  1. I have said this before and will say it again. These are no Bots, truly epic levels of ineptitude can only be reached by a human. TAKE THAT SKYNET!!

Which is your most hated camo by looks?

Oh yeah, totally forgot the "Urinary"...

Which is your most hated camo by looks?

I voted for the US / British here, but frankly the French "Revolutionary" should be added-in with them. Just as cheesy, sold them all off, as I didn't want to use them.

    Some Schnellboot history

nice one @aboominationAlways been a Schnellboot fan myself. Some of the best Torpedo boats around and could also operate in relatively heavy weather. Though Finnish Navy in the end opted to get the Italian MAS torpedo boats instead. We did however acquire some German naval assets as well... LO and BEHOLD!: -> It is something called a "Heavy Gun Raft", which basically was made up of 2 connected pontoon rafts with outboard motors at the back, heavily armed with 2*88mm, 1*37mm and 2*20mm Flak Vierlings. Top speed was something like 6-8 knots. Hehehe! Magnificent! Especially when you consider that most of the remaining Finnish Fleet consisted of some things like this: But hey, whatever works. We did manage to keep the Russian navy bottled up in Kronshtadt harbour for nearly the entire ww2 with them things so they must have been totally awesome too right? Well, I admit there may have been a couple of these Schnellboote stationed nearby in Estonia at the time which may have helped a bit too...
  5. Can totally relate to this... My first game Saturday on this map was also a total loss for similar reasons (BUT domination mode) after 15 seconds played, when some Genius uttered the fatal words: "Everyone go to A cap." Weel, I tried to aid capping B despite of this with an Akatsuki, who was similarly unable to understand clear orders, as myself (I was in Mogami). Then, when he got killed for lack of support against the entire enemy team firing at him (because most our guys were by then behind the large islands at A and unable to fire at the B cap), I was forced to retreat and start kiting off to follow the rest of the Lemmings. Delayed the pursuing enemy by myself all the way to A cap, got 3 kills too, but all to no avail because the rest of the team just could not get their fat as*ses out of that Goddamn*d cap zone... By some miracle I survived, but only just. Luckily the next game went slightly better tho. Looking for Easter Eggs?

    Domintaion and Destroyers

Incidentally, i have all IJN DD's but only a few others. Not to worry, I am just an IJN fan in general, but made the effort to learn how to use Gunboats as well just so I would have an idea of how to counter them. The problem in my opinion is that IJN DD's generally just do not fare too well in a gunfight, even the earlier sk.- "Gunboats" like Minekaze, Hatsu and Shira. They only become competitive from Akitsuki onward in the gun department. So one could argue that just like Yamato, they have been custom-made for sniping and are not of much use for anything else (very sad tho, I'd like for them to be more versatile). They also tend to be slower that other DD's so, once spotted disengaging from a superior enemy is a major problem. I mean I have TRIED to run away from Minsk in a Fubuki after getting inconveniently spotted, guess how well that went? Last time I tried flank Yolo-ing anywhere with my DD's, I tell you... BUT all that said, there is really nothing to actually prevent you from capping with them or from engaging the enemy DD's from time to time. Guns are somewhat MEH (slow firing) but they do have OK alpha damage when you get down to it. I prefer to use them, as scouts and for capping, as I have also handily discovered that one tends to make more of a contribution that way and improve the chances of actually winning the game. AND importantly besides, if you scout in front of a friendly Cruiser or 2 the chances of getting some fire support in the event of spotting an enemy DD's tend to be much better than when Yolo-ing around the map edges (keeping in mind that in 1-on-1 fight without support you will lose), which unfortunately many still tend to practice. But I guess that's just the heretic me grossly misusing the dainty vehicle then.

    Kronshtadt vs Alaska, your choice

Weel, due to alleged "Russian bias" I suspect Kronshtadt might actually turn out to be the stronger ship in-game. But otherwise , since Alaska is the one that actually existed, I would still pick her for myself, if ever it came down to choices. I'm just funny that way.

    Domintaion and Destroyers

Weel, I was 100 years old already when old Methuselah was still in kindergarten and haven't gotten any younger since then. I used to play DD almost exclusively and still play them a lot, so I highly doubt that's true. Also due to a jealous wife syndrome I am not allowed even a cursory glance at anything resembling Dasha. And anyway, sheer survival instinct strongly precludes me from even considering such a course of action. But DD's are simply MOAR fast and fun to play most times. Hhehhheh! A good comeback there lad. I just hope those fine Gentlemen actually chanced into the Green Team more often.

    Domintaion and Destroyers

Personally, though I play mostly Cruisers at this time (used to play a lot of DD before, still do some tho). I still prefer Domination Battles, as the Standard Battles often tend to descend into huge campfests.

    Extremely broken matchmaking

Yeah, though I usually have no complaints about the MM, this sure happens a lot to me as well. And yupp, when you have a 2-man division with a Mogami and Monarch which ends up being matched against almost any 3 man tier 10 division, the news is generally not going to be good. Not saying it isn't winnable, but your division sure as hell isn't going to be very likely to do it and will basically be struggling just to stay afloat and have SOME impact on the game (hopefully a positive one). Yeah, I have to agree. I would much prefer it, if the division tiers were balanced against each other. Don't really give a diddly about player ranks tho.

Oh yes, you are absolutely right it is definitely a high risk tactic and very situational. Only to be used as a last resort or if an opportunity presents itself, not as a standard practice, of course. However, it is great to have that possibility available, unlike most other IJN Cruisers. My usual vehicle for such kamikaze tactics is Hipper BTW... But executed right and with a bit of luck you may just survive the attempt and go on to greater deeds. Hehehe!

