To better illustrate the topic, this is how I managed to lose 7 karma just last week (totally my fault, obviously, hehehe): 1) Saying: "Could we get 1 DD to C please?" When all our DD's were going lemming to B in "Neighbors" map. Response: "Shut up." and -1 karma. 2) Asking a CV player: "Start moving to C, full speed and please send planes to spot the DD so I can kill it?" When our right flank had collapsed and I briefly spotted a DD (supported by a couple of BB's trying to kill me since the DD kept me perma-spotted) heading behind us for an obvious CV kill. Which he eventually got because "I cannot spare any." I found this a tad strange, since he had a full fighter squadron just circling B cap most of the game on the "Northern Lights" old map version. maybe also out of fuel, since he did not attempt to move, even as I passed him under heavy fire from the chasing BB's. -1 karma, because it was my fault he got killed. 3) This is different. Got -2 karma for sinking 4 enemy ships. Because I am apparently a "Kill stealing Muslim pig, who does not really know how to play but only shoots at low HP ships." To my defence I scored 83K damage too and got 2nd in winning team so until this was revealed to me I had been under the erroneous impression that I'd done good (I'm glad that got sorted out). Also, I was previously blissfully unaware of having suddenly become a Muslim. Strange thing that. 4) Told a 2BB+CA division on "Trap" map not to go A but: "Please support B instead. You will just die there." because our 2 DD's were going B+C and would have needed the backup. They went ahead anyway, despite of the fact that we had already spotted at least 6 enemy ships heading to A + 1 DD we did not see, who torped both the BB's almost immediately. This was all my fault, because I spawned near A with them and "Did not support them." i was in a Mogami and went to support our DD at B (we capped it briefly but lost it later after their team got A and turned to B in forge, which was now indefensible). -3 karma. In short, you may do nothing wrong and still get the wrap for it. And it will happen sooner or later, but there's no need to be bothered by it in particular. On the other hand it is indeed nice if those points go up because someone noticed and appreciated your efforts but if the reverse happens. So what? The world did not end there, we go on to the next game and hope for the best - That's all.

Actually, Karma does not go negative. Ever, the worst that can happen is that you get down to 0 Karma points and are stuck with it. What people are referring to here are the occasional decreases in their karma points, for example losing karma from 70 down to 63 or something over a few games. Which can happen quite easily if you happen to bump into the right players, who hold a grudge for sinking their ship. Or because they don't like your playername or the hat you are wearing or your mother's aftershave. It can also happen if you screw up, of course.

This weeks RN Missions - Why do Cossack missions need 750k "Potential" Damage not "Spotting" Damage? It's not a BB WG!!!
RAHJAILARI replied to IanH755's topic in General Discussion
Potential Damage? Well, anyways that is an easy mission to complete even in 1 battle. Got it for my Divisionmate last Sat. when I (in a Mogami), escorted him (in Cossack) to B cap, saw enemy DD, fired a salvo while broadside to enemy, then brake and quick-turn and WASD away like he*ll while he puffed smoke right behind me and started shooting. Enemy DD killed in my 2nd salvo with rear guns while kiting, First Blood for me while my mate got some 1.25 M of potential damage easy and even managed to cap it later on. I guess this was all due to the many, many angry shots intended for me by half-dozen enemy ships immediately behind the cap at the time. Yeah, inevitably they got some hits too and I lost about 25% of my health since they kept on firing for quite some time over the smoke and also into it, but my mate was still nearly full HP after that. We had an OK game after initially running the gauntlet, so no complaints. -
I agree. I have experienced some abuse, of course, since no-one can actually be banned based on inbred stupidity in advance and of course there will be blamers, if the game goes badly but I never participate in those conversations. Complete waste of time. However there IS the occasional good banter too, which totally makes it worth while and as far as I am concerned I deserve a giggle every now an then and so may the others. I remember a recent game , when I got loaded onto the map unusually early and so had almost a minute to wait before starting.. So I thought to issue this challenge to our opponents: "Hey Reds! Surrender your socks NOW or we're gonna cover you in pepper and sneeze all over you!"... - Admittedly, I was under the influence of too much Black Adder and no beer at the time and of course they did not take our offer but instead quite bafflingly claimed themselves to be Green and US the Reds and to have "Come in peace" - This also turned out to be a vile deception, as we soon found out. BUT on the whole the response was quite hilarious and the entire match turned out to be quite even, exiting and rather good-natured all the way to the end. Got some extra karma points after it too so apparently no-one took offense. I remember this game fondly and have had a few others like it too. Totally worth a little random abuse every now and then methinks. I may have an unfair advantage in handling these though, you see I am already OLD, so whatever these nippers might think of saying about me online, it is 100% certain that someone else has already said something much worse long before that, so I can just shrug, ignore and let it slide instead of getting into arguments with children. Why waste my time? I might keel over any time so not about to waste any on worrying about such ridiculous things now am I?

