to being distracted by an unreasonably hostile Cleveland attempting to hide behind an island after I had tried some desultory pot-shots at him (I mean seriously, what's wrong with people these days? I was just trying to be friendly). Due to these complications I only managed 1 hit on the Zen (and I can come up with other excuses, if need be) while his divisionmates in Chapa and Richelieu escaped relatively unharmed (though I did try to burn the Richelieu a bit, sorry about that - Totally my bad). Managed a few more hits on the Cleve and sadly she sank before my Medal of Honor was awarded so I had to proceed towards A. While half way there I spotted their Lexington inexplicably immobile and parked behind an island at B, but unfortunately on the only spot (not behind the 2 mountains in both ends of the island, but behind the low spot in-between them? WTF?), where one could actually shoot at from the our side of the map, so I lit him a few welcoming fires to commemorate the occasion (because I'm totally such a nice guy). After this bit of sniping we shot down a few planes (I had an AA specced Hipper) I tried shooting at a suspicious looking Chapa (Zen's div mate), but failed miserably to cause any damage, got a salvo from their Richelieu (unfortunately he did not miss), but was saved from further attentions by the same island the CV (by now extinct) had been hiding behind. Unfortunately there was also a strangely aggressive Donskoi in their team, who apparently peeved that I had tried to BBQ him earlier on had deliberated that he would try to torp me and headed full speed to the end of the island towards A. Lucky for him, I had also warmed up to the idea of a close encounter and headed there likewise determined to torp him in an epic "Mexican standoff-ish-kinda-thingy". Oh well, of course we both missed miserably. BUT while I was able to turn so that my aft was pointed at him in an angle, he had dodged my torps by stopping and trying to reverse and so was now dead in the water at 5 km away showing full broadside, shooting HE at my hindquarters. UH OH - He scored a fire - I however wisely had AP loaded and scored a few citadels. Happy Ending! Someone had by now rather cruelly disposed of Zen's mate in Chapa and Richelieu was also under heavy fire. The game ended, when he got blasted by some unsavory heather before I had the chance. Well, the boys didn't do too badly for themselves in fact, but it must be said they had some bad luck with the team tho. I hope it got better after that. However, just to be on the safe side I myself stopped playing and decided to dedicate the rest of the day for some more peaceful pursuits, such as playing "Total War". You know, just to make sure the same won't happen to me today. However tomorrow is another day... Well done lads, hope to see you again but in the same team this time. Hehe!

    True all dat @Xevious_Red. Though detection ranges can be adjusted to provide increased utility too (oh wait, tier 8 gets the Concealment module doesn't it? Problem solved.). I would like to see it in game, but perhaps limited edition only (to avoid potato plague) and definitely with a capped MM to max 0-1 per team.

    Yeah well, nothing that a little buff to the gun reload, 12 km torpedo range and perhaps DW torps / puff of smoke can't solve methinks. Just lack of imagination on WG's part. After all, we already got the RN Cruisers and Asashio so why the heck not? Of course, the TK problem is whole another thing (because I can totally see, how this would become a potato-magnet), but perhaps the new pinky rules working now so the temptation would be less. Or else make it limited edition award ship, just for the pros or something. And yeah, it is unbalanced, but then again just limit it to a maximum of 1 per team and be done with it.

    Well, they could just limit it to a maximum of 1 per team just like the CV's, but without mirrored MM (so you could have one in either team or 1 in both teams) and I think it might be OK for randoms too.
  16. Hehe, yeah... Had a game this Wednesday, where both our team and the enemy team skillfully avoided capping anything at all for the first 10 minutes (Domination mode) until we finally managed to clear enemy from near the A cap and I capped it, then proceeded to cap B, continuing to C after that. At 15 minutes the enemy overran C cap though. In the end we won by 200 points, with myself getting a Solo Warrior for it AND ALSO got reported 3 times for doing so. Still have not figured out what I did so horribly wrong to deserve it... Oh well, repeat again tonight perhaps...
  17. Yes indeed, I can spot a slight flaw in this plan. Had a few such games in this map and some others too, just never figured out why there are teams/ players, who seem to be absolutely allergic to the magic circle in the middle, taking every precaution to avoid accidentally touching it... Specifically in the one game mode where entering the center and capping it IS precisely the whole frigging idea! Oh well, it's Friday again so no doubt I will see that happening soon enough... Now, where did I put those sedatives & blood pressure medication again?

    Anyone else get burnt out on this game?

    Oh well, clearly time to take a break then. Myself, I play only on weekends and care little for any missions, challenges or marathons, so it does not happen to me much - Well, except during holidays when I am able to play pretty much every day. One eventually gets fed up. And in any case, as they say: "I hear good things about EVE online". Try something new and enjoy.

    Großer Kurfürst - Legendary Upgrade, Keep or Sell?

    Yeah, I have quite a few newly somber, regretful friends with the same problem. But you can always get more credits by simply playing more, so you will not miss out on anything. BUT what happens when they finally fix those upgrades a few patches from now and it turns out to be quite useful? You see, it is OK to sell stuff at a slight loss for some petty cash, if you can easily re-purchase them back again any time you wish later on (and even then you'll be losing money because you will buy them back at a higher price you got when selling). This is not the case with these upgrades however, so some prudence is advisable.

    Well, considering that vast majority of the sk. "Legendary Upgrades" seem to be pretty worthless. WG will have to improve them one way or another sometime in the future to make them worth it. So I'd say just keep it for the time being and see what happens, you lose nothing by keeping it in reserve.

    Maybe not really a chat, as such. BUT what I would really like is a snapshot added to the final scoreboard where the end situation is visible on minimap, which would then show the end positions of all surviving ships for both teams. So I could finally see where that last effin' DD was hiding that we were never able to spot and so on.
  25. Well, one has to prioritize the really important stuff you know. People nowadays just don't insult themselves like they used to. Ze work for de rightzeous iz neevah done... Sigh!