Ahh, but no need to turn broadside at all, that's the whole point my friend. Have done it a few times myself. It is doable, if you are 1-to-1 and preferably (but not necessarily) able to sneak to within 7km of the Giulio (use island cover to get there) and retain at least 50-60% of your original HP. You will take some hits, but no citadels and no need to show broadside at all either, as Furu can launch its torps in a nice forward angle so when you get to within 4km of it, there's no dodging them any more and by wiggling a bit you may even be able to launch both sides, if needed.

Yeah I do, did not like the original config myself either. BUT NAO it is a GOOD ship for her tier, I have bought her back and play her quite often over the weekends too. Well anyways, I do hafta do something to fix those rubbish stats I got when she was still pure trash don't I?

If you do it right, you can actually bow-tank and torp-rush a Giulio with a fairly good chance of success too, as Taco has unusually good torp angles for an IJN Cruiser (of course, need Last Stand & Preventive Maintenance, as she takes module & engine damage easily).

  17. Don't really mind improvements on existing maps. So far they have been good, but "Moar Maps" is always on the top of my wishlist anyways.
  18. Actually, you'll know exactly where the radar ships are going to be in any given battle. They are always positioned behind the exact same islands in any given map. One can very well plan his/her DD play around that assumption that there WILL be a radar Cruiser behind this or that island near a cap zone, if there are any in the game. It would be foolish not to assume that. Once you know this, you can indeed play around them a bit. For example by entering the cap zone in such an angle that the radar ship cannot fire at you without exposing himself OR "baiting" - Just enter the cap zone in order to trigger the radar, be ready to run (so you should already be at the least partially turned around by this stage) and kite away out of radar range, once the radar is on - Of course, do not shoot your guns while doing so. Radars only last some 30secs+-something, except for DM, which is a tad longer. They can damage you yes, but not really sink you by themselves (with some help they can tho, that's why caution is advised) and if you learn to kite you can avoid major damage quite well. So once the radar has been used, their cooldown is 2 mins, so you can quite safely go back and cap the thing right from under his nose. If there are several radars, you have to be more careful but same rules apply. You will only get killed, if you try to charge the cap zone pell-mell right away therefore putting yourself deep inside their radar range, from which you cannot quickly escape. It is also allowed to initially skirt the cap zone (you can always cap it later, when the heat has died down a bit) and try to torp behind it to clear those pesky islands from excess crowds of enemy Cruisers first. Enemy usually only fires up their radars only, when they see the cap zone changing colour, so use that, as your tactic. Go close, but not into it and position yourself so you can shoot a torp salvo right behind a suspect island or two. I bet you can get a hit... Then run out of range quickly, because as soon as they get hit, they will fire up the radar. Sta just out of range and reload torps - Once the 30 sec radar is safely used up, approach again, repeat. This will clear the cap, get you some damage and in the end you can quite safely go in a cap it for the home team. Of course, while doing all this it is well to keep in mind that the nemy DD might be trying to do just the same and you might bump into him too. But that is another story.
  19. Yeah well, suiciders are not only limited to DD's tho. That is a universal plague, seen many games thrown away because of that dam*ned stupidity.
  20. Yeah, the same here. It has seriously affected my gameplay too, since i am in the middle of "learning how to mogami" and curiously wenought, if our own DD's prove uncooperative, it turns out to be me who has the next best stealth. So, although trying to cap in a Cruiser is hazardous as hell and basically daft, I sooner or later end up doing it in most games I play.these days. But then again, just like I stated before, I do get some consolation of the fact that those DD players STILL tend to get spotted and killed nearly instantly. No idea how they actually manage it but oh well. Some justice at least. Of course, I also make it my special mission to hunt them down, whenever the opposing team has one such DD anywhere near my turf on the map. REVENGE!
  21. Clearly the plan was to lure the enemy into a false sense of security and then surround them into B cap? BRILLIANT!
  22. Yupp, but on the positive side, I have also noticed them dying alone a lot and quickly so fair enough I guess.
  23. Oh well, I did suspect as much... He does have 46% WR to prove it too but I thought I'd give it a whack anyways, just in case. Some people do learn - Even I did, after all (admitted, it took a while tho).
  24. Well, firstly. Cyclones do not last 12 minutes. Ever. And your problems are clearly not due to cyclones themselves but self-inflicted due to the fact that you are unable/unwilling to adjust your playstyle and prepare for when they come. Just like the others have pointed out earlier. You will always have ample time to prepare in advance, when there is going to be one and position yourself for a close-range engagement. There are plenty of working tactics to deal with this (stay close to others, advance in groups behind a DD and so on), you just have to learn them. If you cannot adapt to new situations, which require a different approach than what you would normally do, then the fault lies with you and not the game. There are plenty of sensible tips in this thread, on what to do and how to play, when a cyclone hits.... Simply put: "Use it or lose it." It's all up to you.

    Level of play - Perception?

Hmm, I wonder if that's the same Mogami I also encountered. We had a game with rare 2 Mogamis in the same team, myself and one other, who did not fare particularly well, but OK-ish anyway. That is until we were about to win and capping the last cap(A) in "Shards" map while under fire from enemy BB's and a DD I was hyro-ing in his smoke in order to get him killed or smoked out of the cap circle. We were both shooting at him, but I finally got the kill and started reversing for a minute to give us time to cap and stay behind an island cover from those sniping BB's when I suddenly came under heavy but inaccurate fire from behind?! WTF! I wondered, did we miss one enemy then who's now circled behind us? But nope, it turns out to be that other Mogami, who was now targeting me instead. Mebbe hes was peeved that I "kill stole" the DD (well to my defense, since I risked my neck going into hydro-range and dodging torps so I thought it appropriate I'd shoot at it also - Maybe I'm just selfish?), since he had no kills for the game or something? Dunnoh. The game ended and in a win I did not bother to ask.