Hehe, I do much the same too. Though I have occasionally given negative to some enemies, who started remonstrating in chat overly much or actually claimed to have reported me for sinking them, as I find that kinda thing quite unsporting. But yeah, I mostly reserve the negatives for own team members who completely throw the game though I try to make it a point to stay on the positive side for the most part (if you report 1, compliment 2- rule). So I will compliment any player, who I think played particularly well, enemies included or simply did the right thing, even if they were ultimately unsuccessful and did not manage to pull it off for some reason. It's good effort that counts, as far as I'm concerned. But of course, that would require I have died first, or else I usually will not have time to notice much in terms of what others are doing. It takes all my limited powers of concentration just to keep track of what the he*ck I am doing... All that said, it is indeed nice, if ever it happens that your own karma goes up abit for one reason or another. We all want to be appreciated after all, but it is nothing to take too seriously or to worry about either. So take it, as it is - Just a bit of added fat on the side of Bacon and that's all.

That bad eh? Well, lucky for me I have never played Wot then. but as for Wows I have only ver been flamed for 2 reasons- 1) Sinking a particularly unappreciative enemy player. So MEH, who cares right? AND 2) For completely pissing in my own cereals and potao'ing in which case it was well deserved. In any case, I never get involved in chat-spats and just tend to ignore those. Why bother? Just hafta make sure to do better in the next game then.

Funny and sad game situations shown with map screenshots.

Weel, maybe he had to go to take a piss and all the loos on board were already booked? -
Well, since there are already plenty of suggestions for CL's and DD's I won't get into that too much anymore but as for myself at tier 7 I have kept Myoko, Atlanta and Algerie. All of them very good ships in my opinion. Well worth a try anyways. Myoko has by far the most punch for the buck, but Algerie is a solid and reliable performer (also long range and quite good AP) and Atlanta, oh well AA God and HE spammer par excellence, what else could be said? None of them will disappoint.

I admit it, I suck at Battleships but...
RAHJAILARI replied to DrMechano's topic in General Discussion
Totally acceptable and wise thing to do Good Sir. Yupp, I too certainly had the exact same problem for long. Ground the IJN BB line up to Yamatou only to discover I suck as badly as the playstyle or worse even. Then tried my hand in CV's, but nope not my cup of tea - I'm not nearly autistic enough to be able to handle them beyond tier 7, so I stopped at Hiryu. So next I changed to DD's - My results improved almost immediately and I found the games fun again. I mean let's face it, even if I don't mind losing a game every once in a while, getting your a*ss thoroughly kicked every effing time and being one of the main causes for your team's defeat gets old real fast. So I played DD's almost solely for a full year. Then decided to go ahead and try my hand at Cruisers, I have now researched the full IJN Cruiser line (I kept most of them except for Zao, as she is just a paper ship - Some silly requirement I just made up for myself about my ships being "historical ships" only) and currently trying to improve my skills with Mogami. Excellent ship, but kinda tricky to play due to severe "No armor"-issues. Those can be overcome with a bit of practice though. Also got a somewhat enthused about Cruisers in general and so I now have also researched US, French and German Cruiser lines as well as keeping a few of them. Looking forward to getting Kirov for myself soon. I may return to BB's sometime in the future, so I've kept most of them, but you know, no hurry at all. Why spoil the mood while gettin' is still good right? -

I agree. Someone has to be the first and if they see you going back to base to defend it, others will join you. But you have to be ready to set an example yourself - Even if you know that it is going to suck... @a_p_u_l_e_i_u_s -

RAHJAILARI replied to a_p_u_l_e_i_u_s's topic in General Discussion
Weel, looks like a standard battle in any tier to me. Lemmings convinced of their own brilliance dominate. I (often assisted by a couple of other "Noob" suicide candidates) usually choose to go the other way and try to defend or at least delay the enemy team long enough to give them a chance to pull it off. The only other thing you can do is to ping the base from time-to-time and hope for the best after that. Occasionally someone will discover their rudder and return to assist. Sometimes it has worked anyways, hehe. But yeah I agree, I much prefer domination matches any day. And of course, if ever I discover that there is a lemming-train forming behind me in "my flank" I will make a quick U-turn and return to defend base, if necessary. Well provided I have not advanced too far from it already, that is. Keeping a wary eye on the minimap helps... -
This is the same with any division which has 3 of the same type of ship (though I admit, it is especially troublesome when DD's are concerned), they cause imbalance in the force distribution across the spawn. Nothing much we can do about it tho. It does depend on the players themselves, if they actually have the wits to realize that sometimes parting ways or choosing different classes of ships may the best way to support each other as well as the the team and perhaps also win some. It would not make any sense to spawn them all separate either, because then they most likely would just waste time getting together before taking any productive action. So that would just delay the inevitable and most likely impact the game even more negatively that spawning them near each other and giving them a choice. Best divisions, of course, are the ones where they have different classes of mutually supporting ships so that MM and team's spawn point will be better balanced and good players will know and follow this principle already. The main problem, I think is that many times, people who take the same ships in a division will consist of 1 or 2 more experienced players tutoring 1-2 total Noobs, which nearly inevitably will lead to sub-par performance in part of the division as a whole. Unfortunately this cannot be helped much, people have the right to play with their friends as they see fit. Of course, there is nothing acttually preventing anyone from choosing different classes of ships anyway, but you can't really enforce it either. So our only recourse is just to hope for the best. And of course, there may the occasional Unicum division just out to troll everyone else and in that case it will be sweet if they happen to be in your team, rather than the Reds. Maybe you can seek some grim consolation from the thought that if it IS indeed a potato-DD division, then the game is probably already lost anyways and so after seeing the division's composition you are already forewarned of this and can still seek to adjust your own playstyle accordingly (meaning not to count on those fellers to accomplish anything and therefore play more defensive yourself). Hehehe!

WG for the love of serb, nerf lightning
RAHJAILARI replied to Flavio1997's topic in General Discussion
NoNo man, that cannot be done. Not yet anyways, this is a new shipline so they are SUPPOSED to be OP. At the least for a time being until most people have been induced to grind them. RN DD's will be nerfed later on, when the next new ship line will be released. Then those in turn will be the ones, which are OP for a time and so on and so on. Have patience and you shall receive... -
Oh just your standard General Melchett exclamations compilation, as would be appropriate...

WOOT? Wussallthisnowthen, thennow?

Weel, I play mostly tier 8 Cruiser myself and I do not have any issue about ending up in tier 10 games 40% of the time... All it means is that I'll be getting some extra XP bonus for being the bottom tier. SWEET!! But of course, just as long as it doesn't happen ALL the time that is... Hehe!

Jokes? @thiextarHmmm...: How about this one: "Mikasa features highly accurate main guns, good speed and maneuverability as well as preferential MatchMaking..."

Remove Friendly Fire Damage!!!!!!! Plz Now!
RAHJAILARI replied to anonym_2hneAFaIyP4T's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, me too. There should be no penalty for secondary damage either??? Now I am confused... -
I do not see how this is a problem. Half the time they will be saddling the enemy team anyways and since I'll be driving a tier 8 Cruiser I'd much prefer facing a tier 10 potato BB rather than a Unicum. Of course, it hey are in my team things might get a bit awkward, but hey "Ship happens" so there. I'll feed those lads to the enemy Yamato first and be the last of my team left alive then. Fair enough. Bound to happen sometime, that's why they are called "Randoms".

The destroyer limit - not working AT ALL
RAHJAILARI replied to HidesHisFace's topic in General Discussion
Shoot! You're right of course. Totally forgot that too. Yeeah, there's gonna be a plaque of DD's all over the place the entire week now then. Oh well, guess I'll have to take my Cleveland out for a bit of spin then. RADAR SHIPS OF THE WORLD UNITE!! -
The destroyer limit - not working AT ALL
RAHJAILARI replied to HidesHisFace's topic in General Discussion
Hhheey! Still, it HAS been worse... Was in a 23 BB match once, long ago, in a Hipper (Mountain Range map, tier 9-10 mostly)... Can't say I enjoyed it all that much. BUT mercifully I did not have to suffer for long. -
Chasing a Zao with an Ibuki? @hogger4169 Hmm.... If he just went back to concealment that would mean that he had deliberately delayed firing his guns while further away from you than his spotting range and that can mean only 1 thing. He was planning to make a turn at first to one side and then to another to launch his torpedoes at you, before commencing firing again. Standard IJN Cruiser tactic, very effective on the unwary too. If you have a hydro mounted now is a good time to fire it up, if not then launch the Catapult Fighter or Spotter Plane ASAP because you can expect some 20 torps to be headed at your direction right now. If none of these are available, be very very careful or you'll eat one. And whatever you do at this point, try not to fire your guns anymore (this will allow you to become un-spotted while maneuvering) also DO NOT turn broadside towards the oncoming torps in a misguided attempt to change course, keep on going and concentrate on dodging those torps before anything else. In any case Ibuki is slightly faster than Zao so you may catch up with him later on, unless of course he is mounting a speed flag in which case you're out of luck.

RAHJAILARI replied to HidesHisFace's topic in General Discussion
EHhehehe.... Yupp, perhaps they accidentally got it reversed or then the queue is just that long. So yupp, just what he said then. -
Ahh, that's your mistake right there lad. If you care for your sanity. Always make sure to quit while you're still ahead or take a bashing. BUT on the positive side. It could have been a LOT worse. You could have played 20 more games like I did last weekend (just because I'm an obstinate SOB, who NEVER learns).... When a losing streak comes onto you, the only thing you can do is to take a break and try some other game until it blows over and the coast is clear again.
